I don't get people who are like "I don't like rap it's so loud and overstimulating" while listening to heavy metal and rock. ESPECAILLY when they use the "it's all about drugs, voilence, money, and sex" so like crazy idea but like those are the main topics of politics and experiences expressed on all forms of music and media??? Especailly when they don't realize there genres of rap, like rap is alternative actually. it is punk but some of y'all aren't ready for that conversation.

it's very frustrating seeing otherwise well-structured posts about media literacy and critical thinking bookended with statements about "nowadays", "nobody has literacy anymore", "this generation is so anti-intellectual", and the like, unquestioningly falling into better past fallacies.

Do we really think the 80s and its Satanic Panic were better at critical thinking? what about the 40s? the Victorian era? societies have always had problems with critical thinking and literacy, because most societies have dealt with propaganda, corrupt leadership, difficulty providing education (due to poverty or discrimination or other issues), and/or people who resist critical thinking (due to privilege or circumstance or what have you). we can criticize media trends without pulling a "well back in the GOOD OLD DAYS" about it.

It's so weird how some of the largest assholes are also the people who are just like really sensetive when you're mean back. Like you can't complain about someone calling you a bitch while actively calling people slurs. And not even in a reclaiming manner either you're just using a slur as a slur.

i think the constant rapturing of blogs and increasing strictness of [tumblr] is fucking up jiraiblr a little. i could be wrong and maybe it’s just me lacking activity now but i lose moots daily and a lot don’t come back. i might be making this part up but truly i feel there was more activity on jiraiblr and more new blogs joining back in may.
