Happy Pride Month
Ten years later, this bit still slaps. They made a great pun and realized they could be nice/inclusive with it too.
i need everyone to get into college football right now i am dying to talk about the texas tech situation. this is the kind of thing that will be referenced for the next 100 years. there will be documentaries and biopics about this.
no one asked but here
texas tech's quartback, brendan sorsby, was investigated for sports gambling. i know sports betting is all the rage right now, but athletes themselves are not allowed to do it. it is Rule Number 1 and it is the highest priority rule for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), who governs all athletic programs at about 1,100 colleges in the US.
the invesitagetion of sorsby revealed that, not only did he place more than 9,000 sports bets when he himself was a collegiate athlete, but 40 of those bets were AGAINST HIS OWN TEAM when he was playing at indiana university. immediately, this threatens the integrity of the sport, and especially because indiana is the hottest team right now as the defending national champion.
the NCAA, which is largely a sham organization these days (they've truly lost their grasp and college athletics are the wild west now) actually enforced their Number 1 Rule and told sorsby his career is over, that he would never play college football again (and, subsequently, that he would never get drafted into the NFL because his college career was cut short).
well, because the NCAA is a husk of its former self, sorsby and texad tech immediately took this to court. MANY athletes have learned these past few seasons that if you can find a judge who's a fan of your team, you can get any NCAA ruling overturned. that's exactly what texas tech did. they filed a suit in Lubbock, where the university is located and where every judge is an alum of texas tech. so sorsby was granted an injunction and will now only be suspended for the first 2 games od the 2026 season (which are alwayd against no-name teams that will be destroyed regardless of who's suspended).
every other school in the country immediately went on the defensive because this is a very clear integretiy issue. so nebraska and georgia (sic em dawgs) released statements saying that all currently-scheduled competitions witb Texas Tech in ANY sport will be canceled and there will be no future schedulings. at least 3 of the major conferences (SEC, Big 10, Big 12) , who account for almost all division 1 sports teams in the country, are also in discussions about cancelling comtests. Texas Tech is part of the Big 12, and there is serious talk of all other teams in the conference shutting texas tech out.
now would probably be time where i say that texas tech is one of the wealthiest programs in college football becaise there is a single billionaire alumnus pouring money into the program with hopes of essentially buying a championship. so texas techs integrity has always been questionable. anyway, the university president put oit a statement that he doesnt care that sorseby violated regulation and that texas tech will sue any school that refuses to play them because it jeopardizes their championship prospects if they're umable to play any games.
this is all just startomg but its so juicy and delicious. the NCAA is going to crumble to dust if they cannot get this injunction overturned. schools like georgia and nebraska have plenty of money so a suit isnt necessarily a concern, but this will absolutely change college football forever. i cant stop reading about it.
you are my peach, you are my plum
When your cat falls asleep on you.
There's no fucking way people are calling Dana fucking Terrace transphobic for confirming a characters is cis. Y'all have lost the fucking plot on what transphobia is.
your problem is that you have no idea what youre talking about and misconstruing everything transfems say in the worst way imaginable because you just hate us! fix your heart etc etc
Misconstruing it…. Yeah okay
Just some of the weird ass takes I’ve referenced btw. These aren’t even the ones I’ve seen on tumblr, which were worse actually.
Don’t know where the fuck you got it in your head that I hate trans women, why the fuck would I hate people in my own community?
What I actually hate is the blatant entitlement to a show that isn’t even out yet. I hate that people can’t tell the difference between canon and head canon. I hate the degradation of fandom culture because people can’t take a second to think if harassing a person or creator over a show is a great display of their “moral righteousness”. I hate actions and I hate words, not people.
I hate the horrible things people are saying about a queer woman. Again. For answering a question about her own character.
I watched the toxicity of the owl house fandom in real time and it really sucks to see it come back, for a pilot no less.
KOG hasn’t been advertised as a queer show, it’s a cyberpunk capitalistic hellscape that happens to have queer characters. Meant to explore the exploitation of the working class and how it keeps them sick, tired, and placid.
I get wanting representation, I’ve been looking for it in media my whole life, but getting angry at a creator for sticking to the canon of their story (which is decided months or years in advance) and not just changing it on a whim because of a head canon people have, is nonsensical and ludicrous.
This will likely be the only ask like this I’ll entertain on my blog. I don’t have the time nor the energy to deal with asks that basically only amount to “um actually, you’re wrong and mean xoxo”
Like why send weird shit to my inbox? The post I made about it is literally right there.
can you believe that DANA TERRACE is being compared to J.K.ROWLING just because her character is a cis woman? you know... j.k.rowling? the raging terf that directly contributed to trans people's rights being taken away by the GOVERNMENT????
and you're comparing her to... Dana? the one who created Raine Whispers and Masha and brought them on tv????? just because god forbid masc cis women exist????
yall are crazy
The fandom has existed for like a few fucking DAYS and its already kinda insufferable huh. Yeah why dont we all say the creator is transphobic and equate her to JKR because she answered a question in a normal fucking way, hey lets act like this trans VA had absolutely no agency in her decision to audition for, accept the role of, and choose to continue to voice the lines of a character so we can say the showrunner is a terrible person. Yeah guys thats really cool to do, definitely not incredibly shitty behavior towards a creator and definitely not weirdly transphobic to act like a trans person has no choice in the jobs they do and are being forced by outside forces to do them
Hey as a trans person can we talk about how some of y'all saw a masc woman who doesn't have any physically feminine traits, and does a lot of stereotypically masculine labor and immediately assumed she was trans? And even got mad at the creator when she clarified the characters gender? Please tell me in detail why you were upset that the non traditionally feminine woman wasn't trans and try not to make it sound weird🎤🎤
Saying every buff female character is trans implies that women can't be built strong or bulky unless they're "biologically male"
And it pushes The stereotype that "all trans women look like bulky men"
( Maybe it's cuz I'm trans or cuz people are being a dick to Dana terrace for no reason but I have a very strong opinion about this >:{ )
recap on Knights of Guinevere's "Baby's First Discourse":
scene of the show has frankie's asshole boss calling her "franklin." fans interpret this as misgendering and think frankie is canonically trans
dana confirms that frankie is canonically cis, she just has a lot of masc nicknames
people start saying dana is transphobic for this
additional context that people were mad at dana for not making willow "look more blasian" when she had a black dad and a korean dad, dana eventually had to confirm the black dad was a stepdad and willow was never intended to be blasian, so it makes sense that she would want to confirm things quickly so people don't get the wrong idea for a long time. people ignore this and decide her rush to confirm frankie is cis (when she was DIRECTLY ASKED, if i may remind you) means that she hates trans women
people also decide that dana is transphobic because a trans woman voiced the asshole boss (a cis man in the show afawk). trans woman actress literally has to come out and say she enjoys playing characters like him and likes being able to voice both male and female characters
dana puts out an apology saying that she didn't mean trans headcanons for frankie were bad, only that she was not written with the intention of being trans. she has previously stated this is her stance on queer headcanons so this is not a surprise from her
dana blocked people who were throwing parasocial fits over her confirming frankie as cis. everyone decides this means that she IS indeed transphobic and her apology means nothing
This is why we can't have nice things
Your art is really good! I like the way that you draw but also the diversity of things that you draw. I hope that one day I will draw like you! Sorry for the bad english. :P
Your English is fine.
You will, one day, draw even better. I look forward to that.
Sorry for the late reply. This was from 2014, but I never got it back then and am only just seeing it now.
I’ve had tumblr for 4 years but some of you bitches have had it for a decade. It’s time to seek penance
wait I’m curious now . Reblog this with how long u’ve been on tumblr for. Dating back to ur oldest blog ever !!!
fake Goncharov fans don’t even realize that Scorsese did NOT direct the 1973 cult classic. he was executive producer. 🤦♀️
The actual director is Natted JWHJ0715, and they deserve credit!!!
It's Matteo JWHJ0715!!!!! Very talented director (italian mother, license plate father)
“oh no, my audience has begun to guess the big twists of my story and are accurately predicting what will happen!”
incorrect response: write the rest of the story to be as twisty, shocking and counter to expectations as possible, regardless of whether this is a logical or satisfying way for the plot to go
correct response:
can someone elaborate on the “make hoax” and “post angry tweet about “leak”“ part. i’m stupid and don’t understand things
sure!
(you’re not stupid. I posted this thinking it would amuse a handful of mutuals who all knew the context and that would be about it, so I didn’t think about providing any other explanation. I had no idea it would spread this far.)
I’ll start from the very beginning just to be thorough. so this is Alex Hirsch, creator and head writer of Gravity Falls, a show which had a big focus on mystery, conspiracies, codes and ciphers, etc. the whole plot is kicked off by one of the main characters finding a mysterious old journal in the woods, which detailed all kinds of weird and supernatural things, but then ended abruptly with the author saying they had to hide the journal because they were being watched. the central driving mystery of the show, therefore, was the question of who wrote the journal and what happened to them.
now, the thing about Gravity Falls is that, while it must be said that the writers weren’t always quite as sure of their plans as we tend to like to think they are, it is very much a fair play mystery, with legitimate clues to what was going on. but the writers were caught off guard by how quickly the show attracted a dedicated audience, including a lot of people outside the primary presumed demographic, who started solving the clues faster than expected. so some of the fans were able to correctly guess who the author was before it was revealed in the show, and the theory started spreading. this put the writers in something of a panic, because this was THE mystery that the whole story revolved around, with ¾ of the show building up to the dramatic reveal in the middle of season 2. they wanted it to be a mystery that could be figured out, sure, but they weren’t prepared for people to solve it so far in advance of when it was planned to be revealed, which would have really taken away from the big moment. they weren’t going to change the main story itself, but having been caught unaware by how much attention the fans were paying, they wanted to up the ante and make the mystery more complex to solve going forward–but first they needed to buy some time and throw the fandom off the scent for a little longer.
hence, Alex’s plan as described above. they whipped up a fake shot that appears to give away the identity of the author as being another character in the show, put it on a screen in the studio as if it was a real animation frame, took a picture of it, and ‘leaked’ it online. it was initially decided to be a hoax (albeit, I think, presumed to be a hoax originating from outside the production team), until Alex posted this tweet:
…before quickly deleting it (though not so quickly that it didn’t get seen, of course).
it worked well enough to distract most people for a while, and wasn’t revealed as a hoax until a year later, when an episode aired that definitively proved that the supposed screenshot could never have happened, at which point Alex owned up to the whole thing as seen in the tweet above. by then the episode with the real reveal wasn’t far off, and while people did still work it out ahead of time, it was more of an “OH MY GOD I KNEW IT!” moment than a “booooooring, we’ve known that for ages” moment, which of course was what the writers wanted all along.
personally I find this a fascinating approach to dealing with the problem of spoilers, because it doesn’t affect the story itself at all; if you watch Gravity Falls today–or if you were watching it when it aired without any significant contact with the fandom–you’d never know about it. ultimately, the problem the writers were facing wasn’t that some people might guess the answer to the mystery–they never wanted to make it completely impossible to predict–so much as it was that they hadn’t designed the story to stand up to so many people working on the puzzle together, which resulted in a sort of total output of puzzle-solving ability that far outstripped the capability of any one solo human being. so their solution is something that’s very much targeted toward delaying that group problem-solving, without actually affecting the experience of any individual person watching the show.
plus, it’s very in keeping with the overall tone of the show.
and now you know!
if your audience guesses the ending of your story
don’t:
change the ending
do:
gaslight them

@hellsite-hall-of-fame
Get Moist von Lipwig in charge of the US postal service ASAP
Ok I know this is super old now but I work at a post office and I was curious about the price so I did some digging and I still don’t have a definite answer because THE REASON it says “no shipping services available” is because all shipping services were actually suspended to Guam at the time. As in no packages, parcels, letters, or mail or any kind could be sent to Guam. So not only is it mind boggling that it got sent so far in the wrong direction of its intended destination, but because nothing should have been able to get in to Guam period.
You QUITE LITERALLY could not have sent these cookies to Guam if you tried.
