Her face was beat red as she glanced up at him. “Okay, I’ll get side dishes ready. I’ll get Scrooge McDuck to deliver a bunch of seasalt ice cream. I’ll see you soon.” She gently squeezes his hand before running off.

God, that blush was cute.

"Yeah, alright. Sea-salt it is. Ice cream. Yeah. Yeah, ice cream is good." He had that goofy grin on his face as she squeezed his hand and ran off to go and get things ready.

Riku was right. He's whipped.

“You’re right. I’ll be more cheerful, when asking.” Aqua kissed him on the cheek before coughing. “Um, right. I was thinking we could use our home, since it’s big & we could have a barbecue or something.” She says while avoiding his eyes.

His ocean blue eyes softened, a gentle smile on his lips at Aqua's gentle kiss. It was so very obvious that she made his heart beat a thousand miles an hour sometimes.

"Yeah. That sounds like a good idea. I'll have to go and grab some grilling food, but I can handle that without a problem. I bet everyone'll have such a good time." He chuckled lightly and gave a soft nod to Aqua.

"So let me go tell Riku and the others and then we'll get everything started."

"You two are absolutely impossible to deal with sometimes." He has absolutely no words for Aqua and Riku's commentary about the whole marriage question.

She looks at his face & taps his forehead. “Don’t look so nervous. I wanted to invite everyone over for a party/sleep over. I think we all need a break.” Aqua says with a light laugh.

"How do you expect me to not look nervous when you looked at me so seriously when this conversation started?" He asked her, sighing and shaking his head rather fondly.

"You're impossible, you know that?" He asked with a half-laugh, then he nodded.

"I'll go and find Riku and Naminé and anyone else I can to invite them over."

" . . . So , are you and Aqua married yet or . . . ?"

"H-hey!" He turned his head aside after staring almost accusingly at Riku.

"That's a private matter-!"

“We need to talk.” Aqua says in a serious voice.

"Uhh..."

He was very nervous all of a sudden.

"What is it, Aqua?" He asked, blinking a few times as he held up a hand, looking rather worried about the coming conversation.

Xehanort hmphs, sighing. Would he even truly care to truly apologize ..? ..The only true regret he has is Eraqus' death, but .. "Well. At the very least I have taught you about darkness, and how vioatile it can be,'' he mutters, frowning.

"Yeah. Guess you did do that, too. But is it really that important...? Is that really something that means you shouldn't have to apologize to me? Because that's what it sounds like you're indicating. Either way, though, You can wait until I'm ready to see this through to the end. And then I'd be real grateful if you could just be gone from my life. I've had enough of darkness in it, and that's all you seem to bring."

A sudden sorrowful expression comes over his face. "Oh ... I have to apologize you, don't I ...?''

".... Yeah. You really do. But I don't think I'm ready to accept that apology, so you can hold onto it for now and wait until I am ready to accept it."

"No idea whatcha talk about, Teraa! I'm fine. Kairir's fine. Riku's fine. Everything is fine."

Everything is not fine. That's why he's looking for an opening to run. He does not want this conversation today, or ever.

".... It sure doesn't sound fine, but if you're really that adamant." He chuckled. He'll just leave the rest of the teasing to Riku now.

"It's good to see young Terra up and about ...."

Lowkey, he's kinda glad all the attention was on Terra and his crush on Aqua. Now, no one will ask him about his crushes on Riku and Kairi. He can pan panic in peace thank you very much!

"Where we you when I needed backup, pal?"

"...We're not talking about me. We're talking about you and Aqua."

He's not making eye contact. He's actually refusing to make eye contact! Nope. Not gonna open that can of worms.

"Oh, yeah. We're talking about you kid. What's going on over there, huh~? Seems like you're getting kinda heated up."

The silverette's fingers TIGHTENED their grip against his arms as he listened to every word that Terra said . He was going to let it go -- let [ [ a ll ]] of this argument go but then Terra said something that struck his ears like a CHORD .

Slowly , Riku's tongue danced along the bottom of his top teeth as he mulled over his response .

❝ -- You can't say that after being gone for as long as you were . You gave me that stupid keyblade then what ? Left ? You left me , like every other FUCKING ADULT left the rest of us . To figure this shit out . . . face the world on our own , and we MIGHT survive . . . what would you have done if I hadn't ? ❞

He took a deep breath while he tried to [ [ d r a w ] ] back into himself . Another deep breath was just to bring him back to reality , and away from the tightrope he was so [ [ d a n g e r o u s l y ] ] walking .

'Terra ? He's the big brother I've always wanted !'

❝ . . . The second you became a Master you broke that promise . ❞ Riku said quietly , ❝ -- I took it to protect those that matter , and because I didn't give a shit what happened to me . As long as those AROUND me were safe . Sora , Kairi . . . Naminé . . . ❞

Riku shook his head to clear his thoughts before he decided to continue , ❝ . . Yes , you're here now , but you won't be forever . Don't make that promise to me . Make that promise to the people who will follow with you -- Ven , Aqua . . . .they need you more . ❞

"But I didn't become a Master until after I came back after we fought all of the Darknesses together. And the only reason I left you the way I did in the first place was because I had to protect Aqua and Ventus. I thought that I would come back. How was I supposed to know that the Darkness that had been growing within me was being completely cultivated by Xehanort, as young as I was then? As stubborn as I was then? As pigheaded and flawed and broken as I probably still am?" Excuses didn't measure up for anything, really, but he didn't feel these were excuses.

This was him trying to understand why the world had ended up where it was.

"I shouldn't have trusted Xehanort. I shouldn't have let him take advantage of me. But goddammit, Riku, I saw something in you that reminded me so much of myself when I gave you the Keyblade that day. I trusted that you would be stronger than me, and you've proven me right at every turn. And I'm sorry I left you alone for so long. I really am."

"But I'm so fucking proud of you."

Riku's arms folded across his chest as his aquamarine eyes narrowed slightly . The thing about [ [ t h i s ] ] argument , was that this was one that Riku had had with the voices in his head time and TIME again . He played it like it was a broken record , thinking about how it would go or how it would get thrown down . The SICK thing about reality was that that broken record could be replayed . . . but never play forward the same .

❝ -- Right . ❞

Was all the silverette had in him to say . He was too old for this fight . Too tired to try it , and too [ [ e x h a u s t e d ] ] to keep up the front that he didn't care about those twelve years . He cared . . . a little too much .

At least one of them kept their promise .

❝ . . . ❞

He cast his eyes to the side , letting his hands twist into the fabric on his biceps as he carefully picked his next words.

❝ -- I gave up on you coming back after year five , but I still kept that FUCKING promise . ❞

"Am I not here now? Was I not here when we actually fought against the darknesses? Did I not come back when it was the most important for me to come back? Riku... if I could have come back after I originally made that sacred vow with you, I would have. I didn't want to leave you hanging. I didn't want to disappoint you." He could tell that Riku was probably tired of feeling like he didn't matter. Like no one cared.

Could tell that Riku was tired of hashing out that argument.

"We both fought against the Darkness. And in different ways, we both won and we both lost. But I'm here now. Because I want to be here now. Because you deserve for me to be here now, after everything we've both been through. I'm not gonna promise that nothing will happen again... but I'm going to do my best to stick around this time."

"I promise, I will try my best to stay at your side... here. With all of our friends. The people who matter the most to us."
