The Story Collider online magazine
When Ben and Brian first started The Story Collider over a year ago, their goal – aside from putting on a kick-ass show, of course – was to make science real and relatable for everyone. To do that, they needed to get as many different voices as possible involved. They wanted the most diverse perspectives, and the most original stories about the way science affects our lives, reaching the widest possible audience.
Since then, The Story Collider has presented stories from 120 different storytellers and produced 50 podcasts, selling out venues in New York and D.C., and attracting attention from The Wall Street Journal, BBC Travel, and Nature magazine.
Now we're taking it one step further.
This December, The Story Collider is launching an online magazine through its website. We're all very excited about this because not only will it enable us to gather stories from previously untapped sources – i.e. the microphone-shy, and those who don't live in New York City or any of the other cities we've put on shows – but it will also help us tell stories in new ways, to new audiences.
We need your help to get started.
This is what we're looking for:
Personal stories about how your life has been affected by science – similar to those from our stage show, but longer and more in-depth (approximately 2,000-4,000 words)
Stories about how someone else's life has been affected by science. Maybe you know someone who's had an amazing experience and you'd like to interview them and write their story.
Stories in visual form – from photographs to art to comics.
If you have an idea for a science story you'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you. Send me your pitch at [email protected].
