Beautiful
One Day Rentals: Just Cause 4
So I have decided to start a thing where I'll rent a game or movie from the Redbox machine where I work -for a day- and review it for my blog.
So, I don't normally bitch about graphics, but Just Cause 4 is an UGLY game. I play on Xbox One (first-generation 500gb model, came bundled with a physical copy of the LEGO Movie game) and once I passed the opening mission, the game got ugly in a damn hurry. I'm talking about a nauseating amount of antialiasing, more artifacts than in your average Tomb Raider game, Headache-inducing FOV, and lipsynching in cutscenes that leave a LOT to be desired.
Don't get me wrong, the parachute-and-grapple mechanic works more beautifully than I remember from JC3, and the 40gb download is a relief compared to its predecessor's titanic hard-drive-clearing 150gb, but a game from late 2018 should not look this awful
Top games of 2018
2018 was a pretty great year; Anthrocon, Wedding, moving, AnthrOhio at a new location, meeting Maile Flanagan and Charisma Carpenter at Wizard World Comic Con here in Columbus, all the while I took time to enjoy me some games, here are my favorites
Red Dead Redemption 2
I didn't buy Red Dead 2, I wasn't even looking forward to *shudders* hi-def horse testicles, but god bless my Roommate for installing Red Dead 2 on my Xbox. It is the most impressive game I've played all year and it plays really well. Sure, I find glitches in the game on an almost weekly basis, but Rockstar Games knocked it out of the park with this one! In my opinion, GAME OF THE YEAR!
Far Cry 5
Far Cry 5 had a forgettable story and the ending was an anticlimax, but the Arcade player-made maps and DLC more than made up for it.
Jurassic World Evolution
It's no secret I'm a fan of Jurassic Park, so the spiritual successor to what I consider to be the best Jurassic Park game (Jurassic Park Operation Genesis) was something I looked forward to. It didn't completely disappoint, and I'm hoping Frontier can keep it fresh for at least until the next Jurassic World movie comes out.
Fallout 76
I was really looking forward to Fallout 76, even Preordered it in order to participate in the B.E.T.A. I really should've taken the BETA's limited-time play periods as a clue to this Tire Fire of a game.
Bowsette by Alex-Chow
The best version of Bowsette I've seen so far. Gorgeous

Tama is boss
THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM
Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away⌠An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the catâs funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who havenât read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. Sheâs now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
Beautiful.
Now Iâm crying thanks
and a new cat was hired right?
yep! her name is Nitama (essentially âsecond tamaâ or âtama IIâ) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy
she works very hard
Everytime this crosses my dash, I reblog. It is the law.
Iâm crying at 11pm over train cats
âWoke up and looked out the window this morning to see these little guysâ

This is my friend TJ, wearing a costume she made for Halloween, 1977. She was 16 at the time. Now, keep in mind: there was no internet to search for images. She could not have rented and paused the movie, because it wasnât released on video until 1982. No, TJ just went to the movie a bunch of times, took notes with a flashlight, drew a bunch of sketches, and put this together. In 19-fucking-77. So letâs bury this bullshit about how women didnât grow up on Star Wars.
That's amazing!
2018 Goal: Anthrocon
So last year, due to certain events, I had to duck out on my plans to attend Anthrocon. This year, I'm hoping to visit Pittsburgh for Anthrocon. For real this time. I've got the Vacation days set aside, I got Dack's bodysuit finished last year. Not gonna jinx myself again.
oh my god.
let me share a memory with yâall. itâs from i guess 1978 or thereabouts. itâs high summer. i donât remember where my mom was driving me, in our avocado green chevette, i just know there was a traffic jam that turned 35w northbound into a parking lot from horizon to horizon.
picture it â wait, you donât have to use your imagination, this happened all the damn time back then.
every one of those damn cars was burning leaded gasoline. there were no emissions regulations. there were no safety regulations. there were just thousands and thousands of detroit steel shoeboxes belching visible smoke as they idled, engines loud and hot, here and there a radiator giving up in the heat, a cloud of burning oil rising.
i, a smeet of five or six, was choking on toxic smog.
i reckon it was about a half hour into the traffic jam that i first threw up. i remember a blinding headache, i remember being confused, i remember dry heaving with my arms and head hanging out the window, the green metal of the car burning my hands and my chin. i donât remember passing out, but iâm told i lost consciousness before mom was able to get to an off-ramp, because there were no emergency lanes on the highways back then.
i lived. and life went on. what were we going to do, complain? if iâd died, the cause of death probably wouldâve been recorded as heatstroke, not carbon monoxide poisoning.
i know iâm probably preaching to the choir here on tumblr. but i really wish i could tell that story to the people who think deregulation is no big deal. i wish theyâd put themselves in my momâs shoes.
or even just look at some old pictures, then look out the window.
ever notice how cityscapes used to have that orange tint and hazy aura? yeah, thatâs poison gas.
remember how the mississippi river used to be a stinking soup of baby-shit yellow sludge covered with disturbingly stiff rafts of light orange foam?
i canât even find pictures of the sludge and foam, i guess they didnât end up on the internet. the smell was indescribable. that oily shimmer. the reek of dead things. people didnât boat on the river for pleasure; it smelled too bad, it was too ugly, and you could get super super sick if you touched the water.
and now look at it.
i still wouldnât want to drink it, but if i fell in i wouldnât bolt for the shower in a panic, you know?
if the thieving billionaires get their way, we can kiss those sailboats goodbye, and learn the smell of toxic foam once more. the ultra-rich wonât even feel the extra money, theyâve already got more than they could ever touch, they just stash it in offshore accounts to rot, but the rest of us will return to a time of neverending nausea and weird cancers. a time when every elementary school class had at least one kind whoâd been born with no fingers or their heart outside their body, and this was just⌠the way things were.
iâm sorry. i didnât mean to longpost. itâs just. god. yâall have no idea how CLEAN everything is now, compared to when i was a kid. and these rich old men are counting on that, on people not knowing or not remembering how bad it was before regulation, not realizing how much we need these protections until itâs too late.
đ¨ The internet needs you đ¨
Youâre up again, Tumblr.Â
Back in 2015 you demanded that the FCC adopt strict net neutrality rules and establish a free and open internet. And you won.Â
That shouldâve been the end of it. But apparently not.
The new head of the FCC wants to undo the net neutrality protections you fought so hard for.
His proposed changes open the door to your web traffic being slowed down, or even blocked altogether. You could be forced to pay extra to use your favorite apps. You could even be prevented from getting news from the sources you trust.
Title II protects consumers and democracy by ensuring all voices can be heard.
You know the drill. Hereâs what to do:
The FCC is taking comments from the public, and dearfcc.org is making it as simple as possible for you to make your voice heard.
Go there now đ dearfcc.org âď¸
Youâll just need to provide a name, an address, and then say a little bit about why rolling back Title II protections is a bad idea. If youâre not quite sure what to write, hereâs something to get you started:
Iâm writing to urge you to keep our Open Internet rules based on Title II in place. Without them, we could lose the internet as we know it.
The proposed changes to FCC rules would allow fast lanes for sites that pay, and force everyone else into slow lanes. Weâve already seen access to streaming services like Netflix, popular games like League of Legends, and communication platforms like FaceTime slowed down, or even blocked. Conditions like this hurt businesses large and small, and penalize the users who patronize them.Â
The changes also open the door to unfair taxes on internet users, and could also make it harder for blogs, nonprofits, artists, and others who canât pay up to have their voices heard.
Please leave the existing net neutrality rules based on Title II in place.
Thank you!
If you need more ammo, feel free to quote these experts from our net neutrality Issue Time. TechCrunch and Battle for the Net also have some good starters.
Everyone is counting on everyone else here. Do your part and tell the FCC to keep a free and open internet under Title II.Â
THE ONE TIME I AGREE WITH @staff
alright Iâve been hesitant to reblog a net neutrality post to my snake blog but fuck, even staff is on this boat, I hope it comes across as important
âFursuiting has a certain dimming effect on oneâs senses.
My senses arenât razor sharp on the best day, so cover me in fur, take away a good portion of my hearing and vision, and I become a tad ineffectual in navigating the world around me.
Rambling up the pier on a sunny Sunday, I became aware of a sudden heaviness in my right leg.âUh oh,â I thought. âStroke.â
Upon closer examination, I discovered that my difficulty walking was not caused by a blood clot, but rather this young man who had anchored himself to my side.
Relieved, I patted his head, gave him the happy paws and looked around for the camera. Surely his parents were taking pictures of their giddy son and the giant canine.
It was then I realized that he was sobbing, and no cameras, let alone parental units, were in evidence.
Dogs I understand. Children are a mystery to me. Worried that I had crushed his little foot, or smacked him with my tail, I asked him what was the matter.
âI canât find my daddy!â He said between hiccups. âThatâs OK,â I said. âIâll sniff him out for you.â "Really? You promise?â He gripped me tighter and brightened a little. âOf course! Iâm a search and rescue dog. No problem.â
He grinned and held my paw and I then realized that I had better locate pops post haste or the kid would grow up not to trust talking dogs. I couldnât have that.
We walked slowly up the pier, searching for daddy, both trying to smile for the tourists. Little Carlos related that his papa had been fishing, but had moved to a new spot on the rail. The kid had walked over to look at a seagull, and somehow lost track of his dadâs position. I wagged. I was looking for a guy fishing from the pier, and that narrowed my search to only a few hundred blokes. Piece of cake.
âWhat does your daddy look like?â I asked. âHeâs wearing a white t-shirt.â Carlos offered. I looked around. So were 90% of the others fishing.
Sensing that I needed more information, he thought hard for a moment. âHe fishes with squid!â He exclaimed, convinced that hunk of knowledge would lead us to pops like no other.
We walked up and down the pier. Twice. Carlos started to cry again, and I felt a peculiar mix of compassion, panic and failure. What if we never found his dad? Iâd have to raise him as my own. Where would he sleep? What do kids eat? Kids grow up so fast. How could I afford shoes and tiny fursuits every 6 months?
Just when we were both about to dissolve into sobbing puddles,a frantic man came running towards us, brandishing a fishing rod and a look of profound relief. Iâll never forget it.
âMijo!â He exclaimed, scooping up the kid and hugging him so tightI thought he might pop. They were both crying and smiling and a flood of relief washed over me. I wouldnât have to worry about making pint sized DTDâs after allâŚ.
Carlos Sr. shook my paw vigorously and thanked me again and again for taking the time to help his boy. He had no idea howthey became separated, but a nice lady on the end of the piertold him that a talking dog was wandering around with a lost kiddo. At least I was easy to spot.
As father and son resumed their day of pescatory bliss, I feltlike a very good dog. Crisis averted, I continued my stroll, heading decidedly for the watering hole with the coldest beer.Â
I may not be much of a search and rescue dog, but I felt like it at that moment.â

Bad news
Due to some unforeseen issues, I will NOT be attending Anthrocon as originally planned. As I've said many many times before "there's always next year"
Temporary Ref sheet for Dack. I'm planning on commissioning a friend for one that doesn't look like total crap
Fun times at AnthrOhio 2017 @skylar-2015
