She always has two knives with her, one that she keeps hidden that was gifted by Edan, and one that she almost always has out that was gifted by Maple.

Open Starter: the blood on her hands

(Tw/cw, hallucination, blood, mentions of violence. Basically, the usual stuff for this blog)

Why did her brain seem so fascinated with blood? Why did so many of her hallucinations have to do with blood? Depending on how severe, sometimes she could smell it and feel it. Sometimes, all she could do was see it. It was worse than the feeling of invisible bugs all over her skin. Or even the voices that berated her and told her all of this was her fault. They weren't wrong. There were a thousand things she could have done differently. She made so many mistakes in her life, and none of them only hurt her. She could live with that if that was the case. But so many people she loved had gotten hurt because of her.

She didn't know when the blood appeared on her hands today. She thought she remembered staring off into space as she contemplated how she would carve whatever she was doing before her eyes went back into focus, and there was that deep crimson color all over her wood. Her hands were drenched with it, and parts of the front of her jacket were, too. The cube in her bag beeped incessantly, and she took it with her to the kitchen where she could scrub her hands clean. The smell flooded her nostrils, reminding her of several unpleasant memories. Even breathing through her mouth didn't stop the smell.

She knew it wasn't real. The cube kept on beeping at her, so it had to be so. The annoying beeps in the background didn't help to make it any less vivid, however. She turned the water on hot until it was steaming, and her hands felt like they would burn, scrubbing them raw with the dish soap. All those people. That poor boy with his leg torn off. Edan, when she'd hurt him in the middle of another one of those episodes. Every time she'd been shot or stabbed or anything else. None of it would leave her mind.

"Come on, please! Please, just go away! Leave me alone!" she choked out.

She flinched at the touch, her muscles tensing. Her cube beeped again, and she wasn't sure if it was reminding her the blood was fake or telling her Maple wasn't there. All she knew was that he was a murderer. She guessed violence ran in the family. "Get away from me! I— I know what you did!"

*Maple smirked, a devilish little thing, at the reminder, and leaned in closer to her face.* And what would that be? She gasped and shoved what she thought was Maple away from her. The continuous beeping of the little cube was beginning to get on her nerves. "You murdered all those people! You psycho! What do you want with me, huh? Am I next?"

She looked down at her bag on the floor. The beeping from the cube felt like it was making fun of her. Taunting her. "Just shut up already!" she shouted at it. "I know the blood isn't real! You don't need to keep reminding me!" She turned to Maple. "So you're just like those anons. What have I ever done to you? I've always tried to be kind! I've always apologized for my mistakes! Don't you know I'm already miserable?"

She jumped at the sound of Stabby's voice, half-convinced she was gonna be stabbed again. Maple's response was enough to convince her that this wasn't the real one. That, and how Stabby didn't seem to see him. What was she supposed to say? That she was hallucinating Stabby's brother? That her hands were soaked in blood that wasn't truly there? She just wanted it to go away. There must have been something she could have tried to ground herself, but she couldn't for the life of her remember. "I'm sorry," was all she could muster with her shaking voice.

*Stabby has started collecting ingredients, moving around the kitchen with a purpose. A sleepy and hungry purpose, but still. Hallucination Maple hops up onto a counter to stay out of the way*

She made up her mind, grabbed her bag, and ran to the stairs so she could hide away in her room.

After carving and carving and carving until her hands were too cramped to do more and had too many cuts, she finally set aside the little box next to her. Most of the shavings landed onto a long piece of fabric she rested over her lap, but the few that fell elsewhere she figured she would vacuum as soon as she was done. She hummed some arabic song to herself until she heard small footsteps approaching her. She ceased her humming and looked up to see who might be coming around. She thought she felt their pressence, too.

Sophia! There she was! It was always good to talk to her! She was such a sweet kid. She wished more kids were kind and smart like her, though she could definitely use some more confidence. The poor girl was constantly selling herself short.

"What'cha making?" Sophia tilted her head and gestured at the vaguely heart shaped box.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a little something for the holidays. I could always buy stuff, but that doesn't feel quite right."

She continued to talk to Sophia, or at least she thought she did, until you walked up to her. To anyone else, it didn't look like there was anyone around for Natalie to talk to, and yet she was having a full conversation, responding like someone had just spoken to her.

*Stabby knocks on the doorframe, peaking inside but not going in yet. She thought that Natalie was on a call or something since it sounded like she was having a conversation, but with no evidence of such, she tilts her head in confusion. She's wearing a loose black shirt and a greyish red zip up hoodie rather than what she usually wears*

Who ya talking to? And whatcha doing?

She tensed when she felt Stabby's bioelectricity and turned around. "I'm talking to Sophia," she explained simply. "And I was carving, but my hands hurt." She frowned. Such a shame. If she never got tired and her hands never ached, she wasn't sure if she would ever stop carving.

She sighed and pointed in front of her where she saw Sophia standing. That version of Sophia gave Stabby a confused look.

"She's right here! I'm just making a little something for the holidays. You know, passing the time and such. She wanted to see it, too." It wasn't a complete lie about why she was making it, but she didn't wanna say more. It would feel silly. She didn't even know if she would commit to giving it to him.

*she walks over to where Natalie was pointing, waving her arms to see if she would make contact with a Sophia that she somehow couldn't see*

"I'm pretty sure she is. See, she's even telling you!"

"I don't have nearly as much wood as I would like."

After carving and carving and carving until her hands were too cramped to do more and had too many cuts, she finally set aside the little box next to her. Most of the shavings landed onto a long piece of fabric she rested over her lap, but the few that fell elsewhere she figured she would vacuum as soon as she was done. She hummed some arabic song to herself until she heard small footsteps approaching her. She ceased her humming and looked up to see who might be coming around. She thought she felt their pressence, too.

Sophia! There she was! It was always good to talk to her! She was such a sweet kid. She wished more kids were kind and smart like her, though she could definitely use some more confidence. The poor girl was constantly selling herself short.

"What'cha making?" Sophia tilted her head and gestured at the vaguely heart shaped box.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a little something for the holidays. I could always buy stuff, but that doesn't feel quite right."

She continued to talk to Sophia, or at least she thought she did, until you walked up to her. To anyone else, it didn't look like there was anyone around for Natalie to talk to, and yet she was having a full conversation, responding like someone had just spoken to her.

She didn't want to find out. But she really wants to see Margulis... She has for weeks... So she starts looking for Margulis, searching for her rather than trying to avoid her*

Margulis was installing some weird devices all around the house, when suddenly she spotted Stabby, without delay she slings towards her and takes her into a hug

Stabby! Dear! Ohmygods are you okay? Do you want something to eat? I was so worried about you!

*Stabby makes a quiet, squeak like sound. She wasn't expecting that reaction. She expected some kind of anger or to at least be kicked out for leaving twice without any notice. She would've deserved it, but that's not what happened. She doesn't know how to respond, so she just... Doesn't. She returns the hug without saying anything*

Margulis just stays like this for a bit before finally pulling away and looking over Stabby, trying to discern if she's been injured in any major way

*a few new scars on her arms and her hands looking like they've been scrubbed raw are the only forms of visible injury on her. She does look like she hasn't eaten in weeks and like she is on death's door though*

Margulis just looked at her concerned about her state but happy she's back, it's obvious that she missed Stabby, her daughter

Margulis chuckled a bit when she notices that Stabby perked up at that, still her daughter after all, so she began walking to the kitchen, making sure Stabby follows her

And once in the kitchen she began to take out all the ingredients and - uh... I forgot the word... Sure! Kitchen Tools works! - kitchen tools

*she just slowly nods as a wave of nausea hits her at the thought of actually eating, the thought of having to go through the process of eating something. Yes, the promise of food is nice, but it's different when she'll actually have to eat. She tries to calm down with deep breaths and the reminder that it's chicken fried steak! A comfort meal! But it doesn't help very much, if anything it just makes the nausea worse. So she tries to remind herself that she needs to eat, that Margulis would be sad if she doesn't eat, that doesn't help either... She decides to not say anything and to just sit down and watch*

As Margulis begins working on the food she occasionally looks over to Stabby and it was quite obvious that she’s nauseas, so Margulis went over to her and gave her a simple boop on the nose

Are you feeling unwell dear? Need something to help?

*words get caught in her throat with the feeling of vomit coming up with them, so she just nods rather than attempt to speak and make it worse. She rests her head on her knees and clutches a hand to her stomach. She closes her eyes and tries to focus on simply breathing steadily. In through her nose, hold for a few seconds, out through her mouth, hold for a few seconds, repeat. She just tries to focus on that*

Margulis of course quickly gets a bucket, some medicine for against the nausea and some simple crackers, those you usually get when feeling nauseous, she places the bucket down in front of Stabby and the crackers on the table and she just gently guides her head closer to the bucket

If speaking is too much, simply nod or shake your head or make a sound for yes or no, is it okay if we communicate telepathically for a bit?

*she makes a soft sound in place of an answer. She feels lightheaded. There's a slight headache behind her eyes. She feels like she's simultaneously overheating and being frozen alive. She can taste the puke at the back of her throat. It makes her feel disgusting. She hates this feeling. She hates how common it is. And she hates that, even though it feels so terrible, she knows she won't throw up. She's not currently gagging or having adrenaline rushing through her system. Her mind isn't screaming at her to lean over the bucket and wait for it to happen. She won't throw up. There aren't the right signs. She hates that she knows the signs so well. She hates that she just has to wait for this to pass. However long that takes.*

She echoes in her mind

*her mind is loud, filled with voices that aren't entirely Stabby's own. Overlapping whispers for blood and death along with permanent static filling what should be quiet. A soft voice reaches through the noise towards Margulis, a simple "I don't know" to answer the question*

Once that voice reaches through Margulis isolates it, to talk with her properly, cutting out all the other noise

*Stabby's voice is quiet for a bit. Soon, she answers with an unsure "I guess..." She feels guilty for avoiding Margulis for so long, she feels like it'd be rude to say no...*

Margulis of course quickly gets a bucket, some medicine for against the nausea and some simple crackers, those you usually get when feeling nauseous, she places the bucket down in front of Stabby and the crackers on the table and she just gently guides her head closer to the bucket

If speaking is too much, simply nod or shake your head or make a sound for yes or no, is it okay if we communicate telepathically for a bit?

*she makes a soft sound in place of an answer. She feels lightheaded. There's a slight headache behind her eyes. She feels like she's simultaneously overheating and being frozen alive. She can taste the puke at the back of her throat. It makes her feel disgusting. She hates this feeling. She hates how common it is. And she hates that, even though it feels so terrible, she knows she won't throw up. She's not currently gagging or having adrenaline rushing through her system. Her mind isn't screaming at her to lean over the bucket and wait for it to happen. She won't throw up. There aren't the right signs. She hates that she knows the signs so well. She hates that she just has to wait for this to pass. However long that takes.*
