“Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment. Which is pretty amazing, when you actually think about it.”
“So many versions of just one memory, and yet none of them were right or wrong. Instead, they were all pieces. Only when fitted together, edge to edge, could they even begin to tell the whole story.”

Hey Guys longtime no post but I really need y'alls help
Hi everyone, my name is Chelsea, and I’m Benji's Owner. On November 4th 2021 … Jen K needs your support for Hit by a Car: Help With Benji’s
Hi everyone, my name is Chelsea, and I’m Benji's Owner. On November 4th 2021 I got the call no pet owner wants to hear. Benji, my 8lb yorkie, had been hit by a car in a hit-and-run. He laid limp, unmoving and yelping on the ground as my senior father rushed to his aid, bringing him straight to his veterinary clinic.
The initial vet examination determined Benji had a concussion and badly fractured hip that would require surgery in the following days. Upon urgently transferring him to another facility, we found out that diagnosis was the bare minimum, as many things had been missed.
The reality and extent of Benji's Injuries include:
•A right hip dislocation
•A left hip fracture / fractured pelvis
•A broken tail
•Internal bleeding that led to severe anemia, causing the need for a life saving blood transfusion at 3:45am on November 6th
•A large hematoma
•Heavy bruising of his entire lower abdomen and legs
• A concussion
• Road rash and inflammation forming on his hind end
• There was a concern for nerve damage but at this time he appears to be out of the woods for this, following a full neurological consultation he had on the 6th
Currently Benji has been in the ICU at Canada West Veterinary Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. He arrived here urgently on November 5th and will remain there until November 11th or 12th. He requires 24/7 care while stabilizing for surgery, frequent pain management, and blood draws.
Current Medications Needed:
• Injectable fentanayl, upwards of 10 vials/day
• Gabapebtin aprox 5 pills/day
• Trazadone 3x per/day
•Various anti-biotics
• Various pain killers, such as ketamine
•IV Sedation for certain procedures
The average cost per night in the ICU ranges from $390-$460 thus far, depending on the needs of the evening.
Benji needed a blood transfusion which alone cost $1200 for all supplies, testing, cross matching, medications and following care.
He also needed an exploratory ultrasound and biopsy to determine the nature of a mass that appeared (diagnosed as hematoma). This procedure was $560
On day 1 at the vet I was quoted 7-10 thousand dollars. We’ve now well exceeded that number and currently only $1900 of my $7500 deposit remains. These costs we have incurred have all been pre-surgery costs, as surgery will be on Tuesday, November 9th. This means the cost of surgery is estimated to be anywhere from $8000 to $10,000, on top of my previous $7500 deposit, plus an additional 2 days of post-op that will need to happen within the vet’s clinic.
I understand it is important to be transparent so here is my first invoice detailing the costs:
Benji needs surgery to heal and have a good quality of life. At 8 years old he easily has many more years to come and just needs your help to reach the road to recovery.
He is my rock and built-in best friend. He was strong enough to survive a hit-and-run and deserves to have the best chance at life he can get. He is a 10/10 good boy who has stolen all the nurses hearts.

"I'm not lazy, I'm just tired. and I don't mean because I've been working hard. Not at all. I'm tired from forcing myself to get out of bed everyday. I'm tired of distracting myself from the thoughts in my brain. I'm tired because all my energy is put to surviving and people don't understand that because all they see is how unproductive you are."
having c-ptsd be like: *dissociates* *feels a breakdown nearing* *tries to distract* *procrastinates* *breaks down so bad you can’t move afterwards* *has a nightmare* *wakes up in cold sweat and crying* *stays in bed all day but still exhausted and everything hurts* *worries about future* *gets triggered* *can’t figure out if something bad is happening right now or all the stress is from the past* *has intrusive thoughts that induce guilt* *gets anxiety attack* *they’re coming they’re coming* *has a flashback* *considers telling someone and decides it’s too much to handle* *isolates* *considers self harm* *just let me get thru these next few hours*
“There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you’d better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you’ll never understand what it’s saying.”
Sometimes, the pain isn’t poetic. Sometimes, there is no lesson to be learned. Sometimes, all we can do is break down and let it hurt till we don’t hurt no more.
