It's wild to watch the phrase "tumblr sexyman" morph into "man that tumblr thinks is sexy," because when I first saw the phrase come into use, I always saw it used in reference to the phenomenon of "when presented with a wide array of fictional characters, tumblr will always pick the skinny white man to obsess over, and if the fan-favorite character has no canonical human appearance, the fandom will inevitably create a popular fanon of the character as as a skinny white man."

When I hear "tumblr sexyman," I think of Cecil Night Vale being constantly depicted as a skinny white man instead of literally anything else. I think of the background character white men who get elevated over protagonists that are women, people of color, or otherwise not the white man power fantasy.

"Tumblr sexyman" is, like. An insult. I DON'T want any of my blorbos to win a "tumblr sexyman" poll. "Tumblr sexyman" is the exact opposite of what I want my own OCs to be. If any of my characters ever get called "tumblr sexyman," I will have to immediately re-evaluate myself and the art I'm making.

Years back, I was working at a specialty store, and we got this HUGE crate of plushy toys. They were all insanely cute and squishy. I knew kids would go nuts for them, as it was the first week of December, so parents and grandparents often had kids with them while shopping for furniture, lamps, cooking equipment, lights, etc.

One night, I was working my last hour of my shift covering the Customer Service desk, which meant when I wasn't busy, I was supposed to help clean up around the cash registers, including taking back items people changed their minds about at the checkout. Earlier, I had witnessed a kid carrying thos cute plushy toy. It was a brown and white hedgehog. The kid, at the checkout, saw a remote control car and he told his dad he qanted it. The dad told him, "The plushy or the car- you can't have both" (by the way, I respect boundaries with kids and parents sticking to their guns about it), and the kid picked the car.

So, I'm cleaning up, have less than an hour left of my shift, and I see the little plushy hedgehog. Somehow, he never got put back nor had anyone else seen him and decided to buy him. He was just sitting there, slumped to the side, unattended.

It's Christmas and I'm a sentimental old sap at heart. My brain starts replaying the scene from RUDOLPH where he's on the Island of Misfot Toys, and is told a toy is never truly happy until it is loved. I picked him up and quickly took him back to the bin with the plushies but... It was empty. He was literally the last plushy toy and my boss was about to wheel the bin out. We weren't getting any more toys till November, so that meant any toys left at this point needed to sell or they'd be sent to the dump.

I brought the little hedgehog to the front, figuring someone would see him with the candy, candles, & Christmas brick-a-brack, and fall in love with him. When I finished my shift, I went to ask my manager a question and as I passed the Christmas candle display - there he sat, the sad little slumped over hedgehog plushy. No one had bought him, or even moved him.

My manager, Phillip, saw me and the hedgehog. He asked how the hedgehog got there. I told him how I'd put him there when the bin got sent back, and he was the only plushy left. Philip had kids, I figured he'd probably get sentimental and buy it for his kids. Nope. He shrugged and said he'd send it back to be disposed of.

That night, I came home with a plushy hedgehog in my passenger seat. My mom saw him and just thought he was the cutest little hedgehog and asked what I wanted to do with him. I told her the story, then added I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do with him.

My mom is a child psychiatrist, specializing in children with PTSD and brain damage that results in learning problems/issues with processing their emotions. She asked if she could have the plushy hedgehog (even offered to pay me for him, she didn't expect me to just give him over), so kids could hug him when they were upset in session.

Murphy, the plushy hedgehog that still slumps a little to the left when seated, has been hugged by hundreds of kids. Little girls have held him tight while explaining about bullies, little boys have held him tight while crying over their panic attacks, younger siblings have held him to whisper secrets while elder siblings and parents talk about self-soothing techniques, teenagers have hugged Murphy while talking about the worst day of their lives. Murphy has also been hugged by kids excitedly chatting about a new friend at school, a teen girl excited to be called by her name instead of her dead-name, little kids proudly saying they've mastered their ABCs, and even staff members who just need to come chat over a case they are having trouble with.

Every now and then, my mom brings Murphy home for a weekend. He gets washed (she calls it a Spa Weekend, to her coworkers, all of them laughing), dried, and sits outside with my mom in the sunshine to get aired out, then on Monday, they are back to work. Some kids even just ask to hold Murphy while they talk, no matter their mood or what they want to talk about. They just want to hug Murphy.

So yes. Plushies are made for one purpose. To be hugged and loved. To be a comfort.

What fears and insecurities come to the fore for you when you take your clothes off? It's so good.

The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.

Miku in P5X

Hatsune Miku is present as a Phantom Idol, or cognitive teammate. She has not made any appearance in the main story.

Notably, Miku seems to be a purely digital being within the P5X universe, or at least exists similarly to how she exists in our real world. The brief cutscene at the start of her event had Shun and Shoki recognize her voice, while Motoha knew her by name, implying she likely has a similar level of fame as well.

Some of her voice lines imply she's a computer program/otherwise artificial, but specific details are not given.

Miku does not seem to have a Persona. While she doesn’t strictly have a melee or ranged weapon, as a navigator, P5X does have tools that the navigators use for their abilities, also obtained through the weapon gacha, and hers are holographic projection stages. She sits atop this stage while navigating.

Miku is an Elucidator, the designation used for navigators. Her trait, Virtual Stage, is described as such: "During battle, Miku can change the battle scenery and song playing during her allies' turns, and her skill effects are enhanced based on the current song playing. When Miku's skills become available, the current song will automatically switch. When using Feel the Beat or Clear Sound on songs where Miku has already gained the corresponding Track, reapply the same additional effect.

Track: When this skill's effect is activated, gain a Track corresponding to the song playing. When Miku has 3 different types of Track, she can activate Virtual Concert. (using her Showstopper skill)

Her skills are as follows:

These turns are not counted as extra actions and do not count towards the total number of actions taken, but reduce the countdowns of buffs, debuffs, and continuous damage effects. When Virtual Concert is activated, all buff effects on allies granted by Miku's skills, weapon or Talents are extended by 2 turns. Effects granted when Tracks were gained are reactivated and last for 2 turns. Increase party's critical damage by 0.34% for every 100 points of Miku's Attack (counts up to a certain value, with a maximum percentage). Lasts for 2 turns. Also, restore 35 SP to all allies. During Virtual Concert, support skills cannot be used, and their cooldown time does not decrease. At the end of allies' extra turns, Virtual Concert is removed. Cooldown Time: 6 Wonder actions (does not count extra actions)

Her passive skills are as follows:

Stats Up: Increase party's stats by 20% of Miku's stats.

Setlist: When gaining a Track, increase party's Attack by a certain percentage for 3 turns. Stacks up to 3 times.

Fan Favorite: When Virtual Concert is active, increase party's damage by a certain percentage.

Her recommended card sets are 1) 3 of Coins (Labor) + Prince of Cups (Hope), 2) 4 of Coins (Power) + Princess of Coins (Growth).

The game has no recommended teams for her at the moment.
