As someone who was a vengeance demon for 1,100 years, Anya would not ever use the word "wish" flippantly. It's a word with immense power that she has spent over a millenia utilizing. These two lines are easily overlooked because we say we wish for things all the time, but for her? She would be so, so careful about that word. She would not say it unless she meant it, and truly wanted it. Imagine spending a millenia and change being able to grant wishes and granting wishes from people in pain (women scorned by men specifically) and then, when you see Willow in pain, or experience the pain of grief, you drop the W word, when your have centuries and centuries of experience of wishes coming true.

The thing about canon spuffy is that they are narratively treated like a queer relationship. Buffy feels the need to hide because she doesn’t want people to know that she enjoys a specific kind of sex (bdsm) with a specific type of person (vampire). She hides behind her Christian ideas of purity and expectation and over and over again chooses to stay in the closet.
Which if we take into account the idea that bdsm relationships are a type of queer relationship (stigmatized and often harshly responded against as it is in this situation)…

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.
