‼️ALL CHARACTERS ARE ADULT AKA 22+, NO DEAD CHARACTERS
For the first 8-10 seconds after you knelt down and said those words, Izana simply… froze.
Not shocked in the sense of “I don’t believe it,” but as if his brain had thrown a 404 error. He looked at the ring, at you, at the ring again, at you again. No sound. No blinking. Total processing.
When he finally spoke, the first thing that came out of his mouth was a quiet, slightly hoarse:
“…are you serious?”
It didn’t sound like a question of consent. It sounded like a question about whether you really wanted to be tied to him forever. There was far more fear and disbelief in it than he would admit.
Izana never cries nicely. When something inside him snaps, he cries ugly, with his teeth clenched, his hand pressed to his mouth so no one could hear.
That night, he cried like that – slightly sideways, pretending to only scratch the back of his neck, but his shoulders were shaking. He accepted the ring with trembling fingers and immediately put it on his finger, without even asking if he could try it on. As if he was afraid that if he let go for even a second, it would disappear.
Then, for the next three days, he didn't even take it off to shower.
The next morning, you woke up to Izana sitting cross-legged on the bed and just... staring at his hand with the ring.
He didn't say a word. He only occasionally touched the metal with his fingertip, as if checking to see if it was real.
For the first two weeks after the proposal, he went through a phase of "I have to touch you constantly to make sure you don't run away."
He grabbed your wrist when you walked by, rested his head on your shoulder when you sat, pulled you close at night even after you were asleep. It wasn't sweet tenderness—it was a panicked "he really wants to stay."
He didn't say "yes" out loud for a long time.
Not because he hesitated. He just… couldn't say the word without feeling like his voice was about to break.
He finally did it quietly, almost in a whisper, as you lay in the dark:
"…yes. Of course I do."
Once he finally broke down and started talking about it, he suddenly became obsessively specific.
"The wedding has to be in the winter. I don't like summer, too many people, too loud."
"I don't want many people. 10-12 at most."
"I don't want anyone from Toman to witness it. We don't trust them."
"I want you to have the exact same ring on your finger. Not a different one. The same."
He touches your left hand surprisingly often now – the one with the wedding band. Sometimes even unconsciously.
He strokes the place where the metal will soon be with his thumb. It's his new nervous tic.
The first time he called you "my husband" was about three weeks after the proposal – completely by accident, during a casual conversation in the kitchen. He froze mid-sentence, realized what he'd said, turned red to the ears, and left the kitchen without a word.
He returned 15 minutes later and pretended nothing had happened.
He has a "wedding" folder on his phone (with a password you don't want to know).
There are screenshots of suits, wedding ring inspiration, photos of places to get married without crowds, even a mood board with dark blue and silver accents because "those are our colors."
Sometimes, when he thinks you're sleeping, he kisses your left ring finger and whispers very, very quietly, "Thanks for not leaving."
He still has moments when he looks at you and thinks, "This can't possibly work out, one day he'll understand who I really am and leave."
But now, when he feels the ring on his finger, that voice is much quieter than it used to be.
And most importantly:
For the first time in his life, Izana Kurokawa truly believes she can have a happy ending.
Not perfect. Not a fairytale. But real. With you.
He wasn't surprised… but he still froze for three seconds.
Kisaki knew immediately that something was up. He'd noticed that you had been acting slightly differently over the past two or three weeks: checking your phone more often, hiding the screen...
Still, when you actually knelt down and said those words, Kisaki completely lost his poker face for a split second.
Not from panic. From a pure, sudden "fuck… this is actually happening."
His first thought after "yes" was: "I have to do this better than him."
Right after he said "yes" (calmly, quietly, but without hesitation), his mind was already in planning mode.
"If he proposed to me in a restaurant on the 37th floor overlooking Tokyo… then I have to top that scale at the wedding. Minimum. Minimum."
On the way home, he was already making a mental list of things he would do better, more expensive, more perfect.
He didn't cry. But his eyes were glazed over, and it really pissed him off.
When you put the ring on him, Kisaki looked at his hand, then at you, then back at the ring.
He felt a burning sensation behind his eyelids and immediately clenched his jaw.
He thought: "No. Absolutely not. Not now. Not in front of him. This is unacceptable."
You, of course, noticed and gently blurted: "Are you crying?"
Kisaki immediately: "It's street dust. Don't be ridiculous."
The first night after the proposal, he barely slept at all.
He lay on his back, one hand behind his head, staring at the ceiling. With his other hand, he absently twisted the ring on his finger.
For the first time in a long, long time, he felt something that wasn't called "ambition," "revenge," "control," or "obsession." It was… uncomfortably soft. And at the same time, terrifyingly pleasant.
The next day at work was unbearable.
All his coworkers immediately noticed something was wrong. Kisaki, who was normally icy and precise, suddenly:
smiled out of the corner of his mouth for no reason,
lost the thread of the conversation twice during a phone call,
when someone asked, “Is something wrong?” he replied dryly, “Nothing you should care about”… but with the tone of someone who just won the lottery and is trying to hide it.
He hadn't said “I love you” out loud in a very long time.
After the proposal, it was almost five weeks before Kisaki finally said it.
It happened completely by accident – You were just coming out of the bathroom with wet hair and a towel around your hips, and Kisaki was sitting on the couch with his laptop.
He looked up and suddenly, without any preparation, quietly said,
“Y'know I love you, right?”
You froze. Kisaki returned his gaze to the screen and added even more quietly,
"Don't make me repeat it."
He's planning a return proposal over the next four months.
And this isn't normal planning. This is a military operation.
He's hired a private jeweler to make a ring that will be a "reply" to yours (of course, it has to be better, but not vulgar – a subtle, elegant edge).
He's booking a place in Santorini for exactly one year from the day you propose.
He's writing a speech. Yes. Kisaki Tetta is writing a speech. And he's revising it by hand 17 times.
He's incredibly possessive after the proposal.
He's always been possessive, but now it's reached a new level.
If anyone looks at you for more than three seconds, Kisaki places a hand on the back of your neck or waist – seemingly nonchalantly, but it's a pure declaration of "mine."
You once joked, "Don't worry, I won't run away."
Kisaki looked at you very seriously and said, "I know. But I'm not going to risk it anyway."
He still can't be romantic in a "normal" way.
Instead of flowers, he brings you a limited edition watch you once mentioned by accident a year and a half ago.
Instead of a candlelit dinner, he takes you to the roof of an office building in the middle of the night to show him Tokyo from above and says, "I used to control all of this. Now I just want it to be yours."
Deep down, he's afraid that one day you will see him as the old Kisaki again.
And that's the only thing that really keeps him up at night.
That's why he tries so hard to be a "better version"—not for the applause, but because for the first time in his life, he has something he truly doesn't want to lose.
His first reaction isn't words, but that characteristic, wide, slightly psychopathic smile of his that takes up half his face.
He looks at you for a good 4-5 seconds in complete silence, his head tilted, as if he's just seen the most interesting thing in the world.
Only then, quietly, in a low voice:
"...fuck, Y/N. You really did it."
He doesn't say "yes" right away.
Instead, he pulls out a cigarette, lights it very slowly, looking you straight in the eye.
He takes one long drag and blows the smoke out to the side so it doesn't fly in your face (his version of romance).
"You know that if I say yes, you'll never get rid of me, right?"
When he finally answers, it's in typical Hanma style – jokingly, but also very seriously:
"Fine. Take me. But if you ever hate me, there'll be no turnin' back, because I'll be too used to your lil' face."
A ring? Hanma doesn't wear normal rings.
The next day, he comes to you with two matte black wedding rings.
One has the word "CHAOS" tattooed on the inside (yes, tattooed, not engraved), and the other has "SHŪJI/Y/N"
"You choose which one you want. I'll wear the one with your name on the inside anyway."
For the first two or three weeks after the proposal, he goes through a phase of calling you "fiancé" at every possible moment, but he says it in a tone like he's testing how it sounds and simultaneously checking if it annoys you.
"Hey fiancé, pass the salt."
"Fiancé, where are my lighters?"
"Hey fiancé, come here for a second, I want to show you something on my phone."
(That "something" is always memes or pictures of cats.)
He starts planning the wedding very quickly... but in the worst possible way. "Do you think that we can get some ex-members from Toman and Valhalla to the wedding without 'em killing each other?"
"I want the cake to say SHŪJI & Y/N and be all black."
"If you don't want a DJ, I'll play the music myself. I have the perfect playlist for a brawl."
"Kisaki will be sore ass that I got married before he got a girlfriend"
The night after the proposal, when you're already lying together, he suddenly says quietly, almost in a whisper (a rarity for him):
"Y'know... I never thought anyone would want to keep me permanently. Especially someone like you."
And right after, to ruin the moment: "Now you're officially the most fucked-up choice of my life. Congratulations."
For a long time after the proposal, whenever someone asks him, "So when's the wedding?", he replies with that sly smirk of his:
"When my fiancée/fucking bastard decides he's tired of seein' my face every day. Which is probably never."
But really... he wears that ring constantly. Even when he's fighting, even when he's working, even when he's sleeping.
Once, it fell off during a fight, and he went back to get it in the middle of it.
"I'm not leavin' without it, sorry."
The biggest plot twist?
A few months later, in the middle of a regular evening, while you're watching something on the couch, Hanma suddenly says:
"Y'know what, Y/N? I think I want to get married this year. 'cause if I like someone so much... I'd rather seal it before I get bored of living without 'em."
And he looks at you with those yellow-purple eyes of his, which this time are exceptionally soft. "So, fiancé? Will you stick with me until the end?"
— a character analysis (yapping session, mostly) on the eldest haitani brother.
part i. the petals, who is ran haitani?
when one thinks of ran, charisma might just be the picture inside their minds. it’s exactly what he represents, and part of the reason as to why he is so loved. on the surface, he’s stylish, charismatic, and cocky.
ran knows how to present himself in such a way, others have no choice but to admire him. he’s confident and very strong, appearing so sure of himself before outsiders. one might think he has no weaknesses, his success explained by the single emotion he parades around everyone else.
you barely get to see him out of his shit-eating grin in the manga, always teasing and mocking. putting others below him, so successful and incredibly popular —one thinks.
but, is that all there really is to him?
part ii. complexity, what makes ran— ran?
ran haitani, behind the façade he puts up to appear so grand, is in fact, a boy much like the rest. confident, sure, but with a heart of his own and a hint of tenderness that is hard to acknowledge for most.
a sleepy, moody, boy who would much rather sleep than attend parties and get-togethers. a boy who loves his sweets, and taking care of himself to look his best. a boy with a dream, that we get to see him chasing by how he carries himself.
ran haitani is smart, having keen instincts, but deep down a kid that wants to have fun. gangs aren’t all to him, violence not the solution to his every problem and his motive, but rather a way to be what he has always wanted to —a celebrity of sorts.
it’s hard to pinpoint ran’s upbringing due to his lack of a proper backstory, but i believe him to be a spoiled kid who has always wanted more. stepping out of the shadows of his family to cast his own, while his brother stands beside him (and not in his shadow like rindou himself thinks, but that’s a different analysis).
he’s vicious and greedy, wanting to be at the top because it’s what he’s seen and admired ever since he was a low-ranking member of a gang. he wanted what those boys had, taking it away from them in the worst way possible —but in the most effective one in the world they are part of. he uses his intelligence for this, and the success is palpable.
but that’s only the half of ran that swirls in violence, written in the tattoo taking a part of his body. the other half, however, is the empty skin where the puzzle piece fits —rindou’s tattoo, the heart of his brother that completes his own.
because above all, ran haitani is caring and kind. the people he lets into his heart are absolute, attaching himself to and understanding them well. he cares for the hidden bonds that izana denied out of anger, but that were there for tenjiku, and he respects them and is mindful of those that can break it because he’s human.
he cares for rindou, and stays by his side no matter what. their strength remains in their brotherhood; it collapses when his younger brother is defeated, because the concern clouds the mind. ran and rindou are one, even remaining together in the future despite the difference in their dreams. (and considering their occupation, it seems ran was the one to step down to help rindou with his dream). although not very present or relevant, ran remains one of the best examples of an older brother throughout the series.
though i feel like, if there’s one moment where ran’s real character (and potential) shines more than any other time, it’s during izana’s death. the only real instance where we get a peek on who ran really is, the personality underneath the cocky viciousness and unfaltering grins. his heart is exposed and vulnerable in front of everyone else, giving full closure to izana’s own dream of creating a family of his own. ran’s heart is just as soft as any other, just tucked in with multiple layers of indifference and ego.
unfortunately, ran suffers from what many other characters in different animes do, the lazy face and arrogant smile syndrome. and, as well, got extra damage from the characterization that inevitably came with all of bonten.
part iii. bonten, why is ran so mischaracterized?
man, why is bonten so mischaracterized would be the better question. could do a whole series from it, too. most characters reduced to a single trait or sentence said throughout the arc.
what has ran been accused of? i’ve seen it all i think: a manwhore, cheater, abuser, alcoholic man who probably wouldn’t even care about anyone at all. and two ideas sprouting from this make me extremely upset. one, this characterization has been carried down to tenjiku/rt/kmg ran, and two, people will argue that this is true to ran’s character and who he really is.
is it? no. with the lack of bonten information, we can’t pretend this is how they behave. none of these men aspired to become criminals in the future, only did it for izana’s sake (in most cases). obviously, as part of a criminal group, it’s safe to assume he’s done some terrible shit. but does that include all listed above? let’s see.
why is it that ran is seen as a manwhore? he’s attractive and charismatic, a celebrity in his own territory, but this is probably only referring to the delinquent world. i doubt ran gets a girl every time there’s a party in his apartment when he doesn’t even appear to like those much. and i find it hard to believe that he’d spend his entire nights in nightclubs with strippers in his bonten days. why is that the normal with bonten fics? it has been said that bonten is involved with prostitution, but bonten is much more than those 8.
now, let’s make up these two cases. one, ran haitani has an established partner heading into bonten. he cares, cares and loves so much he’d make sure nothing would happen to them. wouldn’t even think of getting them involved. yeah, maybe the relationship grows a little gloomier. it is bonten after all, and mikey’s dark impulses are kind of just slithering into everyone’s lives. but i think that, assuming he just instantly becomes a cheater and abuser is just losing the plot. let’s try not to reduce the little personality we got of him even more.
second case scenario, ran haitani doesn’t have a partner. i believe this is the most likely choice, i don’t believe ran to focus so much on potential partners, or being a womanizer enough to charm every woman he meets. he’d much rather stick close to the people he calls family, and not rope in someone innocent to this whole mess. as much as i love ran (i love him a lot i think it shows) i personally believe he’s a person that does well on his own without a partner, not actively looking for one. focusing on his life and his brother’s, and the deep shit they are stuck into with bonten.
no tokyo revengers character is fully good, that’s what makes them so intriguing! and while ran haitani has a lot of questionable traits that make a terrible person to come across as an enemy, he has as much of a heart as any other character. the man has emotions, they just haven’t been explored by the author :(
part iv. respect, dignity & admiration, afterthought
in no way am i the haitani police (i am actually, just undercover) to tell you how to interpret a character. the fun in those who don’t get much information is to make up a background for them ! no correct answer since nothing has been said. however, i simply do not like this whole thing about ran being a horrible person and treating someone like they aren’t even a human being and people pushing it so hard to be canon. bonten has hurt many, and wattpad books too, i know they have some kind of fault.
ran haitani is such a beautiful character to explore, there’s many layers to him even if there’s none to see at first. a bratty, childish man who appears cold and cocky but is actually incredibly smart, and so vulnerable and caring. but that doesn’t do well in the world he moves around in doesn’t it? he’s such a silly little guy, and in my own little twist of things i believe him to be quite the loser.
i’m sure that while, it could be hard to approach him and get close, once he has a partner he’d be so loving and loyal. angst assured bc he probably would try to push them away at some point, but all efforts to be with him would be so worth it. he’d be a little possessive, maybe sometimes a little bit toxic, but with its up and downs it would be a beautiful relationship.
sad to see he has fallen into the fuckboy character stereotype, and bonten doesn’t do any of their members justice either. but despite all of that, i’ll always headcanon ran to be the hopeless romantic type, just keeping it well to himself. but once he loves, he loves. and it makes it so worth writing for him.
at the end of the day, all the different versions one comes across is what keeps the character alive, like them more or less. still, he shouldn’t be just reduced to a so called sex god who also doesn’t even know what an emotion is. or those theories that were so popular back then, shivers.
so yeah, happy birthday to ran <3 what a character am i right.
Warnings: 18+ content, unhealthy relationships, typical canon violence, threats, toxic behavior, manipulation, all characters in this work are portrayed as 18 or older.
Important:This analysis is my own and is not intended to dismiss others. Throughout the headcanon, I provide certain personality descriptions that attempt to be vague or broad enough to appeal to all types of readers. I apologize in advance if I haven't succeeded. It's important to mention that, unlike the relationship analysis I did with Slashers, I didn't take any creative liberties here. Everything I put here is what I genuinely believe would happen with each character. Finally, remember that fiction is fiction, and these dynamics should never be replicated in real life.
Only adult versions of Mikey. I would describe each one, but it's better to provide the most general version possible because they all share common traits.
Mikey and his "dark impulses" act like an iron wall when it comes to relationships. In a purely realistic characterization, we could assume that affective/sexual relationships would be closed off because he locked himself away to avoid hurting anyone else. This version makes perfect sense. But for the sake of the analysis, we will continue.
Mikey, in all his versions, would be terribly distant. He would have conflicting feelings about you: on one hand, you might consciously annoy him, but you wouldn't be to blame for it. In reality, the fact that you have "too human" reactions (crying, laughing, getting excited) would remind him of everything he lost—and everything lost by those who stayed by his side and risked themselves to help him. That would make him colder, more evasive, and cruel. He would hate that you constantly remind him of those he lost, and at times, you would believe the void in his gaze is pure hatred.
If we go deeper into the analysis—without intending to romanticize him through his trauma—we could think that this surface-level hatred hides something much darker: he is cold and evasive because he believes he will lose you too. It is a way of protecting himself to cushion the blow. It’s not something he can mediate or control; it’s just a fucked-up defense strategy developed so he could survive in hostile environments with no future. It might sound terrifying that Mikey, in every version, carries deep within him the idea that you will also die and he will be unable to stop it.
Even so, on the surface, he won't realize this. He will convince you, everyone else, and himself that he only uses you because you are compliant. On the other hand, being with Mikey means you have to bite your tongue. He is not someone you can joke with or treat as an equal; he is not your partner, he is your superior. Any lack of respect will be punished to the extreme. Mikey, for most of his adulthood, is apathetic and empty. He can make cruel decisions with the justification that "everything ends this way eventually," while ignoring that black hole in his chest that drives him to act that way.
I don't mean to ignore that he is just a broken man whose life conditions, interests, and skills forced him into a high-risk environment where he had to endure the death of his loved ones. But unfortunately, this doesn't turn him into a clingy boyfriend who holds onto you as his anchor. In fact, contradictorily, him pulling away and being cold most of the time is the greatest act of affection he could give you. If he didn't care about you, he would let you cling to him, because he wouldn't suffer internally if something bad happened to you.
Finally, what is indisputable is that you would have great security, and if resources allow, you will have everything you need. You will be constantly at risk because his life will never cease to be dangerous. In reality, he could be quite functional at keeping you safe, at the cost of your freedom and ability to choose. He won't ask if you agree; he will simply decide for you. He would have high levels of control, coldness, and evasion. He will order you not to be a traitor; he will tell you exactly what will happen to you if you decide it's a good idea to sleep with someone else or open your mouth to anyone about his business—and you will understand and do nothing to anger him.
Beyond that, I don’t see much. He won't be overtly jealous, possessive, or obsessive. He is what he is at this point: a man capable of locking you up because your presence generates something in him that he cannot, and will not, put a name to at that moment. His "care" will be protecting you while evading your emotions and attachments with a coldness that could hurt you if you are emotionally vulnerable. And that distant, seemingly disinterested attitude is what would make you realize he is trying to protect himself from your inevitable end by his side.
Kazutora
In his adult version, he carries a heavy load of guilt and self-loathing. No matter how much therapy he takes, his structural intensity will make it very difficult for him to rid himself of his destructive self-perception. Deep down, he will always feel like a traitor who has a life he doesn't deserve—one obtained through deception at the cost of his mistakes and the pain of others. He will try to rehabilitate himself and succeed. He will do things better and be quite decent. But a part of him died with his teenage mistakes. He would have to reframe that part in a healthy way for it to coexist with his new growth.
I don't think a toxic or healthy relationship makes a difference for him; the problem is that he is a candidate for both. Listen to me: he isn't easily manipulated, but if you touch a large part of his traumatic core, he could momentarily fall into destructive relationships. This is my headcanon because I think it would be ideal for him to simply follow the "good relationship manual" to the letter, but reality is different. His intensity is repressed by guilt, but it’s still there. He is a very intense person; it’s part of his nature.
And with that comes the other story: a healthy relationship. I used to think this was the ideal scenario—that a person would help him heal his sorrows, accompany him in his process, and be excessively empathetic. This would make him let go and start believing again that he can, in fact, be happy. Fatal error. I realized I wasn't thinking it through. Kazutora is so intense and obsessive that forgiving and understanding isn't enough; he has to remedy the error. That will always be the thorn in his side.
Whether you are toxic or healthy, he will try to do it right. He will set boundaries, talk about what bothers him, and walk with you at night like a normal couple. But his mind will always be fixed on the mistakes he committed and what he could do to mitigate them. It doesn't matter if you are a very good manipulator or a person who helps him improve; his mind will always be elsewhere. That’s just how he is; his obsession and intensity aren't hidden, they just changed direction. And it’s not exactly directed at you.
I couldn't tell you if the relationship would end or not, but I can tell you that you would be with a man who will never be with you entirely. His guilt is too big. He is ashamed of who he is. There will be days when he will be distant and won't want you to look at him too much. Other days, you’ll eat under the starlight and feel like things are resolved. It will be full of highs and lows where you genuinely might want to escape. If you ever have a massive fight, he will completely overflow. He doesn't want to be that impulsive and aggressive Kazutora. The downside is that he sees any hint of a fight as a future "overflow" that could lead to bad decisions. Because of this, it will be exhausting; depending on his state, your words could make him sad or angry.
Even too much understanding on your part could make him uncomfortable. He wouldn't understand how you can accept his "deplorable" actions; he’ll think you’re being manipulative or, at best, too naive. He’ll think you don't see the whole picture or the gravity of what he did. At the same time, if you make him feel too guilty, you don't win either. It’s hard to win with Kazutora.
On the bright side, you could have nice afternoons and conversations when he is stable. A fairly decent and loving sexuality. He will put effort into dates, and you will love it when he is soft and calm. You could be in the same room without speaking—you doing your thing and him, with his melancholy beauty transformed by grief, doing his, his gaze lost and guilty. You’ll sigh quietly. It saddens you that you can't make him forget.
Sanzu
Oh, this man. You’re not going to like me here, and you won't agree with me. Still, I’ll take the risk.
Yes, first and foremost, his loyalty to Mikey is monolithic and unquestionable. He would undoubtedly hurt you if Mikey said so. But this isn't surprising; we all expected it. Mikey will always be his priority. However, compared to other analyses, I don't think Mikey would ever order that. Not because he loves you or likes you, but because Sanzu would remain just as functional and faithful to him even if Mikey didn't care about your existence. He knows that if he calls Sanzu, Sanzu would leave you alone without hesitation to help him. Killing you would be useless, and he doesn't do things that don't matter. So, little masochist, that won't be your problem here. You’ll have worse (and more entertaining) ones, haha.
Sanzu doesn't need to divide his obsessions. What I mean is that Mikey will always be his greatest obsession, but that doesn't negate other fixations—much less important than Mikey, but present nonetheless. He is sadistic; he gets bored. Mikey is everything, but he will indulge in personal pleasures that don't harm the leader. Mainly because he can. Having a person at his disposal who he can keep quiet and compliant doesn't cost him much money or logistics. And betraying Mikey wouldn't be on your agenda, because he wouldn't find a woman who knows how to navigate the underworld. He would find someone normal who has no idea how the hell to get out of his web. That would be his perverse pleasure. And that pleasure would be you.
From here on, there’s a lot of analysis that only makes sense if you understand his personality as a whole and not as an archetype. Sanzu would be abusive, degrading, and sadistic. It would be terrible. It would be the most traumatic relationship of your life. At the same time, he wouldn't let you go and would be terribly obsessive. How do I justify this? No matter who you are or what the hell you whisper in his ear, Sanzu is obsessive by nature. Mikey will always be first, but if he has someone he sleeps with every day, who cries in his ear and whom he can destroy, he will inevitably become hooked. If he keeps you, it’s because he likes you. You will end up enchanting him; it’s inevitable. He is like a parasitic host that feeds on your vitality. He is needy and, at the same time, sadistic and violent.
Let’s move to the next point. In Bonten, he takes a pill. There is an idea that he is a drug addict and would be very unfaithful because of this. Or, in more optimistic analyses, they say he would be faithful except when under the influence. Respectfully, I disagree. In my opinion, Sanzu would never "black out." He is the number two of the most powerful criminal organization. Mikey’s mad dog and right hand. If he loses control, he becomes a risk. There are women and cunning assets there waiting for any moment of weakness. He would probably do drugs, sometimes, using a stimulant that would make him hyper-alert and more functional. He would see everyone else's intentions before they even act, and that would probably lower his libido because he would see in those women's body language that they don't actually want him—that they might even despise him or be secretly afraid. Going out to sleep around repulses him because he always feels like someone is going to stab him in the back. He lives in a state of paranoia.
This is where you win, because he comes home and sees you there—monitored, with indelible marks on your body, your makeup smeared, and your hair a mess. Exactly how he left you. He would feel your racing heart, your sweat, your genuine and messy moans. Your lost gaze. That damn "I love you" about to leave your mouth, a prisoner of his toxicity and intensity. And he would see that it’s all real. So fucking real. And you would be so easy to lock away (in his luxury home) that, for logistics and obsession, he will want to keep breaking you. Always. He is not a man of flings. He is a man who plays and becomes fixed forever when he loves something. You decide if enchanting him is a good or bad thing. (Only I could make this man's fidelity sound terrifying, haha).
Ran Haitani
Here we go, disagreeing again. If I only looked at Ran's aesthetic, the "fandom" version makes sense. But I’m going to look deeper into the logic of everything he’s lived through.
Ran is Rindou's older brother. They both grew up practically alone in the world. I know being a good brother doesn't mean you're a good man—you can be a good brother and a bad guy. Those can coexist. However, while Ran and Rindou like the gang lifestyle and fighting, they didn't seem emotionally connected to the problems that arose (except with Izana in Tenjiku). Afterward, they didn't seem to care much. This leads me to believe his sadism stems from the concept of being a "show." And at the same time, as a survival strategy. It’s not a structural sadism like Sanzu’s.
This is complemented by the fact that Ran is Rindou's provider. His younger brother follows him and respects him with a hint of fear—the kind you have for an older brother who had to play a role that wasn't his. Ran is very good at reading people and environments; you develop those skills when you look after someone younger. He’s had to move in hostile environments since forever. He likely had no one but himself and his brother. That ability to read environments and the fact that he isn't a "sadist by nature" (meaning ruthless and cold just because) makes him a man who would notice your sorrows and your sadness.
Since we take out the idea that he makes others suffer for no reason—that his sadism doesn't feed on unconsciousness but rather the premise of "it's them or us, we’ll win with style"—it makes no sense for him to make you suffer just because through infidelities. You aren't a rival or an enemy; you aren't a potential traitor and you’re nothing like the people Ran has had to deal with. Why would he do that to you? For a "low-class" sadism? Who do you think he is? Hanma?
In reality, I see him as a normal guy who is very social and can enter social circles easily. It’s likely he’s had a couple of relationships that didn't work for other reasons, not because he decided overnight to cheat on the person he chose. I can't say much about Bonten Ran because there’s no info, but his status as a dangerous man doesn't change my analysis. I see him as a guy with sporadic relationships that might progress or not. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Period.
If it does, that’s when he would protect you and teach you how to move in his world so nothing happens to you. But the idea of him being a relentless cheater and extremely cruel doesn't fit with who he actually is beyond the "vibes." He wouldn't be the "best" boyfriend because I think he’d be very passive; I’m not saying he wouldn't try, but he wouldn't put all his effort into the relationship. He’d just let it flow. That fits his usual calm and his ability to lighten the mood. He’s worked hard for everything for Rindou; that’s why I think with a partner, he’d allow himself to be more passive. I also don't think he’d be very picky. That’s why I think Rindou actually makes for a "better" boyfriend (by extension, since Ran is more of a "lukewarm" option). Lukewarm can be good or bad. Ran will know things about you, your reactions, everything. That doesn't change the fact that some of your dates might just be for sleeping (some, not all, haha).
Rindou Haitani
Here we can reconcile. Rindou is the second-best boyfriend in the Tokyo Revengers character book on the Tenjiku scale (referring to adult Rindou), below Kakucho and above Kokonoi.
First, I don't see him as "the best of the worst" because Kakucho would objectively be a good boyfriend and Kokonoi has shown a capacity for attachment. I assume Rindou would be functional, though that doesn't mean he’s a walking green flag—no one is. At the same time, Rindou drinks a lot, likes parties, and his world is generally chaos. I think his functionality as a boyfriend doesn't lie in his personality, but rather in the friction caused by his environment. I don't think he is a "bad option" because he himself would make you suffer, but rather because his routine would make things difficult.
Like Ran, his violence is aesthetic. He enjoys it, but I think he could live without it (his dream is to be a DJ). In my view, you’d have to connect with him, and that would be harder than with Ran because he’s likely less social than his brother (though everyone is compared to Ran's charisma). Once you connect, I think he’d try to distance you because of his lifestyle. The gang/mafia life is no place for just anyone. You’d have to be insistent, but he wouldn't change his routines for you. You could approach him while he’s with friends in the park drinking; he’d look at you seriously but wouldn't kick you out to avoid looking weak in front of others.
You get closer like that, little by little, and he might start opening up. It’s likely most of the time you’d have to approach while Ran is there, and since Ran is pure charisma, he’d make you feel comfortable (while teasing). If you were very insistent, they’d talk between themselves, mocking you a bit; as long as you aren't a stalker, you’ll have opportunities.
In the relationship itself, I think he’d take you to places that don't imply risk for you (like a gang fight). They’d be dates just for the two of you. Often you’ll hang out with both brothers. It would be a fairly "normal" relationship within the realm of possibility. The problem arises when he’s with his friends all day or wakes up drinking and you want more time. In that case, there would be friction—not because he wants to be a heartless idiot, but because he is a man with an ego, used to winning and having the last word. That would clash with your demands, mostly because he isn't used to them. He also wouldn't want to be seen as "soft."
This would cause real problems, but could be easily overlooked because he’ll take you on outings where the risk is low and you can be seen without being harmed. I see it as one of those typical relationships where each has their free time and respects the other's, so that when they meet up, they share a fun time. I see him keeping things superficial. I don't think you could talk about very deep feelings with him. Ran and Rindou are a team with a specific context; that makes them interesting. I rule out them being sadistic idiots to people who haven't done anything to them. But they are interested in aesthetics, recognition, and survival. Talking about deep topics might clash with his need to disconnect and have a good time (justified by the parties, heavy drinking, and impulsivity). In short: a decent boyfriend who buys you what you want, gives you fun moments, and protects you, but with the risk of not having a very deep relationship in terms of complexity.
Kisaki
With Hanma and Kisaki, we’ll definitely agree because they have the clearest profiles in the manga. Both react to attachments and bonds.
Let’s set Hina aside. Pretend he never noticed her, or that his obsession ended, or this happens after. Or pretend she doesn't exist. If you don't reject him, it's a "better" scenario—but very lethal for you.
If he wants to marry you and you don't want to get married in general, that is a rejection to him. He hates feeling rejected. If he wants you not to work, and you do, you’re rejecting him. You see the pattern, right? Yes, it's fun to imagine he’ll give you every luxury and be devoted and compliant. But rejecting him is not something you can do. He will take control of everything. And the worst part is that in his twisted mind, if you reject things like marriage or staying home, it’s just "temporary friction." You aren't rejecting him, but ideas external to him. He is smart; he’ll know how to separate the two. The difference is he will force things until they fit his desires.
He won't give you freedom of choice because you will inevitably be "less intelligent" than him in his eyes. If you were as smart as him, he wouldn't accept you because he doesn't understand love without control. If you were an equal, you’d know where to bend him, and he can't risk that. So he will minimize you and make decisions for you. He’ll keep you away from the gang/mafia world because he’d want to keep you "clean" so you don't develop cunning. He doesn't need you to be quick or witty.
If you’ve lived a life where you’ve had to prove your skills and you’re tired of it and want to turn your brain off, Kisaki is your man. He needs you to be his breather and to feel like he can control you. He doesn't function any other way. He doesn't need constant mental stimulation; he gets that from his business. Plus, he couldn't stand you giving him lessons on what to do. Surprisingly, he would caress your cheek softly. He is obsessive, though always calculating. Both coexist. He’ll want to be soft with you because he’s obsessed, but every word is calculated to trap you in his web.
His fixation would keep you hooked. If you are attracted to him, you are attracted to the darkness. That means you’d love knowing that if you say no, he’ll ruin your life. When you sit and cry because of his control, he will kneel, touch your cheek softly, and tell you to marry him, to live with him. He’ll say he doesn't want to see you stressed, that he’ll give you everything you need. He will be so fucking sweet—this man is a total danger, but so addictive.
Never touch his ego. Never. The difference with other obsessives is that he would go from one extreme to the other: either you obey him or he hurts you because you rejected him. The only thing that would calm him is you saying "yes." He loves the "yes" blooming from your lips. He doesn't need you to be a challenge. He’s not the type to lose interest if you’re clingy; for him, it's better if you’re "easy." It makes it easier to mold you.
It’s likely that if you say yes to this man, you’ll never stop. You’ll live for years in his luxury house with zero freedom and a life you never wanted. He will convince you that this is the best life for both of you. This man is a perfect candidate for those relationships that survive the years but where the other person is totally consumed, constantly thinking, "What if...?" He won't make you shut up, but you will learn not to disappoint or anger him. An obsessive you will love because he’ll see you as perfect, finding no flaws—and at the same time, you’ll hate him for stealing your life and identity.
Hanma
Hanma bores me because he’s predictable. He’s the typical adrenaline seeker. As long as you are entertaining, you’ll have him in the clouds. That won't stop him from seeing other girls from time to time or having reckless behavior. He seeks instant gratification, so all his decisions are based on that. You’ll suffer a lot if you take him too seriously. He’s perfect for a relationship where you just want to live and lose yourself in chaos for a bit. Nothing more. Risk-taking and self-destructive behaviors will be frequent.
He prefers someone he can share the chaos with. This is the only profile where contrast wouldn't be attractive to him. Let me explain: with Mikey, Kazutora, Sanzu, Ran, Rindou, and Kisaki, the fact that you are different from them would be very appealing. With Hanma, he wouldn't accept that contrast. He needs chaos, speed, and madness. If you are the opposite, he might be fascinated by the idea of "corrupting" you (like Sanzu), but Hanma doesn't have an obsessive personality, so it would be a failure and he’d discard you quickly.
In the case that you are like him and provide constant stimulation, it gets interesting. This is where I stop being bored. Now, this is a theory of mine: Hanma can feel attachment. We see it with Kisaki. That means in his twisted way, he can appreciate certain dynamics. My more cynical self would say that just because he felt attachment to Kisaki doesn't mean he’d feel it for a partner. But I’d respond that the capacity for attachment/fixation means the person isn't "dead" inside.
There is a space in his capacity for attachment where you could fit as a "constant" that he doesn't dare eliminate. That’s why being like him—or as close as possible—will help you. Follow him in his chaos; build it and tear it down. Be unpredictable. Become that constant that fits so well into his chaos that he feels particularly naked when you're gone. If he hits a rival gang, insult them intelligently, hit them in a way that makes him laugh, or be crude and jokey with them. Doesn't matter, but do something he wants to preserve and that amuses him enormously.
He is an addict to those who give him chaos and fun. If you make him believe you are his equal, any woman who approaches him for money or power will just be a one-night stand, and in the morning he’ll come back to you. Over time, he might think you are part of his brutal escapades and simply add you as if it were a natural state. He’ll call you excitedly to tell you what you’re doing that day, and you, of course, will be just as excited as he is, and he’ll love it.
At the end of the game, he would go crazy if his "constant" was gone one day. He would search for you by sea, land, and sky—not out of "love," but because he got used to hearing you, seeing you, and having you participate with him. In his world of instant dopamine, this is the most real form of attachment for Hanma. A bit mediocre, yes. But very much his style.
Note: I apologize for the late update but my laptop decided to be a bitch and crash on me. But never mind that here it is and I will see you next week.

The Art of War Masterlist
“Is that how you treat your savior Kanin?”
Izana snaps his head towards you. He stared you for a good minute before straitening his posture. “Get out.” He said to Kakucho who left in a hurry.
You leaned onto the wooden table ushering Rainha to leave you with Izana. The white serpent bowed her head and left. You turned your attention back to the white haired male. He swallowed a lump stuck in his throat.
“Are you real?” He stepped closer to you barely leaving any space in between you two.
“Perhaps I’m just a fragment of your imagination.” You smirked slightly at him before grabbing a hold of his hand. With other hand you cupped his cheek. “Am I?”
Before you could utter another word his lips were on yours. He held you closely as if you were going to disappear right from his arms if he didn’t. You wrapped one of your arms around his neck and the other you placed on his chest to feel his rapid heartbeat. This was no dream and you thanked the gods for it.
As you pulled away you held his face. “Are you real?” You question and his face contorts as if he was in pain before he pressed his lips against yours once again.
His hands found themselves at the back of your thighs picking you up and sitting you on the make shift table. He positioned himself in between your spread legs while not moving his lips away from yours.
It took him full five or so minutes to satisfy his need for you. He was desperate for the touch he only hand nightmares about for the past five years he hadn’t seen you. Until he finally separated form you with heavy breaths leaving his lips.
“Do you have any idea what you did to me? What you did to us?” He glared at you. There was fury in his beautiful eyes.
“Izana…” You sighed but were interrupted by the man himself.
“You just left, there was no anger no sadness nothing on your face…” It was your turn to interrupt him.
“I never show my emotions and you know that, it has always been like that.” You furrowed your eyebrows at him.
“You showed them to me.”
“Because you caught me off guard.” You regretted the words you spoke the moment they left your mouth.
He raised his eyebrow at you. “You left me. Do you have any idea how much that hurt?”
“And you think I wasn’t hurting?” You stood on both your legs. The pain in your abdomen made you steady yourself with the table. “I was so fucking alone and I wish I could have done something, anything to go back. They watched me around the clock, I couldn’t send a bloody letter.” You clenched your jaw. “It wasn’t any different there than back home, fuck it was worse. In their eyes I was a power hungry whore who seduced an old man, their children were tormenting me, fuck they were mostly older than me. I was younger than children of a man I was supposed to pleasure.”
“Did you?” He glared at you.
Before he knew or even realized his words your hand had already hit his cheek. So hard in fact that his whole head turned to the side and there was an imprint of your hand on his cheek. He swallowed a lump in his throat.
“He tried to force himself on me. He paid no attention to me for a full year until he saw that I wasn’t terrified of snakes. He had some sick fantasy of having sex while surrounded with venomous serpents; do you have any idea how that feels?” You were finally speaking his mind in front of him; you weren’t the cold first princess he knew five years ago. “No amount of scrubbing will erase it; the feeling of his lips, tongue and filthy hands on my skin. I feel so fucking disgusted with myself because I couldn’t do shit.” Your shaking dominant hand caught Izana’s eye. “All I was allowed to do to keep my head attached to my shoulders was laying still and let him.”
The young man from Vuur held your shaking hand. He swallowed a lump forming in his throat before pressing a kiss on your knuckles. He then placed his free hand on the side of your neck gently rubbing his thumb against your jaw.
“You don’t seem to mind my hands on you.” He stepped closer to you staring at you in the eyes. “The king sits on his throne, he doesn’t dirty his hands, his blade was never stained with blood and if anything he might as well be the cleanest person in the whole country.”
His other hand wrapped around your waist, his action making you hiss in pain as he grazed your wounded abdomen. He stiffened at the sound you let out before forcing himself to be gentler with you; treating you as if you were made of glass.
“Do you know how much dirt is on my hands, how many lives my blade has taken, how filthy I am?” His look was intense so much so you didn’t dare to speak. “Were you disgusted by his hands because he was an old man?”
“You fool.” You spoke up. “I was disgusted by his hands because they weren’t yours. I was nauseous every time his lips were on my skin because they weren’t yours. I would scrub my skin every night because I didn’t want anyone touching me like that, no one but you. And you glare at me like I wanted all of this!”
Your words left him stunned. “You should stop touching me.” You spoke up making him furrow his eyebrows at you. “I’m not clean anymore, I still feel his hands on me in my nightmares, I…”
You stayed interrupted by his lips pressing against yours. “And you call me a fool.” He pressed his forehead against yours closing his eyes. “I don’t care for you because you never touched a man before. I care for you because you’re brave…” He pressed a peck on your nose. “Because you are smart…” He pressed another kiss on your forehead. “Because you are selfless… most of the time…” He smirked at you. “You weren’t supposed to save my life, in fact you should have let me get killed.”
You furrowed your eyebrows at him.
“I know everything princess.” He stared at your eyes. “You started a rebellion with all of the noble children, with a goal of making Thymos a place for both people of blue blood and the commoners. You wanted to create a world without wars, without slaves, without pain and suffering. And to reach that goal you needed to get rid of your father before he chose a crown prince. My death would have been a perfect opportunity to show how ruthless and untruthful the king really was. But instead you kept me alive, risking your dreams in the process.”
He was in fact correct. You weren’t supposed to save Izana that day. You were supposed to let it happen, spread the rumor and like you said yourself. With enough unfaithful people even a god can be taken down.
“Will you tell me why you did it or not?” He questioned. “You’re no longer a princess but my subordinate.” He smirked down at you.
Was he looking down on you because you were a woman? You raised an eyebrow at him. You wrapped your hands around his neck pretending that you were going to kiss him before sliding your leg in between his and hooking it behind his knee. You pulled making him lose his balance and almost fall to the ground. He would fall on his back side if you weren’t holding him up.
“That is exactly why you should watch how you talk to me.” You smirked down on him and he swallowed yet another lump forming in his throat. “I’m no longer a helpless little princess who needs your protection.” You winked before pulling him up.
“That was nothing but a dirty trick.” He complained.
“Was it now?” You grinned at him. “I’m an almost fallen solider am I not? It’s impossible for us to have a fair fight.”
Izana shook his head slightly before he pressed his lips onto yours. “I missed you.” He nuzzled into your neck holding you close.
“I missed you too.” You enveloped him into your embrace. “However I really want to see everyone as well.” You added and he nodded into your neck.
“You have no idea how much we suffered after hearing news of your death.” He cupped your cheek. “Shin lost it, Taiju started a war as you see for yourself, Emma didn’t leave her bedroom for weeks and even after that she would occasionally make an appearance for a short periods of time, Mikey was pissed as all hell, and so many people shed tears for you. I didn’t even know you were that influential…”
“Not that you could know, based on what you saw.”
“Yeah… I suppose you will explain everything how you came to be dead and alive when we are grouped up?” He questioned.
“You are not wrong. Now help me get to Taiju.”
“Yes your majesty.” He mocked you as he offered you his hand to walk you to the biggest tent in the camp.
As you reached the tent you could practically see Taiju’s shadow moving back and forth frantically. “We did well Taiju.” You could hear Kokonoi’s voice reassuring your younger brother. You stopped Izana from moving just outside the tent to hear their conversation before you decided to make your appearance.
“I know.” He sighed. “But that kid got hurt badly. If he dies we lose one of your biggest advantages.” Was he worried for you? “What about Inui? How is he holding up?” He questioned.
Could it be that he knew?
“He got hurt slightly but nothing life threatening, I can only thank gods for that.” Kokonoi sighed.
“That is good. I would not want my most capable advisor out of commission.” You could practically see him smirking.
“Yeah, yeah you are so funny.” Koko was definitely rolling his eyes.
To you it was no secret that Kokonoi had a certain type of interest in his bodyguard. You noticed him secretly eyeing him from the corner of his cat like eyes. When you managed to pull him away from the crowd of overly proud nobles you questioned his interest.
Kokonoi’s eyes widened in fear, it was nothing but a taboo to be interested in the same gender amongst the noble ranks. Many nobles still slept behind the backs of their spouses and same sex encounters were far more common than some would think. Or that was what you knew and Kokonoi didn’t.
He couldn’t threaten you since you were the first born child of a king, he couldn’t buy your silence since you had far more than he did and he couldn’t deny it because the royalty is never in the wrong even if they are. So he resorted to one last thing. Begging… and as he was about to fall to his knees you placed your gloved hand on his shoulder and said the most comforting words he would hope to hear.
“That is completely alright. You cannot help who you fall in love with. But for your sake I recommend you not to secretly glance at him so frequently. Your father will get suspicious and well I suppose you know what happens then?”
You gave him advice every time he needed it. Your words were always kind with no judgment behind them whatsoever. There was no woman he trusted more than you, not his own mother. And the only person he trusted more than you would be Inui himself.
Taiju sighed. “This would be easier if she was here.”
You eyed Izana who was patiently waiting for your sign to move. You nodded and Izana cleared his throat before he moved the fabric at the entrance aside. “There is someone who wants to see you, your majesty.” He kept a polite tone.
Taiju noticed someone holding onto Izana and his eyebrows furrowed. He nodded at him and when the white haired man entered the tent with you by his side Taiju thought he was hallucinating.
Your dominant hand started shaking. “Long time no see Tai…”
Your little brother clenched his jaw and fists as he straightened his back and made a few steps towards you, which seamed dreadfully long to you. He just stared at you making you feel uneasy.
“For fuck sake say something.” You became more anxious by the second. “I know you must be mad as all hell but…”
Taiju wrapped his hands around your waist pulling you into an embrace and shocking you enough to make you stop talking. You in return wrapped your arms around his neck and you could feel his shoulders shaking under your touch. He buried his head into the crook of your neck and you swore you could feel something wet on your skin.
You didn’t know how long you stayed like that; it could have been a couple of seconds or a full hour. By the time he pulled away his eyes were glossy and red, his lips were dry and chapped and his nose felt stuffy and he had a need to blow it.
He felt pathetic for crying while hugging his big sister but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t know how to feel. Was he angry because you were alive all this time and didn’t come back? Was he relieved that you are alive and safe contrary to his belief? Or was he perhaps happy that you were here right next to him to offer him guidance when needed.
“How…?” His raspy voice caught him off guard for a slight second before he cleared his throat wording his thoughts. “How are you alive?”
You yourself had to dry your damp cheeks before you spoke. “That is a quite the long story.” You cleared your throat. “But before that I want to know how are Hakkai and Yuzuha doing?”
“Yuzuha was angry that I didn’t let her participate in a war but she is safe and sound I made sure of it. Hakkai however… that little shit…” He sighed and shut his eyes while massaging his temples.
You eyed Kokonoi from the corner of your eye noticing him still standing frozen in place. He most likely couldn’t move due to shock. You motioned him to come to you and he did, wrapping his shaking arms around your shoulders. You patted him on the back in order to calm down his racing thoughts and shaking body.
“Koko, if you keep your hands on my sister any longer Inui will kill me for cutting them off.” Taiju commented. Good thing he didn’t know about your little make out session with Izana in his tent.
“Shut your mouth.” You giggled at Kokonoi’s bravery to speak like that to a prince, however considering that the very same prince he told to shut up was Taiju Shiba was even more concerning.
Before Taiju had a chance to say something back you raised your hand making him shut his mouth instantly. “You okay big guy?” You patted his back.
“Big guy? I could eat him for breakfast!” Taiju furrowed his eyebrows at you.
You and Koko giggled after your little brother’s statement deciding not to explain your inside joke. When Koko finally removed his hands off you, you turned your attention back to your little brother.
He sighed once again before opening his mouth with a ready explanation. “Hakkai wanted to join the war ever since I announced it. I wanted…” He clenched his jaw. “I wanted to keep both of them safe; away from war, away from bloodshed and away from harm. But no he wanted to join the war so badly we fought about it too many times to count.” He sighed and leaned on the edge of the table while crossing his arms over his chest.
“I ended up telling him that he can’t join my forces because he is not even an adult yet. It worked, he stopped fighting with me about it but when he came of age he said that now I had no excuses to keep him away from the battlefield.”
“Let me guess, you said no again and he joined behind your back?” You question.
“Yes. He was with Shinichiro. I didn’t even know because the bastard didn’t tell me anything. I saw him during our last meeting with all the higher ups. I tried to convince him to come with me but it’s like he saw right through me.”
“You would make him do non-dangerous jobs?” You guessed once again.
“Of course I fucking would. If he gets hurt or even worse dies… I don’t know what I would have done… no man would be left alive.” He furrowed his eyebrows and you saw a vein that usually pops out on his forehead when he is frustrated or angry.
“I have to agree with you.” You sighed. “But no matter what you say I won’t be stepping back from the battle.” You said with determination clear on your face.
“(Y/N)…” Taiju sighed.
“You saw what I can do…” He interrupted you.
“No fucking way am I risking your life! We lost you once not again. Not ever again….” You interrupted him with a loud whistle summoning the nearby snakes who made a protective circle around you glaring at the men in the tent.
“I’m not weak.” You stepped closer to him facing him head on. “Without me you lose an advantage and if you are ready to risk victory you my dear little brother are not ready for the battlefield.”
“I-“ He stayed interrupted by you.
“You heard me.” You grabbed a hold of your two curved bladed pointing one of them at his throat. “I’ll kill all of them; every last one who thought it was smart to think so little of me. And when I’m done with Sem Coração I will kill every single concubine and every single bastard child that son of a bitch created.” You lowered your blade. “They must pay!”
There was fire in your eyes that made Taiju clench his jaw and fists. You were no longer just a wise and respected princess among the young noble ladies. You were no longer the polite and strict big sister he remembered form his childhood. And you were no longer someone who needed to be protected.
Taiju shook his head in frustration. He knew better than to cross you now. “Fine…” He sighed. “But I have conditions.” He added the moment he saw relief on your face. “You get hurt again I’m leaving you in some village where you will wait for the war to be over…” Before you had a chance to complain he pressed his palm over your mouth. “I’m not done yet. Besides it is unsightly for a princess a first princess in fact to behave this way.” He mimicked the tone you used to discipline him.
You rolled your eyes at him before removing his hand. “Don’t give me fucking lectures.” You warned him. “I’m the oldest Shiba not you.”
You could see his face twitch in frustration. “And where were you hiding pretty…?” You question as you notice a familiar purple snake slithering towards you.
You offered her your hand to get herself comfortable on your shoulders and that she did. Zana nuzzled her small head into your cheek. “Where is mama…?” You could hear her low whisper. “Can’t find her…” She whispered again.
You noticed Zana was a bit of a sloth, she didn’t like moving or leaving your side unless she needed to protect you. Rainha even mentioned how her children represent the sins. Something one of the gods among the many that existed considered so outrageous that he had to warn his believers about it. That very same god was behind the form they had now.
You started whistling a specific tune that only Rainha would respond to and soon after you saw a familiar white skinned serpent slithering her way into the tent and up your leg. The two serpents nuzzled against each other on your shoulders.
“So what’s the plan?” You questioned.
Taiju sighed before turning to the make shift desk with almost the same amount of paperwork you used to have as a queen stand in. “Other squads will be coming to our location within a few hours or so. And then we will do what we have been waiting for all this time.” He spoke as he was looking over crumbled pieces of parchment.
“And that is?”
“Killing a peace of shit that killed you.” Izana spoke up.
“And we still don’t know the exact details, what really happened three years ago?” Taiju turned your attention back to you.
You sigh. “I will keep it brief, the late king tried to force himself on me…” You swallowed a lump forming in your throat. “And Zana protected me, together with every single snake that was in the room.” You eyed your purple companion. “Long story short, he was killed and devoured by the snakes and I tried to run away. His first born son chased after me and I escaped into the jungle.”
“Why did he say he killed you then?” Kokonoi questioned.
“I don’t know. I suppose that he didn’t think I would survive the night there.” You sighed. “I probably wouldn’t survive if it weren’t for Senju and Takeomi. Then I became a part of their small village, I connected with Rainha and she trained me and here we are now.”
“When the rest of the squads come here we will discuss the details about the next course of action. Also… if I’m not mistaken you are still hurt and need rest.” Taiju had a strict look in his eye.
“Yes sir.” You said in a mocking tone.
Taiju rolled his eyes as he pulled you into an embrace. He missed you far more than he would like to admit and he hated the idea that you need to be separated from him. But he knew you needed rest and you will not get that if he were to be next to you.
As you turned to leave Izana offered you his hand to use to ease the pressure on your wounds. When the two of you leave Kokonoi turns to Taiju.
“He loves her.”
“What?!” Taiju glared at his advisor.
“Don’t tell me you didn’t see that? The way he looks at her. Even the way she looks at him….” He started to explain but was interrupted by the third prince.
“Don’t talk bullshit. Before she left he knew her for barely few months. And even then they met only at parties, after he left the palace and settled down in the Sano estate. The total time they spent together would be tree full days at most.” Taiju clenched his fist.
“And you don’t listen yet again.” Kokonoi glared back at the man he served. “She saved him, she gave him life, and she is like a god to him. No one is indifferent to their savior. Fuck Inui saved my life so many times and I love him more than anything else...” Taiju interrupted him.
“You grew up together…” Now it was Kokonoi’s turn to interrupt.
“Just listen to me for a minute. She woke up and she came to him first. Even if she didn’t he came to her, because they came to us together. Now use your fucking brain for anything else but battle strategy. He thought his savior died, he thought he couldn’t return the favor even if he didn’t love her. Izana Kurokawa was in debt and he had no chance to repay it directly. Now he realizes she is alive, can you imagine the relief he felt?”
Taiju stayed quiet.
“Listen, your big sister loves all three of you, so much so she only talks about your accomplishments and compliments you so much so most of us were sick of it…” Kokonoi go interrupted once again.
“And you think I will believe that shit?”
“Are you fucking serious? She only talks about you thee every time we have the chance during a party or a gathering. She asks about our health and happenings in our life first and then she praises you until we ask her another question to shut her up. Trust me if anyone is proud of their siblings it would be (Y/N) Shiba.”
Taiju sighed as if he was annoyed by Kokonoi’s words but in truth something swells up in his heart. He felt warm and even happy that you didn’t think of him as a failure even when he didn’t treat any of you the way his siblings were supposed to be treated.
“My point is that she will always love you no matter what and even when she settles down with someone she loves she will still come to you when you need her.” He continued his thought. “And if that man happens to be Izana now he will have a reason not to slaughter us all.” Kokonoi sighed.
“What?”
“If you think about it he has all the means to do it as well as reason. His home was destroyed by our king. He lost everything, for fuck sake he watched his people being slaughtered as he fought for survival in that disgusting arena.”
“He doesn’t seem to be vengeful.” Taiju commented. “I mean he followed every fucking order I gave him, he did everything he had to and more, he serves the army that killed his people. Why would he do that if he wants to slaughter us all?”
“That is a good question, and then I will have to remind you that your sister saved him and he is indebted to her. I suppose he saw serving you as a way to repay that debt. Or he planned keeping you alive because you are her brother. Izana is here because he wanted to avenge his savior, it is a perfect place to build relationships and…” Kokonoi stayed interrupted by Taiju.
“He did have many possibilities. I gave him a squad as small as it is it is something. In the worst case scenario he could convince the people of Sem Coração to join him in his vengeance. Thymos destroyed Vuur and Sem Coração it wouldn’t be strange for them to seek revenge.”
“I see you’re finally using that huge brain of yours.” Kokonoi mocked him.
“I was distracted…”
“Sure you were…” Kokonoi smirked at the tall man whose brow twitched at his mockery.
“I was.” He glared at his advisor. “The bottom line is that I understand what you’re trying to say but I still won’t accept that bullshit talk about them being in love.”
“You might not accept it but I bet they’re fucking right now and there is nothing you can do about it.”
The fury on Taiju’s face was enveloped in fury as the words left Kokonoi’s mouth.
“I will fucking kill you.”
“I would like to see you try. With (Y/N) here I have the freedom to make fun of you.”
“You think she will protect you?” Taiju raised his brow at the dark haired male.
“In a way, she always shuts you down when you talk bullshit or act like an asshole. You have to listen to your big sister don’t you?” Kokonoi’s mockery made Taiju attempt to control his urge to punch him.
“Go check on your boyfriend you fuck.” He nudged Kokonoi towards the exit.
“Yeah, yeah… I will see you shortly.”
The dark haired male left the second oldest Shiba by himself in the tent with his thoughts. Taiju didn’t know why you having a lover bothered him so much. Now that he was looking at the clear picture he had trouble accepting Izana as someone you cared about.
He saw the men you captured and they were beaten and broken beyond repair. Izana Kurokawa was a ruthless man who mostly used all the men following him for his own benefit. It wouldn’t surprise him if in the end Izana chose to slaughter every single person in Thymos.
The third prince understood Izana’s intent and need for revenge. He only hoped that his family that he cared about would be spared.
ah! jojo -did you see/get the chance listen the full tenjiku character songs out on spotify? they are soo amazing + beautiful!! if you did which one happens your favorite?? (if you have one.)
Yeah I actually found them on YouTube! I'll put the links for all of them below. I think my favourite might actually be Kisaki's though, distorted love. I like the vocals and the beat, it keeps getting stuck in my head.
Heeey, can I request fugitive underground boxer! Shuji Hanma as a lover headcanons? Could be angsty due to his circumstances, of course. I'll let you take the creative lead, though! Thanks! 💜
THANKS FOR THE REQUEST; omg hanma may be my absolute FAV character but god its so hard to imagine him being soft, so this is mostly him being a menace. Live laugh love fugitive shuji ?? Im sick so i have sm free time to write lol
FUGITIVE UNDERGROUND BOXER!HANMA AS A 'LOVER' HCS (toxic relationship ahead)
How did you two meet?
The underground fight club smelled of sweat, blood, and cheap liquor, the air thick with the raw energy of men desperate for money, violence, or both. The crowd pressed in close, screaming as a lanky, tattooed bastard with a manic grin dodged a punch with ease, laughing like this was all a game. Hanma Shuji.
You weren’t supposed to be here. But when your friend’s imbecile boyfriend decided to bet money he didn’t have, you got dragged into this mess, standing on the fringes of hell while Hanma played with his prey. You watched as he dodged another punch, then drove his fist into the other fighter’s teeth with a sickening crack. The man collapsed, coughing blood, and the crowd erupted in cheers. Hanma straightened, before his gaze flicked to you.
“Hey,” he drawled, walking straight toward you like he had all the time in the world. “What’s a pretty little thing like you doin’ in a shithole like this?” His grin widened when you didn’t answer, when you just stared, trying to decide if you should run. “Heh. You look real outta place, y’know? Like a lost puppy.”
“Not lost,” you muttered, forcing yourself to hold your ground. He was taller up close, all lean muscle and bad intentions. He smelled like sweat and cigarettes, the coppery tang of blood still clinging to his skin. “Not lost, huh?” He barked– I mean, laughed, a low, amused chuckle that made your stomach twist. “Guess that means you came here to see me, then?” The words were a joke, but the way his purple eyes pinned you in place said he was already making up his mind about you. Whether you liked it or not.
First of all, the relationship will depend on how he sees you:
–You entertain Him => You earn his respect (Like Kisaki) (Ex: You’re sharp, unpredictable, or crazy enough to keep Hanma engaged.)
You’re not someone he can fully own, and that excites him. You push back, make your own moves. That unpredictability is what keeps him hooked.
You don’t flinch when he raises his voice, don’t shy away from his violent nature. That makes him see you as an equal rather than just a plaything.
If you become someone he genuinely respects, he might…feel something close to “love”. He’ll never say it. Never admit it. But you’ll see it in the way he watches your back. Also, I believe he can be a very passionate soul.
–You bore Him, but he keeps you around => Just to brag about having a partner
If he goes off to do something important, he might not even remember to text or call. “Oh, right. You still around?”
Doesn’t cheat, not by respect but thinks one chick is enough.
If you ask for too much attention or act too emotional, he finds it annoying. “Damn, babe. You always this bratty?”
If you ever leave, Hanma won’t chase you. He’ll just find another girl to fill your spot, no hesitation.
GENERAL RELATIONSHIP HCS
He doesn’t do soft. Soft Hanma is a myth at the same table as Santa. Kisses are rough, desperate, like he’s trying to devour you. Fights turn him on more than anything else, and if you patch him up after a match, he’ll make sure to "thank" you properly.
Hanma isn’t completely heartless, he just shows love in fucked-up ways. If someone so much as looks at you wrong, he’ll beat them half to death with a grin. It’s his version of "I care."
He doesn’t hit you. Not directly. But sometimes, when he gets too rough, when he grabs your wrist too hard or leaves finger-shaped bruises on your thighs.
He tastes like nicotine and bad decisions, always pressing a smoke between your lips after a fight, like it’s some kind of ritual. "Relax, babe. You worry too much."
One day, you’ll be forced to cross a line for him. Maybe you’ll have to hide a weapon. Maybe you’ll have to lie to the cops…What a wonderful demise!
Sometimes he can be surprisingly 'genuine', it always caught you off guard
He likes knowing he can get under your skin. He’ll push, prod, and test your limits just to see how much you’ll take before you snap. He finds it hilarious.
Summary: Hanma knows exactly how to push people’s buttons and make them combust, but somehow, your reaction did not produce the same result

Genre: fluff; college! au; barista! Hanma Shuji; enemies to lovers? (to lab partners?); one suggestive joke on Hanma’s part; Hanma being a menace
A/n: dedicated to Tee @shujisbaby ; I hope I did your man justice but low key, I’m kind of in love with writing this version of him.
Hanma’s favorite pastime is being a menace. Call him a little shit, and while most people would be offended, he’d give you a snarky little grin and say, “Thanks ♡.” He likes to push the edge in everything he does. How many times can he show up late to his literature class with a half-empty iced coffee in one hand and a sandwich in the other until his professor explodes? Last lecture, he stuck his tongue out with a sardonic smile as he passed through the door and he swore his teacher turned red.
And when he says everything he does, he truly means everything. How shitty of a barista can he be until he gets fired? How many times can he laugh at a customer’s face and walk away when they tell him he made their drink wrong?
His psychology class tells him it stems from his upbringing and the lack of attention he received as a child. Maybe they’re right since his parents were never home and there’s only so many games he can play until he’s bored, but that’s besides the point.
Because now that Hanma’s older, he knows how to have fun and you, you’re his favorite game to play.
“Hey sweetheart,” Hanma drawls, leaning over the register and smirking when you roll your eyes.
You’re such a perfectionist. He’s watched the way you take notes in chemistry class, with your pens lined up and your hand cramping as you try and write every single word the professor says. You’re always diligently studying and focused solely on academics and Hanma wonders exactly what it’ll take for you to unravel. How far does he have to push for you to lose your composure, to just, break? What a sight that would be, huh? He loves breaking things just for the hell of it, and well, he wants to break you too just for the hell of it.
Psych class also tells him that this is a reflection of himself and how he refuses to be the only broken thing in this world, but fuck that. What if he wants to do things for shits and giggles? There doesn’t have to be an explanation for everything.
“Can I have a caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino?” Amusement is all Hanma feels when you choose to ignore his salutations. Oh no, sweetie. If you want him to stop chasing you, ignoring him is not the way to go. It only forces him to try even harder.
“How about I give you my number instead?”
There’s a twitch in your nose. You must think he’s so annoying and he basks in that glory.
“No.” Is all you say.
“You sure?” He asks, “I can keep you up better than that frappuccino can.”
Before you even get a chance to retort, Hanma’s scolded by his manager and you’re able to get your desired drink on the house after a series of apologies. Hanma’s a menace to society, a combustion reaction ready to set the world ablaze. Logic tells you that getting involved with him will only have you burned, but unfortunately, you lack the same rationality in your heart. Every time time you see his stupid face, your heart flutters like a moth attracted to the flame of his cocky grins.
It’s the reason why, even though you know he’s bad news, you still show up every day at your campus coffee shop to order your frappuccino; but the world knows you’re acting a fool and decides to hand you a lesson when you get paired up with him for a lab report. You stall until the end of lecture but by the time that you turn around and ask to begrudgingly exchange contact numbers, Hanma’s already zipped out the door. At one point he was inescapable, and now it seems that he’s the one avoiding you. You can’t even catch him at work because the moment he sees you walking through the entrance, he’s running off to the back regardless of whatever he’s doing. What makes you even more angry is that you know he’s doing this on purpose.
You could do this assignment on your own, but there’s no way you could keep up with the rest of your school work if you do. You’ve got essays, practicals, exams, and this lab report is at least ten hours of work so as much as you don’t want to work with him, he’s the loose pin to your grenade. If he doesn’t help you out, there’s a guarantee that you will be need to set an alarm for a daily scheduled breakdown in the library from all the stress toppling over.
You’re angry and restless, leg bouncing and pen twirling because you could have never foreseen this. You’re waiting on Hanma to get off his shift and just the thought brings bile to your throat and butterflies in your stomach. He’s so bad for you that you want him just as desperately.
Hanma cannot contain his grin when he spots you at a table near the exit after clocking out.
“Waiting for me, sweetheart?” He saunters over with his long legs with minimal steps before taking a seat opposite of you. “I won’t deny it, but I am quite surprised.”
“I don’t want to play your games,” You get straight to the point. He quirks an interested eyebrow at you - an interested and handsome eyebrow. “Give me your number so we can figure out how to work on this lab report.”
“Oh ho, you already had your chance.” Hanma places an elbow on the table and perches his chin on his palm. He leans forward so he can get a closer look at every twitch and every minute reaction you give, obsessed with it. “My number’s not for sale anymore.”
You glare. He glares back.
“Hanma.”
“That’s my name ♡.”
His cheeks start to hurt at how wide he’s grinning but you look so adorable with your frowny face that you think is intimidating. It’s not but it’s a good effort.
“This is 35% of our grade.” You try and reason with him.
“Do I look like someone who cares about my grades?”
Hanma’s at the edge of his seat. What are you going to do? Are you going to lash out? Kick and scream? He licks his lips in anticipation, but you surprise him once more at the wet sound of your voice.
“Please,” you whisper, eyes trained on the table between the two of you. “I can’t fail this class.”
Hanma feels guilt for the first time in a long time at the sight of you so fragile and small. He feels even worse knowing that he’s the source of your pain. The way that you look like you’re on the verge of tears, fingers wobbling like a newborn deer on ice, he can’t help but concede. He thought he’d get the usual thrill of seeing you break, but only guilt douses him in gasoline and your tears are the matchstick to this blaze. It’s been a long time since he’s felt this way, but Hanma decides he fucking hates it. He’d rather never make you cry ever again if his heart has to tear itself out of his chest.
“Fine,” he says, remorse lacing his breath but incapable of apologizing. He hopes you realize the gravity of that one word, what him relenting actually means. “Let’s work on this report.”
Just like that, you perk up. A sneaky smile on your lips, you wipe the tears that have barely begun to fall and give one quick sniff.
“Great!” You chirp, “We’re going to be doing this my way, by the way. I’m clearly the smarter one here so just do as I say.”
“Were those? Did you?” He’s shocked at the mood swing but all you do is blink those beautiful eyes of yours up at him. Glossy and innocent to the point that it’s malicious, Hanma pieces everything together and he can’t help but flash you a grin. “Oh you’re going to be so hard to handle.” He bares his canines, absolutely excited. “I won’t fall for those crocodile tears again.”
You shrug and match his grin with your own, “We’ll see.”
And you get up without another word, expecting Hanma to follow. Of course he does, because how else will he be entertained?
cw: none, just a bit of soft shuji fluff that i concocted in my head and spit out in a matter of two hours. not proofread to filth as i normally do.

auth note: inspired by the special day today– happy birthday, @virtue-and-beneviolence 😘 xoxo
You heard the signature pattering at your window that wasn’t exactly on a schedule, but it happened often enough around the same time that you could say you half expected it at this point.
You walked over to the window and peered out to see him down below on the street, with his motorcycle parked next to him. He noticeably grinned as you waved down to him, throwing away the remaining pebbles he housed in his hands and shoving them in the pockets of his jacket, typical cigarette hanging from his lips.
You knew what he wanted to ask you, and it was rare of you to deny him. So you walked downstairs, slipping on your heavy boots and throwing on your jacket to meet him outside.
As you approached, Hanma took a long drag of what was left of his cigarette and put it out on the bottom of his shoe. He pocketed the filter, shockingly enough picking up on your constant nagging to not just flick them wherever he happened to be at the time.
“Wanna go for a ride?” Hanma asked.
“You sighed with a small grin, “We both know I wouldn’t be out here for anything else at this hour.”
Hanma gave you a toothy smile and helped you onto his bike. He towered over you as he secured his helmet onto your head, giving the top of it a stiff pat once he was sure it would protect you. He climbed onto the seat in front of you and started up the engine, instinctively wrapping your arms around his thin frame ready to take off into the night.
He always took you to the same place, a nice quiet park not too far from your house. At this hour, the only people outside were you two, apart from the moon and the stars if it wasn’t a cloudy night.
Tonight’s sky happened to be clear, and you were glad for it– you loved looking at the stars and picking out what constellations were visible at whatever time of the year it was. You often gave teasing quizzes to Hanma, half expecting him to remember some of them by now but you were suspicious that he just enjoyed hearing you tell him about them anyway.
These late night trips to the park didn’t seem to have any inherent reason. You and Hanma weren’t even really dating, but he seemed to enjoy spending time with you when he wasn’t busy causing trouble for others, and you weren’t sure if it was appropriate to ask how he felt about you just yet. Despite all that, you couldn’t ignore the thick beats within your chest when you were here with him.
Minutes go by with playful banter on the park bench, revealing facts across any and all topics, or even just each other. Hanma didn’t have much to say about himself, but sometimes you would catch him in a good enough mood that he would go on a cute tangent about a random thing that you would never expect him to have any passion for, like music or art or even cooking. Hanma seemed like the type of person that only thought with his fists, and only sought thrill in harming others. But time and time again, he prove you wrong.
You got to see this other side of him on these nights together, and you couldn’t deny that you were falling for him– despite his hard shell exterior and tough guy attitude. He was more human than meets the eye, but for whatever reason he was shy to show it to other people.
Hanma was looking at his phone more often than he usually did, seemingly pulling it out every five minutes. It was possible he had to be somewhere, or was expecting a message from Kisaki. You tried to tell him he could take you back home if he had some other plans, but he insisted that he had more time. But his furrowed expression each time he checked his phone made you wonder what exactly he was… waiting for?
While you were telling him some random story from your childhood, Hanma checked his phone one last time. His facial expression changed ever so slightly, half in relief and the other in what you would call… nervousness, if that was even possible for this giant fighting machine.
It was then that he reached into his pocket and held something out to you. You stopped mid-sentence to look at the circular object dangling off of his long finger that was pointing at you. Encircling his index finger was the shortest piece bike chain you had ever seen, it couldn’t have been much bigger than the circumference of your wrist.
“What is this?” you half giggled.
Hanma avoided direct eye contact, opting to let his pretty golden irises loom somewhere past your head. “It’s um… a gift.”
You furrowed your brow, not entirely following his explanation.
His eyes met yours very briefly, and then closed with a huffed sigh. “Ya know, for your birthday.”
“What? Hanma, my birthday is tomo–”
He interrupted you by pulling out his phone with his other hand, displaying the time to you. It was two minutes past midnight. It was technically your birthday now.
You took the little chain off of his finger and inspected it with your hands. It was clean, no rust, and it might have even been polished a bit. You also found the added jewelry clasp that held the two ends of the bike chain together. This was a bracelet.
“Did you… make this yourself?” you asked as your eyes sparkled at the realization that there probably weren’t any stores in the city that made a bracelet quite like this.
Hanma placed his arm on the back of the bench and looked at his feet. “Uh, yeah. I borrowed the chain from some kid’s bike.”
“Borrowed? How do you intend to give this section back?” you dangled the chain links back in his face.
His eyes moved to look in your direction, then looked away once again and he smirked. “Yeah, well, I guess I stole that part.”
“Hanma–”
“I just… wanted to be the first person to give you a birthday gift, that’s all.” He rushed the sentence, almost in shame of his own sentimental thoughtfulness. It was uncharacteristic of him to selflessly give his time of day to someone other than himself, so when you thought about how much time it must have taken him to construct this gift for you, it made you smile.
Hanma noticed the stupid smitten look on your face. He couldn’t stop the tips of his ears from turning a blushed shade of pink, which you could see even in the dead of night with only a few street lights nearby to help your eyes.
You undid the clasp and held the bracelet out to him, “Would you… help me put it on?”
Hanma hesitated for a moment, but eventually turned his figure toward you and took each end of the bracelet in his hands. You held out your wrist and watched his long boney fingers wrestle with securing the tiny clasp once again. The contrast in size of his hands to the jewelry was almost comical.
He managed to get the bracelet ends back together, and as he let it fall onto your wrist you could feel how ice cold his fingers were. Must be the nerves, you thought.
Hanma leaned back again and returned his arms to rest against the back of the bench, focusing his gaze to the clear sky, and you swore the gold hues of his eyes were glowing against the light of the waxing gibbous of the moon above you.
You scooched yourself closer to him, and taking the hand that now housed your new biker-chic bracelet, you placed your palm against his far cheek, and rested your lips on the nearer in a short peck.
“Thank you, Shuji,” you uttered.
Hanma seemed to tense at the mention of his first name, never hearing you call him that before. It was then that you felt the ghost of his fingers along your arm from behind you, illusioning an embrace that he might be too damn embarrassed to give you.
With fully blushed cheeks and a goofy smile he couldn’t seem to wipe off his face, he replied–
Hanma struggles with emotions a lot. He can't feel them the way people normally do because for him, everything is numb. Others are able to enjoy life but he never is, because he doesn't even know the meaning of his own life. When he said that his life is boring, he meant that he tried EVERYTHING he could to find joy in living, happiness in being alive, but failed miserably and went down to wrong path, one of violence and fights, thinking it'd make him feel something, make him feel entertained and finally have some joy in life but he was wrong here as well. But then, yes, he found someone who basically gave him a meaning behind his life and coloured his white and black life into many different colours, but unfortunately, that someone was also ripped out of his hands. He's apathetic and lacks the ability to identify emotions.
TW: None, headcanons are based on what I personally think and my own analysis، they aren't necessary right and I don't force them on anyone.
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
Hair + Hanma
He would be the type who walks beside you and pulls your hair hard enough for you to be irritated and laugh at your reaction.
He would take your hair tie and wouldn't give it back until you beg, but even if you did, he might just say "you know what? I will use it. Go find another one". Even if it was pink in color with a cute butterfly or unicorn, no matter how it looks, he would use it on his hair at the same moment and good luck for your short hands to reach his head.
If you decided to style your hair and work hard on it, expect him to mess with it at one point through your day "you look better with messy hair". It is his way of giving compliments and probably he wanted to touch it.
Annoying small things + Hanma
If you wear bras, he would pull the straps because he likes the sound of the 'smack' it makes when it goes back to your body. But Shuji doesn't know how much that hurts sometimes.
You two are drinking (coffee, soda, juice etc) but you need to use the washroom and so you gave him your cup ? Of course your drink mysteriously is half way or almost finished. He even wouldn't know which cup is for who if you bought the same drinks. Don't be angry, it is unintentional. He just doesn't mind really even if you drink his.
Take your eyes off of your plate for a second and some meat is messing. Yes. It is intentional this time and he is as quick as a ninja. Bring it to him and he would shrug it off "seriously? I just saw you eat it and now you accuse me? Lets not start a food war and eat like decent civilians". You would question your memory many times.
He would extend his foot in front of you so you would trip over it and almost kiss the ground and break your teeth, but catches you on time every time, thankfully. He just wants to feel your warmth without asking and causes little harmless heart attacks. He lives on your reactions.
If you have younger siblings I feel like he would have difficult times dealing with them, mostly because they are scared of this giant human, and for him, they aren't fun. You know that mentality that "I'm 16 years old. How do you think I can keep up with children? They are boring" (said your childish boyfriend). but one day your siblings are being brats and annoying more than usual ?? Believe me, Hanma took the lead and this is how they opened up to each other 😂. He would trick them into telling him all your embarrassing stories. Kids don't lie so you can keep denying as much as you want, he won't even listen to you. "Your little sibling told me you make their ears bleed becoz of your terrible singing skills. I wanna a free concert. Do one for me". He will annoy the hell out of you to sing for him but don't give in. If you did, you will be recorded and your amazing performance is gonna be his ringtone 😂.
Cooking + Hanma
Hopefully we are all agree that Hanma can't cook. He lives alone and probably his refrigerator only has water bottles or cheep bears. If you wanna visit, please pass by the grocery store first. He absoulty knows nothing about cooking but that doesn't mean he can't have opinions "I don't think this is how you are supposed to cut carrots, they aren't even in shape, your cooking skills suck as mine" just because one peice of carrot is a little bigger than the others. There is one time when he messed up the spices and your food had a questionable taste, he 100% blamed your skills. But seriously, he eats all things you cook even if you weren't the best at cooking in the first place. I don't see him as a picky eater but he has clear preferences. He would ask to be taught the easist things that can be done because cooking is boring. He isn't gonna waste time on it if he can quickly make something to live on. If you were baking a cake or cupcakes he will annoy you to ice it himself. Drawing skuls, writing HANMA, he will just be creative with his ugly icing but "it doesn't matter how it looks if it tastes delecious, right?" And you can't beat this logic. He would want to cook with you. See, keyword is (with you), which means him doing nothing but annoying you. Its gonna be fun though 😂.
Danger + Hanma
He will persuade you to do things you have never done. "Skip the last class, you are just going home 1 hour earlier, it's not a big deal". Your parents told you must be home by 11 sharp ? He will try to make you go back by 11:30 "C'mon, thirty minutes aren't a big deal. Just tell them you lost track of time"
You would watch him buying beers/alcohol and no one is checking his ID. You can't be almost 2 meters tall and have tattoos if you are just 16, right? It's impossible, right?
He will convince you to try smoking and drinking with him even if you denied him few times. He would bring it up.
Late night drives are about you on the back of his bike and him driving over the speed and skipping the red lights.
There was a time when a police car chased both of you to give you a speeding ticket but they never caught you, thanks to him for being an expert of the small alleys and shortcuts.
It was worth the thrill, the nice warm air and the bond that is getting stronger between you and him. Nights and days like these are many when he can't find any interesting fights.
Animals + Hanma
I mentioned that on my fiction but 10000% will hand you a small frog 🐸 because you just look similar to this creature. Not that you are disgusting don't get him wrong but you are just as tiny 🥺 "see, they look like you. Cute little thing" that's what he says but the truth is for teasing purposes. If you don't like frogs and started to run away, be sure he is running after you with the devil in his hands.
I personally believe he prefers bigger dogs rather than smaller ones but surprisingly he has a good relationship with animals. I just don't see him having pets because 1: he can't afford the money and time for them 2: he is irresponsible and he is aware of that.
But say you have your own pet, he would play with them and they would like him. He would ask you about their care routine and show interests but that's it. He will go with you if its time to walk your dog for example, and he might do it himself. He is generally nice to animals in comparison to humans.
This is why he gives me the vibes that he would catch small frogs after the rain, talk to them sometimes, tell them all his thoughts and secrets until they jump from his hand, they can live on their own and they don't get attached to humans.
But he would dislike spiders and insects.
Pictures + Hanma
He would take pictures of you when you aren't paying attention. He will capture almost all of your facial expressions. But he will only show you (or blackmail you) the most embarrassing pictures of you. Picture of you drooling, having some food between your teeth, spacing out with your mouth open, there are many. You won't know about the nice pictures of you at all, that would just expose how soft he can be and soft Hanma is hidden most of the time.
Hanma is 192 cm tall. So taking selfies with him depends on you. If you are 170+ cm you are just .. as tall (😂 said the 157 tall writer) so taking selfies isn't a problem but if you are shorter then we have different stories.
You need to ask him if you want to take selfies because with your short hands he won't be on the camera range, so he has to either take them by himself or he bends a little bit down to reach your height and be on the camera (he always tell you that he is gonna break his back because of you being VERY short 😂). Or you have to stand on a chair or a box.
Period/catching cold or illnes + Hanma
He would be quiet around you when you are sick and catch cold, "its no fun when you are sick, get well" his teasing levels will go from 100 to 85 for you just this time 😂. See how special you are? You should be thankful he isn't annoying you and hiding the tissue box somewhere in the room.
but always mixes your cold medication with your yummy soup and ruin its taste. His intention is under question. To tease you or he really wants you to get well ? You never know.
The teasing level will go lower than that depending on the severity of your illness. If it's more than cold, he would visit you more if it's something serious.
If you were to be hospitalized, he would come every other day and will always tell you stories about what he does "and in the end, you better get well soon to rule the world with me".
If you are on your period he will be gentle (according to the gentle definition in Hanma's dictionary)
He is a giant human heater by default so heating pads are unnecessary when his hands are on top of your lower stomach.
You aren't in the mood to talk? You wanna silence ? You have it. 30 minutes maximum before he breaks it with a silly joke. As expected from Hanma.
If your emotions are all over the place in these days, he will try his best to tone down his annoying jokes and behaviors. keyword again: tries.
Study/school + Hanma
Boy has dropped school, so if you are peacefully studying at home he will visit "Two brains preparing for a test is better than one right?" That's what he said but he just sits beside you and colors the black and white pictures in your textbook, draws random stuff, writes his initials and "I ♡ H" or " I LOVE SHUJI" on every page of your books/notebooks. You know how in kindergarten parents write their phone numbers in the first page of notebooks under their kids full name and class number? Shuju will write his number under your name as if you were a kindergarten kid. Oh? you are a high school student and you don't write your name anymore? Don't worry he will write your name for you and his phone number, just in case you got lost you know.
He would distract you with silly stories, videos, memes, you name it. And will ask you to take a snake break every 10 minutes. Probably he came to your home to eat food ? Probably.
He would take your pens away. If you are allowed to use a calculator in your school, he might play with it until he change its settings and you have no idea how to set it back.
"lemme see what the hell you are studying. if X+10 =10 then find the value of X. Can we change X to H ? If Hanma fought 10 guys we will have 10 dead bodies. So the value H is so strong"
If you study something that requires a lot of your memory space like History or Literature, for example, you need to study about how kingdom X was destroyed by a Kingdom Y, he will create his own version of that history and that's what you will remember, Hanma's version. Good luck in the test. The teacher might praise your creativity for creating a new the history of these kingdoms.
You both would laugh at his lame jokes and suddenly the moon is in the sky and you studied nothing. Of course it is not his fault at all. He was just helping you, to make sure you aren't so stressed and relaxing.
If you scored bad on a test "you know you can always set the school on fire, I will help you" he is trying to make you laugh + comfort you at the same time. Clever Hanma.
Say you have a bad relationship with a teacher, they are being mean to you, Hanma would walk you to school just to see that teacher, and he will find ways to prank them. He will find their car/bicycle and break their tires, or attach a fake parking ticket, he will show his graffiti talent on their cars. He will write SHINIGAMI with red spray and the whole school will think the teacher has been cursed. Hanma is smart enough to not be caught on the car camera tho, so the SHINIGAMI remains a mystery.
Emotions + Hanma
You would have your moment of silence amd they are comfortable.
He wouldn't mind having quiet times. He appreciates silence and would be a great listener if you needed to talk.
If things were serious, he would listen and catch between the lines sometimes.
He would have days when he is being very quiet. Very very quiet. 100% unlike his usual self. Days when his brain is full of thoughts and he is having a time with himself to think.
And when he has these days, he will kind of isolate himself from everyone and be somehow distant from you.
He doesn't really know how to approach his own emotions so he might struggle with yours too. But the more you are together, the more he learns about you and himself.
He would joke around his pain and laugh at himself sometimes just to not show you how hurt he is. You have to read between the lines to know what's hidden behind these jokes.
But he can snap and everything will overflow.
You already know how Happy-Hanma looks like and how Angry-Hanma looks like. He wouldn't try to hide his anger. His presence would feel different anyway, the atmosphere around him or his aura would feel different too. You will know and he will make it clear that he is angry without saying a word.
It depends on the reasons and the causes but I don't think Hanma would be violent towards you as the first thing to do if he is angry.
He might get calm if you insert some logic into his mind but as I said he can snap and be violent.
He can break things, but that doesn't happen a lot. He would prefer to get himself into more violent or bloody fights until he calms down.
Or at least until his physical pain from fights is stronger than all the emotions he has at these moments.
I don't see him as the type to apologize, at least not by words. Actions speak louder for him. He would do the little things you like, his first attempt is to tell some jokes which would fail of course. But give him the chance to try, he knows when he has messed up and he will try in his own ways to make it up for you.
I don't see him to be the type who would be quick to get attached to people for sure, but he would have difficult times dealing with any breakups or death of those who he considers close (did you see how he reacted to what happened to Kisaki? I won't say they have a nice friendship but hey he won't react like that if Kisaki wasn't close to that extent for him). Things would be more difficult once he realizes how empty his life is, and how your presence can fill it. But it is also when he realizes that how shitty he is as a person and that deep down he is not the best. Far away from it. There would be the conflicts inside of him no matter how much you assure him.
But as he gets older, he would stop doing most of the above. He used to joke about himself and laugh at his own pain? He would stop at one point. Not because he doesn't want to, or because he became mature and learned to handle his hurt self better, but because he couldn't, anymore. (Present age Hanma in all timelines).
As he gets older, he wouldn't talk much about himself as he used to. Not about him keeping secrets (which he does anyway) but he changes the directions of the conversations to be more about you and less about him. More about your days and work and less about his. He does it a lot without you realizing that. And really if you have a long time relationship with him, at one point you would realize that you don't know him well or at all, and all the things you have known are just from his past self that doesn't exist anymore and the unresolved inner conflicts from his younger self would evovle into something more miserable, and this is a red flag because that where his manuplsntion tactics are coming from.
As he gets older, he would be more quiet. I think this is true seeing how he acts in all the timeskips but that comes with the things that used to cause adrenaline rush into him.
The things that used to be fun aren't fun anymore, which means he seeks his adrenaline from something else, more dangerous and crazier things that are harmful for himself and everyone around too.
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
I think General adult Hanma headcanons deserve its own post. I'm thinking to write that but tell me if you are interested.
“Would you dance with me, Siggy?” Nikolai had said, holding out a hand for them to take; a hand which was accepted rather quickly despite not quite knowing what was in store right after. After all, if there was something his now dance partner was, that was unpredictable. Sigma, though, had not that long ago figured out how they could get used to that-- funny, because how did one learn to go along with the unexpected?
It was, perhaps, a mix between his own seeking every experience they had yet to taste but wanted to with how there was something alluring in letting himself be taken along for the ride when the stakes were simple.
“Glad--” The ‘-ly’ ended up missing, hanging around in the air, when Nikolai spun them both around to reach the dance floor in that swirling motion.
The song currently playing was slower than their pace in joining, but not exactly slow either; telling a tale about a lot of things including giving in to temptation-- which was sort of fitting, actually, even if Sigma was positive they wouldn’t be meeting any kind of demise. That had been avoided time ago and far away at a certain French prison, after all.
Thus, there were no bigger fears or worries then and there than keeping up with the music’s rhythm and Nikolai as a companion… something rather easy to do since all he had to do was following his lead.
That, and minding their own balance when a specially tricky combo of spinning and portal use was used.
Nikolai gogol is the kind of man to never confess, but expects you to know you two are exclusive.
Of course not, he won't tell you he loves you, and does he even ? It's not about feelings, it's about him wanting you to be in his life one more day, everyday. He won't say that he'd murder anyone you ask him to. However, he will come to your place with a flower bouquet.
"Why wouldn't I offer you flowers ? That is what I have to do !"
And he spends nights on your couch, watching whatever dumb movie he can find on your tv, laughing way too loud at very bad jokes. He will ask who you're talking to whenever you're on the phone, wearing an innocent yet nosy smile.
He will ask what you think of his clothing, expecting you to praise him to no end and not letting go until you have complimented him enough. He won't tell you what he does of his days, but says mysterious things instead.
"Ah, making the world more comfortable for you !"
And the day you tell him about another man, he would tilt his head calmly. This was the weirdest. He wouldn't get angry at anyone, no tantrum, just... Looks at you unexcited, so different from his usual self. Unthreatening, but somehow worrying.
"But aren't you taken ?"
And all this time, you were thinking he was leading you on. He laughed brightly when you seemed completely puzzled, grabbed your hands in his, shaking you left and right.
"You're very much taken ! In fact, maybe we should get matching rings ! Ah, is that too much ? I can settle for necklaces ! Pajamas, maybe ?"
'Taken', a word he hates, but if you're willing to offer yourself, he should be the one to have you.
Hello!I've seen that your requests are open ✨ Could I please request BSD boys reacting to a reader who can shift between realties? Characters: Dazai Osamu, Chuuya Nakahara, Nikolai Gogol. I think that Nikolai would be especially interested in shifting, since it can be so freeing to escape the current reality into a desired one. Thank you!
