The only reason I was able to read as voraciously as I did growing up was because of mass market paperbacks.

Special hardcover editions are nice or paperbacks with deckle edges and sprayed sides, but the mass market paperback is the pillar of society.

imo the term "walkable" in "walkable cities" should be understood to mean "wheelchair accessible" as well, not just literally "possible to walk in". the act of walking in a city doesn't automatically make it walkable

I ordered sushi yesterday because I didn’t have the forethought to make a lunch.

My coworker and I placed it and then I forgot about it. DoorDash is on my Naughty Apps list for constantly sending notifications begging for attention, so I have them turned off.

So it was very belatedly that I checked the status and saw there was a message.

A lot of messages in fact.

I looked down and literally just saw “Tell no one,” as a white man in his fifties strolled in with a backward cap. When I told him I was just seeing the messages he said, “Yeah, check it out, that text chain is lit.”

No one has ever received a five star rating more quickly than that man.
