It was oddly sterile as he finally entered the abandoned Umbrella facility. The lobby was white and practically pristine as the lights turned on. It was a stark contrast to… everything he had just been through. A destroyed city and a ruined police station led to running through the sewers for his life. (He still wasn’t sure how long that crocodile or alligator had been down there to get that big.) He had even gotten shot trying to save an FBI agent’s life- his shoulder was still throbbing despite the entire bottle of med spray he had used on it- And it all led to Umbrella’s secret lab that honestly screamed evil mad science rather than someplace that made pills.
It was obvious that the outbreak had somehow started here when he had come across a researcher in the sewers mutating into a monster, his ID card boldly showing the Umbrella logo. That had been a nasty fight. His ribs still hurt from when he had been smashed through a goddamn floor by that huge hand and the giant orange eye glaring from where an eye shouldn’t be.
He wasn’t sure if he preferred that guy or the grey guy in the leather stomping around in the RPD who could punch holes in walls. Leon didn’t want to think about what kind of monster he heard roar in the RPD courtyard that got all the surrounding zombies to go quiet. He just knew that he was glad he hadn’t met it.
A beep as he tried to go deeper. He needed to look for a way to upgrade his clearance.
The receptionist hadn’t logged out and Leon took full advantage of that fact as he looked for where all the various clearance chips he could swipe would be.
At least he could get to the cafeteria- aw it had been pizza day- and the… nap room?- Ok. That sounded pretty cool to have at work- And there was an upgrade in there too! Score!
Leon checked his various holsters for his weapons, checking the ammo on each.
He had found a pretty nice piece in the supply box with the STARS logo on the grip. It wouldn’t replace Matilda, but it was really good at exploding the heads of any zombie that he came across.
The shotgun slung over his shoulder was a comforting weight and the knife Lieutenant Branagh gave him was sheathed at his belt. Matilda was in her holster as always, his loyal companion since the beginning of this mess.
With weapons checked, Leon went into the dark hallway, flashlight out but barely managing to make a dent in the gloom. Had a steam pipe burst or something? Fog lapped at his shoes as he walked further along the hall until he was swallowed up.
It wasn’t until his footsteps were on grass and the comforting weight of the weapons he had collected had vanished that he realized something was horribly wrong. His flashlight died soon after and wouldn’t restart no matter how many times he smacked it against his hand. It went back to its pouch by his cuffs as he resigned himself to the fog filled gloom.
Leon heard a scream off in the distance and started sprinting to go help. He might have been unarmed, but he was still an officer and he would do his duty to help whoever he could!
((Hello! 🧩 here, and bringing you another survivor to the Fog! Poor boy doesn’t know what he’s getting into. Mun is 18+ and expects others to be as well))
Special thanks to @theycallmedarling for proofreading and for fixing my awful English and for @loveiscosmicsin for the support and suggestions. Was inspired by @cryran88 's fic.
[There seems to be a new survivor around, approaching leon, seeming a little disoriented, the jerk their shoulder near their head in an unnatural movement. but their smiling]
“Oh, um, hello sir, do you mind telling me where I am?”
-🐏
Leon looked at the new survivor with a hint of concern, considering the odd movements, but he still smiled.
“Oh! Hello, I’m Leon. And you’re in the Fog. Unfortunately it’s not a good place to be but we’re kind of stuck here.”
This is set sometime after RE2. And since the remakes never really gave remake scenes of this part of the lore, I made my own spin of the "deal" part and made it... harsher. I imagined Leon tried to visit Sherry as often as he could but couldn't visit more often in later years and kinda lost contact (just my headcanon). But I think he reconnected with Sherry after the events of RE6 and then we get their dynamic in RE9 where he can be a dad to her again.
He's sad in the last panel because he thinks he'll never be free.
Special thanks to @loveiscosmicsin for making sure my English is alright.
