like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point
not all depiction is glorification but sometimes it is and you need to be able to tell the difference. not because your immortal soul will be tainted by reading The Bad One, but because you need to have reading comprehension skills

Throughline does deep-dives on history, culture, laws, and so on (link here); I'm especially partial to their We the People miniseries, which covers our rights from the Amendments. Code Switch covers culture, focusing on race and minority groups, and has been doing some especially good coverage on what the Trump administration's fuckery means on a practical level (link here). I'm not even nearly as anti-LLM as most other leftists but part of approaching new technology is "hey let's think real critically about the application and scope of this so we can use it in ways that are worth it and don't cause mass scale societal damage" but the fact that it's being injected into fucking EVERYTHING makes any stance more cautious than "USE LLMS FOR EVERYTHING NOW AND FOREVER" so much more anti than the status quo that I don't even fucking want to add nuance
Like most of the problems people have with LLMs are the natural conclusion of decades of tech companies gaining monopolies, environmental regulations struggling to keep up with new technologies, and a growing semi-privatized surveillance state, as opposed to issues with LLMs themselves. There's a theoretical reality where LLMs are implemented in useful, responsible, and sustainable ways but that reality is so far removed from our current one that none of those points actually matters
perhaps i am missing something but i just dont understand how this is an issue that is struggled with by men. i know i answered my own question above but sometimes i'm floored by the stupidity of it yknow.
my official stance is a pregnancy is whatever the pregnant woman wants it to be. if it’s a 4 week old clump of cells and she wants to call it a baby it’s a baby. if she’s 20 weeks and she wants to call it a parasite it’s a parasite. if she’s 39 weeks and calls it a fetus it’s a fetus. “why are you so sad about miscarrying at 6 weeks it was literally just an embryo” because that was her baby. “how can you get an abortion at three months” because that wasn’t a baby. hope that helps.
This is pretty much the only take that makes any sense to me.
"It's just a lump of cells!" Doesn't matter, so am I and so are you. Abortion is morally acceptable not because of relative lumpiness but because of bodily autonomy.
