I see often this ridiculous take about how, because Humans are oh-so-awful and live oh-so-unsustainably; that we all thus deserve a Nuclear armageddon or something of the like. This view is... well... fascist. Billions of inocent people *deserve* a Nuclear holocaust? Why? Because one dislikes their chosen paths? Because our long history of inequalitable social systems force people to live a certain way? It's a profoundly cruel opinion.

None of that, or anything really, would justify a bloody nuclear holocaust. It does not justify burning a billion people in atomic fire on drop day and condemning the rest to radiation sickness, nuclear winter, and gods know what else.

The planet is a 4.5 billion year old rock that can not and would not even notice us. Long after we've gone extinct or pissed off somewhere else, far enough in the future, any visitors would be hard pressed to know we were ever here.

It is a profoundly cruel, short sighted, pseudo-intellectual argument. To the hells with any such sentiment. I think one should regard with utmost suspicion any opinion that amounts to "killing billions of people would be fine, actually."
