Actor Jonathan Joss was just murdered for being gay and married to a trans man. On the first day of pride 2025. He was best known for playing John Redcorn on King of the Hill.
I had no idea he was gay but he was married to a man named Tristan Kern de Gonzales (on valentines day 2025!)
They lived in San Antonio Texas where his family is from and he grew up. He was 59.
In Janurary 2025 his home was burned down which made news. It killed some of his beloved dogs. He didnt elaborate beyond he believed it was arson (gofundme is still up and i suggest donating to help his funeral costs and his husband

As they weeped and mourned in shock, a neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, came out and aimed at de Gonzales…but Joss jumped in front of the bullet and was instantly killed.
Ceja, homophobia murdering coward, tried to take off but de Gonzales had called pigs who vaguely tried to do something. He was arrested and his bail set for $200k. Or as my sister said who the fuck sets bail for a murderer?

Which explains the ramp up of hate and why the murderer shot at de Gonzales (Joss pushed him out of the way). So this is also a transphobia related murder
For being NATIVE and gay, and married to a trans man.
It is extremely important not to leave out that he was an openly gay NATIVE man. Native LGBTQ+ people, and frankly even cis het Natives face very high rates of violence.
If you're gonna tag his death with homophobia and transphobia, you need to be talking about the racialized aspect of this hate crime as well.
I love Arcane because it proves I can put my cringe music in what I make as long as the series it’s in is 1. Actually good and 2. So unapologetically cringe about said music that it wraps right back around to kicking ass.
when you are making and reading posts about dire predictions for quality of life, do not forget about reservations.
we already have issues accessing clean water. we already experience devastation from climate change. we are already going missing for our race. we are already being murdered for our culture.
it will only get worse.
it’s possible to live through. every single person indigenous to north america has a chance to live through this. i’m not trying to fear monger; i’m trying to remind you.
please do not forget about us when you assure people that “everything will be okay; people are living under far worse circumstances in other countries”.
people are living under far worse circumstances here. and it can get worse. and it will get worse. and we need you to remember that we’re here when it happens.
Adding on more issues that specifically will get worse under Trump now that non-natives should look out for:
- Reducing funding for the FDPIR. Now the FDPIR has passed out contaminated food on reservations before, and with the Trump cabinets promise to continue to deregulate the food industry even after the destruction of the Chevron Act, it WILL get worse. Especially if funding to the FDPIR is cut. So donate to reservation food programs in your area, like NAFSA. You’ll usually see it be called “food sovereignty programs” if you look around locally.
- Gutting NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act). You MAY see some tribal governments aligning with this deregulation. Do NOT be fooled by this. We’re regular, fallible human beings. And while institutions like the National Park Service have been historically used to steal land from our treaties, NEPA was developed with the direct involvement of tribal governments in mind. Gutting it will be used to further pollute reservation land and destroy tribal land sovereignty. Keep an eye on what happens in your area once the Trump administration starts in on NEPA. This is the policy you can familiarize yourself with about what your role would be in NEPA and you can continue to advocate this way even as it’s being tampered with.
- Abolishing HeadStart, which is a federal education program used by many Americans. But is disproportionately used by native communities. Its abolishment would leave tens of thousands of native children without proof of education. Pay attention to private schooling programs in your area. They may be used to close the gap or they may be used the way they were used only a generation ago to “kill the Indian, save the child.”
- BANNING tribal governments from entering into federal loan agreements (yes, this is real, go to page 383 in Project 2025, it mentions tribal governments specifically). They want to eventually eliminate the Loan Program Office in the Department of the Interior. This would be catastrophic and mean your direct involvement in supporting tribal communities is VITAL!
- Finally, if you want an overview with explanatory links of everything talked about above, including what dogfish posted about, this is a good breakdown of how Project 2025 is going to affect Native communities.

The big shift to the red everywhere was not because more people were voting for Trump. There was a demographic shift in who voted for Trump, which is concerning. But Trump actually got LESS votes than in 2020. The problem was people did not get their ass off of their couch to go vote for Harris. The Dems got 15 MILLION less votes than in 2020, which translates to a big red shift EVERYWHERE. Those 15 million less votes didn’t go to Trump, they just didn’t show up.
Y’all didn’t show up. And I’m very frustrated that you’re blaming Latinos or the zoomers that can’t even vote yet. If you didn’t vote, you don’t have the right to whimper and complain about this.
