I’m in Vegas and in order to avoid being overstimulated my spouse and I are pretending that we’re showing Oscar Wilde around, and tbh? It’s working. He loved Magic Mike Live
samah @ammar-family24 was neighbours with an elderly man who was kind enough to provide her with transport in his car and share food that he bought with her and her baby, without asking for anything at all in return
unfortunately, this man was martyred just a few days ago and samah is now without anyone who is willing to help her with this
this is a big problem as ammar requires 4 cartons of milk and 1 pack of diapers per week. one carton of milk now costs $110 $150 in gaza, and 1 pack of diapers costs $170
this means altogether, ammar would need $610 $770 per week for these daily needs
this sounds like a relatively manageable amount, but unfortunately all merchants currently take all of payments in physical cash, and the people who change paypal money into physical cash demand a 48% 55% fee
between this, a 25% 30% paypal fee, and a 5% ko-fi fee, the end amount we end up needing to send to samah is $1623 $2079 $2401 $2577 instead. please do what you can to help keep ammar fed as well
Support Cam
samah’s original campaign and account are shared by 90-ghost, but it was shut down as her organiser’s bank account was deactivated
proof samah asked me to use my paypal / ko-fi account here - this is the second one i have made. i have also attached a screenshot proving that i checked with her that it'd be okay to use another ko-fi i made under the cut
$0 / $2577
1 carton of milk will require us to raise $297 $405 $468 $502 after fees
1 bag of diapers will require us to raise $459 $531 $569 after fees
half a bag of diapers will require us to raise $230 $263 after fees
merchants no longer accept buying half a bag of diapers, only one full bag
please consider these as mid-way points or temporary goals for this
fuck i just saw that there are some google street view photo spheres in the gaza strip and now im fucked up
cause the satellite view is recent and its a nightmare just shattered gray expanses of rubble and all these deep ruts through the dirt everywhere that looks like some kind of machinery.
but the photo spheres are from before the buildings were destroyed so there are these cute little courtyard gardens with olive trees and pots with herbs painted in colors and nice little apartment buildings with laundry out to dry on the balconies. and when you zoom out to satellite its just completely obliterated wasteland of rubble and debris
a couple others of the destroyed sites were a greenhouse full of tomato plants and a fountain on the campus of a university where a bunch of girls were sitting in groups together on the grass talking with their friends
and the google maps labels are still there. "playground" and its just unrecognizable rubble. "lingerie shop" and its just unrecognizable rubble. all the parks and businesses and everything say "temporarily closed."
this isn’t only about abortion rights but the criminalization of drug use & addiction as well. this person was drug-tested without her permission, was found to have meth in her system.
despite having no evidence that drug use caused the stillbirth, and the fact that california law doesn’t criminalize stillbirth even if drugs are involved, she was interrogated by the police about her drug use and charged for the murder of her dead son. the same district attorney that prosecuted her had earlier went after someone else for stillbirth with alleged meth usage. both women spent over a year (as many as 4) behind bars before the cases were dismissed.
if we’re going to fight for abortion rights, we need to fight for the rights of drug users and addicts as well. they used this woman’s addiction to try and force punishment on her for a death that was not her fault. as long as the attitude the general public has on addicts continues, this will continue to happen as well, even if abortion is protected.
Yes, and as often with anti-addict bigotry, there’s a racial component too. I highly recommend the You’re Wrong About episode ‘crack babies’, which explains in great detail how the persecution of mothers based on accusations of drug use is just another blatantly racist way in which the war on drugs incarcerates mainly black people. https://www.stitcher.com/show/youre-wrong-about/episode/crack-babies-54339142
Hey folks! I know this is not the usual horror art content, but hear me out for a second!
Some friends and I have been helping Farah, a Palestinian girl who has been through some heartbreaking family tragedy, leave the country using a student visa. She now has a scholarship to continue her nursing studies in a French university, but we've reached a roadblock: the embassy is asking for 8400€ for her to be able to even leave the country.
So we are putting together a fundraiser to cover this and, if possible, some expenses so she can live in France and help her family! Please help us reach this goal if you have a little bit to spare!
Hello kind donors,
Any little bit helps, and if you can't help right now, sharing this would be kindly appreciated! I know there are a lot of these fundraisers, and it's easy to become desensitized, but helping out here could really change a life! Thank you! <3
part 3 of the 2023 version of this post: adult books!
part 1: middle grade books | part 2: young adult books
this is a very incomplete list, as these are only books I've read and enjoyed. not all books are going to be for all readers, so I'd recommend looking up synopses and content warnings. feel free to message me with any questions about specific representation!

if you wanna talk about complex lesbian identities how about "I don't feel allowed to call myself a lesbian as a trans woman on account of all the transmisogyny from literally everyone but I also have to constantly assert that I am or everyone acts even more like I'm incapable of being one, not to mention sexual harassment from guys pulling their own "complicated relationship to lesbianism" card to justify harassing transfem lesbians on the internet in a way that paints the women being harassed as transphobic somehow"
like it's all "complicated relationship to lesbianism" until a trans woman exists and likes other women and calls herself a lesbian (and god forbid she be bigender or non-binary or plays with her gender in a way that doesn't fit people's derogatory view of "binary trans woman") and then everyone gets fucking weird.
(because it's an unspoken "complicated afab relationship to lesbianism" that everyone suddenly seems fine with)
and then of course extra god forbid she say something about the historical and ongoing transmisogyny in the "community" she's part of because then suddenly she's an "outside male invader attacking lesbians for no reason" and not literally just a girl wanting to be treated better.
Like I literally do not care who gets to call themselves a lesbian, acceptance is great and i laugh at the idea that it's some sacred innate identity, but holy shit can some of that accepting energy extend to trans women please???? Hi we've also always been here too! we're trans people who have a long connection to lesbianism too! it's just that we keep being excluded from it. can we please extend some of that acceptance to literally women please?
