Americans Respond To ‘What’s The Most Absurd Medical Bill You Have Ever Received?’ (x)
Went to the ER for a possible anaphylactic reaction and they left me in the waiting room for an hour at which point the reaction had faded so I went home. They still sent me a bill even though the only person I’d spoken to was the receptionist, and had I not responded to my meds I would have died in the waiting room.
Yes I refused to pay the bill and yes they eventually cancelled it. Can I recommend a scathing Yelp review as an excellent way to light a fire under hospitals for this kind of bullshit - afaik the bad publicity is the only reason they didn’t try to force me to pay the bill.
My sister went to Urgent Care because food was stuck in her throat and she couldn’t drink or eat. While in the waiting room, it dislodged and she was good but they gave her some orange juice and then billed us about 600 dollars, called and asked why we should pay when 1) she was taken to a closet instead of a real examination room and 2) they did nothing besides give her some orange juice. In the end did not have to pay when we called and said “wow that’s some expensive orange juice”
They charged me $500 to deny me a preventative rabies vaccine
Burned my hand on the stove. Went to the ER. Wasn’t even taken in. I was taken into a side room where they put a simple burn cream on my fingers that we later got at the store for $5, then they wrapped it in gauze, which again we later bought for $5, then was told there’s nothing else they can do because the burns aren’t that bad because they’re 2nd degree burns so it just hurts and sent me home. Received a bill for $3000 dollars. For $5 dollar cream and $5 dollar bandages. Fuck the healthcare system.
Then a few months later, I went in for severe abdominal pain. It had been going on for about 3 days and I hate hospitals so I was stubborn about going. Got to the point that I couldn’t take the pain anymore. My mom took me in and after like 2 hours they brought me in for the doctor to walk up to my bed and say it’s my mentrual cramps. I insisted that it wasn’t. There was no way it was my cramps. I know what my cramps feel like. This was 1000% worse and was constantly increasing. The doctor tried to lecture me saying that sometimes they’re irregular and vary in pain and that there was nothing wrong with me. He did this for 30 minutes, refusing to listen to me.
My mom was fed up by that point. She was letting me do the talking because she knows I’m responsible enough to handle this and I was the one feeling the pain and could describe it better than she could but she could tell that the doctor saw me as a dumb 17 year old girl who needed to be taught a lesson or something. She could see the doctor didn’t respect me so spoke up and said “If my daughter says it’s not her cramps then it’s not her cramps. You haven’t done any tests on her. All that’s happened was she listed her symptoms at reception where she was made to wait for 2 hours in extreme pain while there was only 3 other people in the waiting room with mild concerns who were seen before her. You walked in a minute after she was brought back here and decided it was her cramps based off of nothing. You haven’t even examined her yet.” The doctor insisted there wasn’t a need to because it was just my cramps. I was in so much pain that I threatened to stab him with my moms knitting needle if he didn’t do something to help me. Still nothing. So then my mom said “You have 30 seconds to order some tests, examine her, and give her something for the pain or else I’m going to call our lawyer.”
That made him do something. He ordered testing and bloodwork and gave me something for my pain. When the nurse showed up to take me to my first test this doctor had the nerve to say “Take her in for a CT. It’s just her menstrual cramps but they’re insisting.” After all the tests were done I was waiting for another hour simply because the doctor didn’t want to face me. We could him just standing at the nursing station. He hadn’t moved from there the whole time after receiving the results. Not even to see other patients. So my mom complained to a nurse. The head ER doctor had to drag him over to me where he then sheepishly explained that it was indeed not my cramps and that I had a large growth on my ovary that needed to be removed within two weeks or I might not survive.
He then denied me surgery. I didn’t have insurance and the gyno had left for the night already. I told him to bring in the on call so we could get this done. He refused. I reminded him that in cases of emergency, lack of insurance is required to be overlook and surgery has to be performed regardless. He still refused saying it wasn’t an emergency. “You said I have two weeks to live. How is that not an emergency?” He ultimately refused me life saving surgery and sent me home to die just because his pride was hurt. My mom had to take me to the children’s hospital a few hours after we got home.
They immediately saw me and did a test. After which they came in and said that I require emergency surgery and that I was to be taken to my own room upstairs and that I had the first surgery spot in the morning at 9am. My mom mentioned my lack of insurance. The doctor said that wasn’t a problem. This was an emergency situation, therefore they had to perform the surgery by law. And the doctor had submitted my case to administration where I was immediately granted to receive help from the children’s foundation at the hospital so the operation was paid for. My left ovary and left Fallopian tube both had to be removed. We only got a bill from the children’s hospital for $1000 which was all that was left to pay out of the $65,000 for the surgery because the foundation paid for most of it. The nurse had helped my mom set me up for Obamacare while we were there so I was given insurance which paid another large portion of it. $1000 was all that was left for us to take care of.
A month later we received a bill from the first hospital, the one that denied me life saving emergency surgery after the doctor insisted that I just had menstrual cramps. It was $20,000. My mom called and explained what had happened there and that we wouldn’t pay. They insisted that we had to. So my mom said they had two options. Either they cancel the bill or we would call our lawyers and sue them for malpractice because first they misdiagnosed me after not even bothering to examine me, then denied me emergency surgery because the doctor’s ego was damaged. They cancelled the bill. I will never go to that hospital and ever again. I still use the children’s hospital even though I’m an adult now because they have a section for adults.
FIGHT THE SYSTEM.
Example: You get an expensive bill for a $1,000 unfortunately. U.S. healthcare really shouldn’t be so expensive in the first place…but the first thing you should do is call and ask for a review of the level of care, and while on the phone the next thing you do is ask for an itemized bill with every single charge.
They make bills unnecessarily expensive because in the backend of things, they rack up ridiculous charges like $37 for a bandaid. Once you call and request what I’ve mentioned, they’ll knock all the BS charges right off before sending you the itemized statement.
Some bills can go down from $500 to $45. It may not be that drastic for everyone, but many can be reduced by several hundreds of dollars.

The type of growth in striving for
The worst thing abt working in a craft store is that 90% of the time, the woman jokes in some way or another her husband will kill her/beat her for spending money. Or they’ll half the payment in cash so it “looks like less when he checks our account.”
That shit isn’t funny. It isn’t cute and it makes me so sad that these women joke about it. So WHAT if your wife likes to make wreaths or sparkly tumbler cups??? So WHAT if her passion is soap making or painting?? God forbid ur wife have a fucking hobby that isn’t blowing you!!
Holiday season is upon us so if you berate ur wife for having a hobby, fuck you!! If you know somebody who does this fucking punch them in the throat!!!
my mom owned a store like this and would be like “does your husband golf?” and the shop was in a rich white neighbourhood so they would always say yes and my mom would do quick math and be like “great, this is worth half a game of golf. Looks like you have more to spend if you wanna!”
great tactic in empowering women and selling more craft items

I just saw a video of Britney Spears tearing apart a group of men who called her body guard the n word. He had to hold her back because her knee jerk reaction was to maul them like a mama bear on the loose. And then she walks away while holding a comforting hand on his back.
I’ll never not stan her. Catch me playing Lucky at my funeral bitch.
I literally just saw the video and she was really about to whoop ass ON SIGHT no hesitation.

Just incase you still weren't sure.
The Nazis did the same thing...so I’m guessing this isn’t the first time American White Christians have pulled this shit.
America was doing it before the Nazis. We've been through these stages repeatedly, this isnt new.
A single cop framed dozens of innocent people and once a state attorney found the body camera footage from the arrests, the victims were vindicated.
Jackson County, FL — Dozens of innocent people who were rotting in jail have been freed and their charges erased after the corrupt cop who put them there was caught on his own body camera planting meth on an innocent mother. Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Wester has since been fired and a slew of lawsuits are now rolling in.
Wester’s fall from law enforcement grace and the 119 people who were exonerated are due largely in part to the diligence of a single person, assistant state attorney at the 14th Judicial Circuit, Christina Pumphrey.
Pumphrey’s job as assistant state attorney included reviewing evidence before moving forward with charges against individuals. When she began reviewing cases, she found something very peculiar.
“This is an exaggeration, but it felt like his (Wester’s) name was on half the cases,” Pumphrey told The Appeal. “It was seriously disproportionate.”
When Pumphrey began watching the body camera footage from Wester’s arrests, she found something even more disturbing. Many times, Wester was seen conducting illegal searches. Also, his written affidavits did not match what she watched in the videos. But that wasn’t the most telling aspect of all these videos.
While it is no question that folks will claim that drugs found on them or in their possession “aren’t their’s” and “they don’t know how that got there,” nearly all of Wester’s cases had this. The videos showed that people were utterly shocked when Wester claimed to have found drugs in their vehicles. While a single person may have been lying, when everyone reacts the exact same way, something is up.
Although she reviewed multiple videos, Pumphrey never saw the actual act of Wester planting drugs or otherwise hiding them. However, all that changed when Wester pulled over Teresa Odom in February of 2018.
In that video, Wester pulls Odom over, claiming her tail lights aren’t working. However, it would later be revealed that her tail lights were, in fact, working fine and Wester had targeted her to frame her.
In the video, Wester is extremely nice to the woman, complimenting her, joking around, and making small talk. But in the back of his mind, he knew the entire time that he was going to plant meth on her and have her thrown in a cage—an insidious move indeed.
After threatening to have a K-9 come search her car, Wester tells Odom that she can avoid the K-9 if she just lets him search her truck himself—a huge mistake.
the guy should have gotten all 119 sentences automatically
If you read the whole article, the woman who discovered this was immediately chastised by the state attorney’s office, who were furious with her for sharing the footage and bringing it up at all; she turned in her resignation soon afterwards and decided to drop her whistleblower complaint because she was afraid it would compromise her new job.
The police officer has not faced any violence beyond being fired.
Dropped charges remain on the victims’ criminal record.
“The next time someone tells you that obeying the law will keep you out of trouble with police, show them this article. A single cop had over 100 victims. ”
this one time I ran a red light on mistake and I didn’t notice it was red until it was too late so I just ran the light screeching like an angry pterodactyl the entire time
a cop was at the intersection so he pulled me over and when he came up to my window he was wheezing cause he was laughing so hard and he said
“ok so i know you ran a red light and that’s really bad and you should never do it again but i’m not gonna give you a ticket cause that was the funniest thing i’ve ever seen and my partner can’t get out of the car cause he’s laughing so hard he’s about to pee himself”
i forgot that i’d had my window open when i ran the red light and the cop told me that all he heard from my car was this really high-pitched “screeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”
and that’s how i got out of getting a ticket for running a red light
