I always see a bunch of Audhd, Adhd, Autistic, neurodivergent Grace, however I hardly see it for Simon when Mark himself is open about his Adhd. It shows a ton in his characters and I think it should be talked about more! He actually stims and shows those emotional/mental struggles in the movie if you look more in-depth.

As much as I understand that of course Simon grew up in world where he is unmedicated or undiagnosed because of scare resources since we’re in the end of the world. It would definitely help him be able explain or understand himself if he was healing with Grace!

I'm still thinking of how damn funny it would be if you make a bloodymary au where Simon is just, occasionally in the background of all of Grace's logs that he sent back to Earth.

The teams are watching these, and at first they don't think much about another human and assume it's one of the other two. Except Simon talks in one and that definitely isn't either person that got sent up. In fact, Grace definitely sent back that the other two passed on the voyage, so who the hell is that?

Cue chaos as Earth tries to figure out where a whole new human turned up from. Rocky is comparatively normal; that's obviously an alien. Why the hell was there a human out in Tau Ceti? Why didn't Grace send anything back about this?

Rewatching iron lung again (shock horror) and I’m thinking about if there was a Bloodymary AU where Grace is a scientist for the COI, he would 100% try and help Simon and talk to him through the speaker.

Can you imagine? Simon yelling at him out of anger and then apologising and Grace saying “it’s ok, I once told a man he was a staggering waste of carbon once.” And that’s what makes Simon laugh because Simon has caught a glimpse of Grace before he was put in the sub and he can’t imagine the man who he saw spinning in his chair to say that. That’s what makes it so funny to him.

“Yes- I can’t imagine you saying that to anyone.”

“Well I did so it seems we both have egg on our face.”

im writing a bloodymary fic where grace teaches simon about earth history to help me study for my history exam tomorrow, heres how its going

Grace dancing around the kitchen or the lab to Sabrina Carpenter and the Beetles and Simon just.. watching.

Simon fighting tooth and nail to learn to play the guitar with one hand (it’s possible). Grace cries when Simon plays a full song for him.

Simon is very slow to pick up on Eridian language, but Ryland is a very patient teacher.

Erid’s ammonia atmosphere isn’t the best for stargazing, but the skies are no worse than Earth’s with their light pollution problem. Grace once turned off the biodome’s sky projector to let Simon stargaze, and it’s become a nightly ritual

Grace will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night without Simon and find him outside, staring at the Eridian skyline, reminding himself it’s real.

Rocky is very excited upon Simon’s arrival because Grace will have someone to watch him sleep when Rocky is with Adrian

I think a lot of people missed the fact there were PLANTS on the Hail Mary. Imagine Simon and Grace planting those in the biodome together.

Speaking of PLANTS, imagine Simon caring for a garden. He’s read every book in the Hail Mary about the topic. He spends at least two hours tending to the garden every day. Ryland finds himself giving up his fog often so that the plants can have proper sunlight. The fresh veggies are totally worth it.

One day Grace gets a call from Earth about a strange occurrence there. It’s Eva and Ava. Simon walks in casually while brushing his teeth and just.. freezes.

Ava’s first words to Simon are “did you get the box”

I vote for doing Grace a little bit more weird. In most of the things I have see of Bloodymary Simon is the weird one, which fair because a cult and surviving your canonic event would make you weird, but I think that Grace should be also pretty weird by this point.

He only interacts with an alien species that consist of what for the human eye looks like rocks that sing likes whales, that should be quite the first impression.

He commits cannibalism daily.

He hasn't interact with humans in at least (at least) like nine years, that has to make him very bad at interacting with people, and he was already kinda bad at it to start with (if you weren't one of his students of course).

He pass most of his time with kids, meaning that he should sound kinda childish from time to time without even meaning it.

He best friend is Rocky, who I love, but I sure is also weird by eridians parameters.

Like I just saying that awkward interactions, specially first meetings, should be also started by Grace who hasn't had to interact with humans in a while.

P.S: Simon can be weird too, of course, but for what I understand he grew up in a cult with people, weird people, but people in the end of the day. Grace had been living with eridians, and even when he is still painfully human, he had to be a little out of tone with how human interactions go.

Extra:

I would also love Grace asking for Rocky advice to be better at socializing and Rocky been like "I got you" when in reality he spend 46 years by his own in a spaceship meant for 23. I want this two to give advice to each other without realizing that maybe they should seek someone with a more stable point of view, like Adrian, who may also be mess up for been a widow for 46 years, but is better at covering it.
