chronic fatigue is crazy cuz what do you mean i barely draw anymore. what do you mean i barely write anymore. what do you mean i barely read anymore. what do you mean im too tired and have no motivation to do the things i used to love. things i still love. what do you mean all i want to do is just sleep. what do you mean i barely go outside unless its for school. what do you mean i’ve become a shell of who i used to be. what do you mean
Trying to inflict psychic damage to a tumblr user is like trying to irradiate a cockroach, like it can be done, but the lethal dose is not safe for humans either
Besides the point, but you could always try physical damage?
You’re right Gomez, bring me the flail
“i also choose this guy’s dead wife” was easily the #1 funniest thing to ever be written on the internet.
you can know the punchline but you can’t stop it from punching you.
i do also feel the need to add that phil8248 really liked the joke. he said his wife had always had a dark sense of humour, even about her illness and death, and seeing the joke made him feel like he was laughing with her one last time.
You are 60% water and every lake, river, pond, swamp, creek, and ocean you encounter wants to reclaim it desperately. Be careful out there.
Good, I hope it haunts everyone about to enter a body of water so bad that they wear a life jacket. 🙌
Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.
I mean this with all due respect:
You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.
Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.
Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.
If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.
You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.
another little thing on Lecter and his accountability
One of the things I really enjoy about canon Hannibal is that he completely acknowledges that what he does is wrong. He doesn’t act like he’s a victim. He doesn’t blame life for dealing him a bad hand. He had a horrible childhood and had horrible things happen to him. He could easily blame everything he does on this trauma.
But he doesn’t.
Nothing made him happen, he happened. He knows that he is out there killing people and it is he and he alone that allowed it to happen.
His childhood is important, but not in the way some people might think.
Hannibal always had the capacity to do what he does deep inside. He was incredibly young when his family was killed. It was in losing Mischa that he lost his faith in any sense of higher power. In losing that faith, he became his own god. He had himself to rely on and himself to care for and nothing more.
The strength of his self-preservation is unmatched. He will do whatever it takes to protect himself. Whatever it takes to please himself. Because this is all he has. He has no delusions of an afterlife and no delusions of a day of judgement. You can’t torture him, you can’t hurt him, you can’t guilt him. He is a complete enigma to others. The only things you can count on are his ability to survive and his undying curiosity.
all movies are for children because the moving image is inherently juvenile. to be entertained by it even moreso
Random tumblr blog roleplays as a philosopher. Shocks the masses by using big words just to say they think theyre better than you because you watch movies. WHHAAAAT?
thats right
the biggest word in this post is “entertained”
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
#'this is present in the text' is often a good first step #but those second and third ones (naming it; describing its function) are vital (via @elucubrare)

Still thinking about this mobile game ad I got. You will f**k increasingly large creatures.
I bring a real 'actually people who are pregnant do deserve some special consideration because they are effectively at least temporarily disabled if not permanently after some complications' vibe to the party that a lot of people don't seem to like
Thank you for posting your tweets, I do not enjoy going there.
It’s really not a good or productive website to use at all but it’s my biggest foothold into relevancy because I know sometimes JD Vance sees my tweets telling him that his mom traded him for some pocket lint and a perc 20
Nobody is having fun on that website. One of the nazis who posted my address had a group of even more insane nazis post his birth certificate a couple of days later. It’s like the Abyss Watchers on there, just stupid chuds executing each other over and over out of some ritualized algorithm-induced compulsion. But for some reason the Vice President gets mad and starts twitter arguments with people in his replies. And one time the Iranians shot a ballistic missile at a target in Israel because a guy with an anime profile picture told them to. A japanese guy used the auto translate to call me names for calling the new japanese PM “female hitler” and the japanese government made me take my post down because I just responded with an image of the thing they used to kill Shinzo Abe. Cyberstalking and harassment is openly encouraged by the moderators. It’s the world’s public forum in the most despicable and honest sense of the term.
This is what I’m talking about man why is Hunter Biden name searching on twitter and replying to “Pissvortex”
i have zero empathy for little boys being misogynists. i was a kid too, but my focus was towards drawing and reading, not hating on minorities.
“they’re children!” so are the girls they terrorise
I have started calling it "monkey see monkey do misogyny" not because these little shits aren't a danger to other children but because I'm so sick of people reacting like "he's too young to truly MEAN it" and I don't care because I'm not worried about his immortal soul or whatever. I care about the girls who have to hear the exact same words in the exact same order as a grown man who hates them, in class. And then be expected to concentrate on long division.
"As my mother once said: The boys throw stones at the frogs in jest.
But the frogs die in earnest."
