Ship dynamic in which both people think they're the moon and the other is their sun
no matter how bad it gets it cannot possibly be as bad as it was this time last year when i was using all my free time to replace the music in captain america the winter soldier with 2000s pop hits
I have you for minutes but want you for hours

What if I bought the $400 LEGO SHIELD Helicarrier and recreated the “you’re my mission” “then finish it cause i’m with you til the end of the line” scene

Theme: Bucky Barnes // Memory // @teamcap10
absolutely sick to my stomach bc steve was the last thing bucky forgot and the first thing he remembered. the sound of his voice and his face was enough to break thru seventy years of brainwashing, torture, and programming. he couldn’t kill captain america bc nothing could override his first mission — protect steve rogers
Steve who was incredibly touch-adverse when he was younger. Steve who grew up constantly being poked and prodded at by doctors and nurses, with a physically abusive dad, with a chip on his shoulder about needing to be strong on his own. And Bucky, naturally touchy, who grew up with a family of sisters. All of them are clingy and loving. Bucky, who learned how to braid hair, how to take care of small children, how to give the best hugs.
And Bucky knows Steve doesn't like touch, and that's fine. Bucky can show his love in other ways, but god. Sometimes he just wants to pull Steve into the biggest bear hug. Bucky finds excuses when he can. He's always slinging his arm over Steve's shoulder, nudging him and pulling him along. Bucky whos always trying to find some excuse to touch Steve. Steve, waking up in the 21st century incredibly touch-starved. He's living in a society where platonic touching is more common than ever, and the only person he wants to hug isn't there. Steve in the 21st century, who's always giving his friends hugs, who'll braid Nat's hair when she's reading next to him on the couch, who'll join cuddle piles without any hesitation. And then- and then-
Bucky is back. Bucky is back, and the second Steve moves towards him, weapon down and palms open, he flinches. Bucky, who was always the one to initiate touch, now barely able to handle being in the same space as other people. And Steve understands it. God, does he understand it, but it hurts. And he can't help but wonder if this was how Bucky felt when they were kids.
anyway. yeah.
Today I’m crying over this 🥰
Say it with me GAYYYYYYYYY
guess what building I’m back in again.
Bucky's Inner World
Just imagine Bucky wandering through his own mind for decades, as if trapped in a dreamlike world, a prison. It isn’t until he sees Steve again for the first time that he finally starts to notice a light at the end of that long tunnel. A spark of hope.

the idea AI and technology more broadly should NOT be used to “predict” criminality used to be such a mainstream and accepted position that it was literally the plot of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I know people may not remember this, since the popular memory of that film is mostly that Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier looks hot and sad and looks cool as fuck when he kills people. However, I really need people to remember this because it's making me insane when I remember that the main plot of that movie is Steve Rogers discovering that a group of fascists are behind an AI program that is going to be used by the US government to “predict” if a crime is going to occur and eliminate the potential perpetrators before the crime even happens. And in response to that discovery, the heroes of that movie, as in the people you the audience are meant to align with, choose to become enemies of the state over allegiance to a government that would use fascist-designed predictive technology. Again, that was such a mainstream and accepted position that even Captain America himself was against it. But now…but now...ha. Just over 10 years later, you have Palatir, Stargate LLC, Oracle, Open AI - all these massive software companies run by some of the richest, most openly fascist fuckers on Earth - and they're all being awarded massive government and military contracts around the world to further develop generative tech to weaponise on mass populations. In places like Palestine, that's already been a reality for many years. But there's no meaningful resistance to the rise in power of these companies or this tech. In fact, most people are giddily feeding this tech their data in exchange for a perceived convenience. Motherfuckers use chatgpt to ask whether they should scratch their ass, and to think for them at higher and higher rates and we know how that data will be used because those tech companies openly brag about it with the president of United States. And….. please, please, can anyone hear me??? it used to be so agreed upon that all this was bad that a CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE funded by the US military no less told you it was bad. How far things come, huh (derogatory)
The Steve news from the Doomsday trailer is so rad (derogatory).
I’ve had this running internal theory since Endgame that the MCU’s treatment of Steve Rogers accidentally follows societal trends in the United States over the last century (aka, after making some genuine progress there’s a reactionary regression based on nostalgic fetishization for a non-existent past).
If you wanted a metaphor for this process, Steve Roger’s arc is basically perfect. They wrote a character who is explicitly framed as a “good guy” who:
- fights his way into the Army in WWII, putting his body on the line for an experimental procedure that might give the US an advantage
- becomes disillusioned to the propaganda side of the US political machine while still choosing to sacrifice himself to save millions of people
- wakes up in a future he doesn’t understand, but still tries to protect
- creates new ties in the future while destroying the organization founded by people he respected because it became authoritarian
- literally becomes a rogue agent wanted by the entire UN after choosing to put his faith in people over systems after years of being shown the corruption of those systems
To write that character, then have him choose to abandon his current found family to go back in time so he can be with a woman he had vague chemistry with (who, it must be noted, eventually married someone else, and is therefore being stripped of at least some of her autonomy) in a literal regression to nostalgia is so insane. It’s tragic.
Of course the MCU is bringing him back in some form. After writing that ending, they faffed around for half a decade—too afraid to make interesting creative choices at the risk of not being hyper-consumable—and are now digging up the metaphorical corpse of the character(s) they know audiences remember fondly in a desperate attempt to cash-in on nostalgia.
It’s a tragedy. It’s perfect. Someone should make a movie about it.
