but if I were to say that I donāt think vampires inherently and universally represent queerness and that if thatās the only way you engage with any story containing a vampire then a lot of very important messages are going to go straight over your head? i would be killed to death.
ESPECIALLY an issue when vampires very explicitly represent fear of outsider immigrant non-white invaders! Dracula can absolutely be read with a queer lens but we cannot let our desire for ~spooky gay stuff~ blind us to the very real xenophobia, antisemitism, and orientalism present in a LOT of the foundational media in vampire history! nor the racism present in modern vampire stories!!!

This piece has been rotting in my art folder for months now and I finally figured out how I Wanted to color/render Dinraal.
I want to make a piece for each of the dragons, so consider this part 1 of the set.

This WIP has been languishing for several months and I promised myself I'd finish it before I start anything new, so here we go! My wife and I have been very normal about the former West End Hermes and Persephone š

recent epidemic of adaptations that take lots of liberties with the source material and also, separately, are bad. but then if you say "this is bad" you get hit with "you're just being a source material purist and you don't understand the vision"...like. well actually I think it rules when people do new and different things with classic works. I just think these particular new and different things suck ass.
So⦠yeah. Pixel art is addictive.
I bet this works as a dance with the song youāre listening to right now.

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished
it seems like a lot of gender conforming women online are finding it "empowering" to gender things as "for girls" (as opposed to things that are "for boys") and i do not understand this impulse when there was so much work done in the 1990s - 2010s to deconstruct these erroneous categories, and assert that actually nothing is inherently gendered, and women can, should, and DO enjoy/pursue "boy" things. its just so DUMB. individual women dont have the power to end misogyny on their own ofc but it is kind of a moral imperative that you at least make an effort to unlearn internalized misogyny and work to understand where your impulses are coming from and why it might feel good or empowering to fulfill social expectations and reinforce gender categories. this is bare minimum stuffffffffff. and it all just makes me so sad it makes me sooooo sad. because i love women and this may be controversial but i think patriarchy harms women actually.
