I see this take of people being fascinated by what Kie and Rafe’s dynamic truly is, because there must be some sort of explanation to the way he treats her, right…? Acting as if it’s some unanswered plot point.

And I’m like…yeah…there is an explanation. I thought it was pretty obvious, but ig not. It’s literally because she’s the only girl of the group and he’s picking on her because he’s a weirdo loser who starts fights with people he knows he can overpower. And there’s the added dimension of her being a biracial girl. Idk what everyone else got from the “you’re at least half-kook” line, but I found the weird racial undertone to be obvious.

Starlight Express hyperfixation is still in full swing but I wanna get back into obx especially considering the upcoming season so I figured: Starlight Express Outer Banks au

HEAR ME OUT OK I made some art (heavily inspired by the artist “Dogsamadoodles” art regarding the seal trains pls pls check her out)

Anyway I present Barry the boxcar and Rafe the electric engine. Rafe is a rising champion racer from a long line of champions and Barry’s just a rusty ol boxcar that doesn’t really belong to an official railway or yard (and is used to smuggle illegal stuff).

also I should mention trains in this world are more like livestock or working animals than machines

so now I must list what kind of train everyone is…

John B: Steam engine, obvi

Sarah: First class coach (bc John B and Sarah are literally just Rusty and Pearl fr)

JJ: Third class coach (wooden benches and everything)

Pope: Refrigerated seafood car (bc of the family business)

Kiara: Seafood dining car

Topper: first class lounge car

Ward: Former champion diesel engine

Rafe: Can’t decide between a fancy champion electric engine or a first class bar car

Barry: Boxcar that carries contraband lmao

Do you like any other ship for Rafe besides Barry? And do you like any ship for Barry besides Rafe?

I’m gonna be so honest I haven’t put that much thought into it lmao. For Rafe it’s tough bc he’s just so incredibly toxic and mentally unstable. I know a lot of ppl ship him and Kie but for me that ship makes me uncomfy seeing just how much hatred and fear Kie harbors toward him and how she clearly doesn’t feel safe or comfortable around him. It really rubs me the wrong way tbh, no hate to those that ship it ofc. I don’t mind Rafe and Sofia, but I’d like to see Sofia’s character fleshed out a bit more before I decide if they’re truly meant for each other. I can also sorta see Rafe x JJ but I don’t think about it much bc tbh I don’t gaf about jj 😭

for Barry I just have no fucking clue bc he’s never really interacted with anyone but Rafe 😭 (unless he’s getting beat up)
