hot take as a solasmancer but the elf should not have been white nor romanceable in inquisition 👍 you should all been forced to go insane over his (friendly? false? antagonistic?) relationship with your inquisitor and put that elf in situations with your own beautiful mind.

relatedly, i think having trick weekes be the writer in charge of writing a racelocked het romance in and of itself would have been widely considered a setup by a fandom and dev team that wasn’t as white & casually racist as dragon age. rancid decisions being made all the way down to the root.

and despite all that because you played a romance it moved you in some type of way (<- fine, normal, long live tragic romance) for a DECADE+ we’ve had unbelievable levels of insane, borderline snapewife behaviour over this man and some of you are still going. when will you be done

Communal getting ready moments and a camping cuddle pile, cause I've been itching to draw more moments of Rook with everyone in scenes we don't get to see in game.

More thoughts I had under the cut!

Bathing: I like to imagine that every culture/region has slightly different bathing practices. Dalish clans probably have to bathe communally out of necessity, while in Tevinter there are bath houses just for mages/ humans and it gets less hierarchical in a place like Dock Town. In Origins you can find stand alone baths but mainly I spotted them in the upper caste homes in Orzammar and human homes in Denerim. Since Nevarra is a wealthier city, on large part due to the Necropolis, I imagine individual bathing (and maybe plumbing) would be more commonplace.

Braiding Hair: Harding's hair changed a lot from Inquisition to Veilguard, and I think it makes the most sense that she would pick up different techniques during her traveling. Rook has a style they can do on their own, but doesn't mind the help. While Taash's style is simple and easy to do on their own, but the length alone means having other's help makes the process all the easier. And of course Taash would be thinking about how to get more gold and jewels into everyone's wardrobe. They know a guy.

Elf Camping Trips: Bellara notices that Rook always listens intently whenever she or Davrin bring up their clans, but won't ask them about it unprompted. When Davrin heard Rook tell Emmrich they didn't want to be perceived as a 'flat ear' by asking too many questions, he decided to make sure the three of them could have regular camping trips. Davrin talks about Dalish tracking methods and repairing the Aravels (how he started whittling) while Bellara cooks traditional Dalish food and tells the various versions of Dalish stories she's collected. Both Bellara and Davrin are far more used to being outdoors due to their professions and growing up Dalish. Poor Rook can't keep up with them (but tries to) and always ends up going to sleep first.

I went into origins completely blind on the romance options, but I was quickly swept off my feet by his antivan rizz, eventho I miss out on 80% of loot....

I will admit I haven't finished Origins yet because I'm stupid, and I just dont get the combat😭

Story wise, it was amazing, so I definitely will finish it. I currently have arrived at the deep roads!

Warframe threw a wrench in all my rpg plans🙈 I've been so obsessed with it I stopped playing all my other games, but I'm getting back to the games I started and never finished!

She's using all of her strongest ✨diplomatic tools✨ to convince Inquisitor Lavellan of just ignoring Josephine's knocks on the door and stay in bed for a few more minutes. The Inquisitor really has to go, but what kind of merciful and just leader would she be if she ignored such a pleading look from a subject, right? She'll at least hear her out... She's making a really compelling case 👀❤️‍🔥

Thanks to the power of yuri, anime and BG3 I'm no longer artblocked but I've been really busy lately so even if I can draw again I can't do it for very long yet 😭😭 I have a lil angst yuri Seravellan mini comic planned and mapped out but couldn't sketch it properly yet so I settled for this scribble for the time being to calm down the Voices a bit (btw it's also angst but I'm the only one with the lore to know why 🥺🥺🥺🥺 y'all will understand sooner or later lol)

um. i think it's interesting bc da2 is possibly the game that's most willing to be critical of the templars, that presents the most unpleasant view of them in the series, but it's also a game with Notably quite a few "good" templars, who are shown to go out of their way to try to be kinder to mages than their peers — thrask, emeric, and samson (who is no longer a templar when we meet him because he was fired for his transgression. of. passing love notes.) & of course carver's namesake.

& the thing that they all have in common is that they subvert their orders. the "kind" templars in da2, across the board, all defy orders and expectations— thrask comes to you behind his superiors' backs to plead for you to stop his own colleague from catching up to some runaway mages for fear of what he'll do to them, emeric begs you to help investigate a series of murders of young women after both the city guard and his own superiors have already expressly told him to drop it, and. samson passed love notes between mages. (and when you meet him he may also ask for money in exchange for information on feynriel, but iirc he expresses hope that you're successful). maurevar carver helps malcolm escape.

and pretty much all of them suffer immensely for it! thrask and emeric are both ultimately killed. samson spends the entirety of the game homeless and suffering lyrium withdrawal before ultimately breaking, turning on you and returning to meredith.

& i think these characters and their actions and the consequences they suffer for their, let's be real, Basic Decency... really highlight what it is to be a templar who is still comfortably employed. like. the existence of these "good" templars, and the specific things they do in order to be "good," highlights how the only Good, kind, compassionate actions in this position are to Refuse To Do what templars do, especially in kirkwall. because these acts — stopping mages from being slaughtered, even passing harmless notes between them — are fireable offences. so, like, the templars that remain employed, that are Not going behind their commander's back... what are They doing?
