I’m not going anywhere! I haven’t finished yet.
Me neither :-) I started posting a new Johnlock ff today and I promised my readers a flood this year. I’ve just about convinced myself that S4 never happened the way it did and I’m still waiting for the actual episodes. Until then, fanfiction it is.
I did notice that parts of the fandom seem to have regressed to post-Reichenbach levels of madness and it made me smile and feel a bit nostalgic.
My wife was on a visit to her mother’s, and for a few days I was a dweller once more in my old quarters at Baker Street.

He looked at her like she was the sun, in that he never looked at her except in frustration. He basked in her warmth, he complained when she was gone, but he never looked. On days she was muted, he complained. On days she was stronger, he hid from her. He never looked at her until she was leaving, and in the beauty of the sunset he wondered how he’d never seen her before.

the hellsite has its issues but my absolute hands-down favorite thing about tumblr is its neverending ability to take a snarky shower-thoughty post and turn it into a beautiful little snippet of writing.

Summary:
John has an accident in the laboratory of the Baskerville military facility. While they wait for the scientists to find a solution, he and Sherlock must re-examine the nature of their friendship as they navigate daily life and the Work, all while trying to answer the truly important questions: Is it okay to pet your flatmate if he happens to be a dog at the moment? And how exactly do you beg a self-professed sociopath for cuddles?
Mofftiss: This new season is more interconnected than any of our previous seasons! It's the culmination of everything we've been hinting at for the last 7 years! Everything gets tied up!
S4: narrative and characterization arcs flip a full 180 between episodes, appearificates a plot line from the fucking void of space, abandons questions and loose ends brought up in episode one, generally makes absolutely no fucking sense which confuses a majority of the audience
I’m actually fine with no new seasons. Our fic is better.
What I mean is, our body of work, artists, writers, meta-writers, fans, readers, commenters… all of that means so much more to me. Thanks to the writers and cast for giving us pretty faces (well, talented actors) to manipulate within our own realm.
We have a hundred Sherlocks. A hundred Johns. They wear the same faces, but they belong to us. And that, my friends, is worth so much more than anything they put on a screen and make money off of.
I agree entirely. I really believe that we take much better care of Sherlock and John here than Moftiss do. I have read so many fantastic, true-to-character stories here, and all of them have been intelligent and informed reads. The fics are a thousand times more plausible and much more satisfying stories than the show. This fandom and its prolific output is amazing. I love the range of opinions here, I love the perspectives, I love how quickly information is sorted and posted, I love the humour and I love the people.
I actually wrote a fix-it fanfic for TFP already because I could not stand to let this community suffer one moment longer. Once I got over the shock of that finale, the first thing I did was sit down and write. Because writing is what I know and writing is what I do and writing made me feel better. And I throw it out into the world and hope reading it will make you feel better, too.

Agreed… it’s what got me through 2014 and everyone trying to tear TJLC down, I’m trying to summon that outlook again.
I will follow you into hell. Worst case scenario is we just end up in a different part of it since Im already there.
Yeah, I’m feeling like my choices are…
1) I can be miserable this week for good reason
or
2) I can be miserable this week, needlessly
or
3) I can spend the week feeling cautiously okay and then let down on Sunday, which I can’t foresee really crushing me since my guard is up too much now
or
4) I can spend the week feeling cautiously okay and I’m still able to be thrilled when something is released Sunday
So I’m looking at it like this: #3 is actually better than throwing in the towel now, because it turns a shitty week into a meh one. I’ll still have pretty much processed any potential bad result and arrive at acceptance by Sunday. And waiting another week at least gives me a chance at enjoying some reveal. If I dwell on negative thoughts I’ll be too burnt out and bitter to enjoy #4 if it happens, and that’s the outcome I most want to avoid.
