11th March 2021: I am excited and optimistic about the future today. Days like today are rare so I’m going to cherish the feeling and divert the positive energy into something productive.

day 1: introduce yourself! what’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? what are you studying?

hey there! i’ve been here for a while, but i’m lama. i am a third culture kid and currently a senior in my last semester of university in washington, dc. i am studying interdiscplinary studies in comm, law, economics, and governemnt, followed by two minors in computer science and information systems and technology. i am also in my uni’s honors program, so i love learning, reading, and doing research. but i also love indie music, sitcoms, and now? baking.

day 2: why did you decide on your major?

i have thought about changing my major several times. but because i am interested in the intersections of policy, law, and technology such as algorthimic bias (ai in policing), data privacy rights, digital advocacy and equality (digital divide), and cybersecurity… i thought it was great to understanding technology through my minors, but also on the policy level through my major. it’s so much work, but i am almost there!

whenever i learn chemistry i have to scribble into this notebook. i need to make connections and little drawings, otherwise i wouldn't understand it. and afterwards i explain it to myself with just these notes and talk it out loud.

Today I was thinking about my progress as a person and as a student. And I’ve realized it hasn’t been easy. I don’t think things in life are supposed to be easy. Life is a challenge itself and we’re always trying our best to succeed. Most of the time, our motivation is the career we are pursuing and the things we’d like to do in the future. And we constantly think about our role models and the people who inspire us. And I came to the conclusion that we should be our own inspiration. After everything we’ve been through, the good, the bad, the success, the failure, the ups and downs... We should be proud of ourselves. ❀

bitterly cold. term begins soon and im eager. exactly halfway through Dracula and feeling good.

sorry for always disappearing, im just not sure if i exist anymore and exams arent helping

got drenched on my way to the uni library so i changed into some freshly washed sweats, got some tea, put on my “bloodsworn death” playlist and am doing course work for the rest of the evening
