Editing tip for better sentence flow.
When writing, you want symmetry with your words. Your writing can seems off when information is presented differently within the same sentence.
Example 1: I love to play soccer, hockey, and go running.
These three items can all be placed and presented together, but the last element is not parallel to the first two. Consider restructuring the sentence as follows: I love soccer, hockey, and running.
Not all unparalleled sentences have a singular correct answer, some have many, it simply depends on how you present your information.
Example 2: Anderson loved riding his bike around the neighbourhood and skateboarding to work.
These two elements are things Anderson enjoys doing, but they are fairly different in sentence construction. Consider the following ways to improve the format.
1. Anderson’s favourite method of transformation is his bike and his skateboard.
2. Anderson loved riding his bike and skateboard outside.
Consider what point is most important in getting across, and then present that. If some information gets left out, but it doesn’t contribute to the story, then leave it out.
Let’s try one last example!
Roll your clothes to save space
Stuff socks into your shoes to keep their shape
Space should be kept for anything you buy while gone
Keep a bag for your dirty clothes
Three of these are written similarly, so you can decide to either change the one different one (Keep space for items you may buy) or you can change your other three points to match the one that is different (space can be saved by rolling your clothes, to keep their shape, shoes can be stuffed with socks, etc)
