mjr is so interesting because it seems like Bunny's worst anxieties being realised; Raffles has found another young man, who he is fond of, who he wants to help, who is braver and stronger and better natured than Bunny, who is a sportsman, who is handsome, who is everything that, in Bunny's mind, Raffles would want from a accomplice. And Raffles is jumping through hoops to help this man, endangering them both, coming so awfully close to involving a third person in this life they live, and Bunny is making mistakes, and Raffles is icing him out, and it feels like it should be a story he writes about as shamefaced as he writes far less obvious slights.

But he doesn't, because it isn't a slight, because if anything it is the culmination of Raffles choosing him. That Teddy and his circumstances are so similar resolutely confirms that the appeal of their partnership to Raffles isn't the power play, or the history, or the beauty, it's Bunny. It's Bunny he lets in, it's Bunny he brings with him to the tower, it's Bunny he takes home, it's Bunny he wants beside him while he runs from how completely he's abandoned any chance of living or loving as a decent man, because it was never the circumstances, it was always him.

weirdly enough i think it's easier to accept non sexual nudity if you're a bit of a a pervert. like people think "boobs are too sexy, people can't be normal about them", and it seems like a compelling argument, boobs are sexy. but when you realise that other things are sexy as well, things like stomachs, thighs, feet, back muscles, and you can normal about them in a non sexual context, so there's no reason anyone can't be normal about any other part of the body.
