I’ve come to realize that one of the hardest parts about navigating the modern day political climate, is that many people on the left can only ever talk about politics. Truly, the personal has become the political for them. It’s impossible to stay away from politics with them and have a neutral conversation. That makes it hard to form and nurture friendships with someone when they treat every topic like a hot button topic.

There are a few people who have reblogged this and commented that they are sure it’s the same on the right, and yes, there are some obnoxious right-wing individuals who won’t listen to other people and turn everything into a political rant. But in my experience both from when I was a leftist myself and nowadays when I’m on the other side of things, there is a huge difference in the way modern (young) leftists and modern (young) right-wingers treat people with differing opinions. I just came across yet another study (this one is from Axios, published on December 7th) that shows it:

By the numbers: 5% of Republicans said they wouldn’t be friends with someone from the opposite party, compared to 37% of Democrats.

71% of Democrats wouldn’t go on a date with someone with opposing views, versus 31% of Republicans.

30% of Democrats — and 7% of Republicans — wouldn’t work for someone who voted differently from them.

Also, they often say “this isn’t a disagreement like tea or coffee, this is literal human rights” but every disagreement is treated like it is a literal violation of human rights, even things that just come down to personal preference or what you want to do.

The desecration and destruction of IPs and old cultural icons isn't profitable from a marketing or viewership standpoint - "get woke, go broke" has been shown time and again - yet they keep doing it. The money for that is coming from somewhere. Someone is paying to make this happen.
