in my tiny slivers of free time over the past few weeks, i've been working on a NETWORK for TOUCHSTARVED FANFIC!! i first had the idea last year and it would not leave my mind... so i caved and made @wetwicknet.

it's still under construction (i need javascript permissions please tumblr staff) but i'm opening it up anyway bc yay. learn more belowww

WETWICKNET is an open, 18+ network for touchstarved fanfic here on tumblr tracking the #wetwicknet tag.

if you have no idea what any of that means:

what is a network

it's a hub where content is conglomerated. some networks are very niche, like for individual celebrities or tv shows, and some focus on gifs and edits, while others are meant for fanfiction!! that's what wetwicknet is for, touchstarved fanfic!

but why

networks allow creators a wider audience. it's for exposure to your work. the whole purpose is to support creators! reblogging on tumblr is what fuels the ecosystem; it's what gets a piece of art or writing in front of another user. it's become very obvious in recent years that reblogging is dying in favor of likes (as a gifmaker, trust me i know it sucks to see something you spent so much time on get 2 reblogs and 100 likes. that's only barely an exaggeration). there's an audience for touchstarved fanfic, the tags are messy, and i love uplifting this community <3

why's it "open" what even is that

some networks are closed or exclusive, meaning you have to apply to be a member and only members' creations are reblogged onto the network. wetwicknet is open, so membership is not required!!!! the entire goal is to archive & catalog touchstarved fanfic in one place on tumblr, since the main tags can be crowded or confusing (like #touchstarved fic is not exclusively for the game we know & love!), all while supporting the touchstarved fandom here on tumblr.

how can i get my fic on there

i've already created a backlog of fics from the main touchstarved tags (if you want to opt out, please just let me know & i can remove your fic!), but if you want to be certain your fic ends up reblogged there, you can use the tag #wetwicknet! using the tag is how i know you want to be reblogged there!!! after my backlog queue runs out, i'm not going to be reblogging any more new tsfics from the main tags. i will assume you don't want to be a part of it, and i will respect that. * note that tagging #wetwicknet is not the same as @wetwicknet !

are there rules to this whole thing

yeah, there are guidelines. MAIN ONES: you have to be 18+ and ai is prohbited.

members would get priority in the queue, be listed on the network (mobile navi + desktop page once i have javascript permissions), and have the ability to put @wetwicknet anywhere on their blog (e.g. "member of @wetwicknet!" or wtv you want). more opportunities may arise in the future but that's what membership means right now. HOWEVERRR, membership applications are not open yet. idk if there's a demand, so i'm holding off on that whole part. if #wetwicknet actually gets used enough, then i'll open her up to members <3

It's come to my attention that some people have been reading a certain scene in Heavenly Tyrant in a way I did not intend, and it's causing me so much distress that I am formally issuing a correction to the book in the form of a set of clarifying lines.

If you own a printed copy of Heavenly Tyrant right now, please take a pen and add the following lines to the top of page 434: [We can sculpt anything out of spirit metal. I could even FEEL through it. We can make this work.]

If you haven't read to that point yet, you can cover the text with a piece of paper to avoid spoilers while flipping through the book. The page is on the lefthand side.

Hopefully this scene will now read without ambiguity. I am campaigning to get the lines added in the ebook and future physical printings, including the translated editions. I've already confirmed that the Italian version (which has incredible translation work by Paolo Maria Bonora, btw) will have them in.
