Its officially been over a year since I started this piece >< I failed in epic proportions with my 15 project challenge. Last year was insane with my work schedule and lack of social life. However with the start of this year I have a new 40 hour job that will actually allow me to have a social life and a decent income. A new very supporting boyfriend and a lot of options as to where my future might be headed. So hopefully I'll be able to actually finish some of my 20 or so WIPs that I have sitting in my drawer. Here's to a positive outlook on life...

I know I've been severely lacking in keeping up with this blog. I post when I can but with my life it's hard to stay motivated with anything. However. I have been doing a lot of crafting recently, though not all stitching, and have been to a couple of vendor fairs, though nothing very rewarding yet. Love these! Two questions: 1.) Where can I buy this type of plastic canvas, and is there a proper name for it or anything that might help me find it? 2.) How do you cut the designs out when you’re done without there being rough edges left from the canvas?

When I used to do canvas, I was taught to wrap the yarn around the edges.

Oh I know you’re supposed to whipstitch around the edges, but my question is more like, do you cut it before or after you’ve done the whipstitching, and how do you know how close to cut it to the design?

D’oh! Sorry. I would always have my shapes precut, but in this case, I would cut it out before I whipstitched. It would be kind of a zigzag around the yarn. You want a solid bar of plastic on the edge (if that makes sense). Sorry. It’s hard to describe. :(

I usually get the plastic canvas at Michele's or A.C. Moore. But you can also buy lots of them off EBay for pretty cheap. And I also just cut them out with scissors and the edges aren't usually rough. But you can use an Exacto knife as well.
