Hello. I have a question: by chance you or studywiththevampire do you have a study challenge in mind for August? It is the last month of summer and in September (in autumn) we start again with high school or university, so I was curious and interested about something smiley about what you did for April and June.

Hey! I’m not sure if the lovely @studywiththevampire has anything planned, but I wasn’t intending on hosting an August Days of Productivity challenge. You’re absolutely welcome to do the challenge anyways, I’m sure others would join in!

However, I’d be down to organise something for September if enough people are interested! :)

Nor I; however both August and September are looking busy as ever, and I would absolutely join in on a challenge to reclaim my footing for the new semester. Daily posts were overly ambitious, personally, but I’m inclined to try weekly check-ins.

If there is interest in an August Days of Productivity challenge without any one person wanting to host, I don’t mind throwing something together! Anon, do give the word if you want to host for August yourself.

I’d like to add that discipline is also to understand you need a break AND take it. Discipline is to make sure that your body is feeling well and your mental health is not decreasing. It’s about understanding that you might need help and ask for it.

i can not and i mean i can not stress this enough… make a bibliography as you do your research. i mean, make a fully formed, correctly cited bibliography as you work. just do it. i know i know you’re being lazy or you hate making citations or you’ll just get to it later or you don’t want to get distracted etc etc etc

whatever your reasons just make the fuckin bibliography

and while im at it… put the footnotes in properly as you are writing. just… do it. for future you. please. for your sanity. do it.

Always always always tell people you love they are so smart and capable. I will die on this hill. More often than not people are raised in unforgiving environments that tell them they are inherently “stupid” and not good enough for things, whether that be parents or cruel bosses or unsupportive friends. An underrated way of supporting people is reminding them they are brilliant no matter what anyone has ever said about their intellect and potential. so metropolitan museum of art has a register of books they’ve published that are out of print and that you can download for free! they’re mostly books on art, archeology, architecture, fashion and history and i just think that’s super useful and interesting so i wanted to share! you can find all of the books available here!

here's a secret: whatever you're doing, you have to root for your peers with all your heart because it forces you to root for yourself too. I've seen people in various spheres of my life (workplaces, education, art, activism) fall into the trap of envy and resentment when they see others succeed while they struggle, and it always always goes hand in hand with them pulling back and giving up and stagnating.

when you let yourself get sour grapes about shit, you tacitly give up on yourself. when you sit around hoping other people will flop and fail so you can catch up to them, you stop trying. it's a fantasy of mediocrity, the vain wish that other people would walk so you could take the gold medal at a jog. wouldn't you rather come last place at 27mph?

Prepared matcha at home for the first time today (a gift to myself for my two As) and it is so good… I already know this will be a great treat while working and studying.

I still haven’t digested receiving an A on my essays (three short essays, one grade). One of them especially, I thought was weak. The other two felt harder to place; neither strong nor weak and exasperated by inexperience. I never thought I would get an A, and even less so seeing as I did not make the time to seek out all the feedback I should have. It taught me a lot, like how I ought to manage my time next semester and what is expected of me, but also that when I write about something I’m passionate about, it’s good. It has potential.
