Looking up Medieval money is annoying, I'll just say that simply.

And I want to avoid the stupid thing in fantasy were people talk about goods like "A suit of plate armour being 1200 Gold Dragons", which even in a fantasy setting is a ridiculous amount of money for a person to carry, on their person or even in portable storage.

Like, it makes sense why the pound (£) and the shilling (s) became a thing, because there's only so many pennies a person can carry before you go "Okay, this is too heavy and stupid", and this is from someone who routinely takes coins in the double digits to the bank to cash it in.

The idea of PHYSICALLY carrying £100 in literal coins is ludicrous.
