Let’s nip this rumor in the bud
Iron Fist is not being scrapped just because we haven’t gotten any news yet. Articles that are making that claim are clickbait and totally full of it.
Marvel’s Netflix shows have always announced casting very close to when filming begins:
Daredevil was cast May ‘14, and started filming in July ‘14 - 2 months between
Jessica Jones was cast in Dec. ‘14, filming started in Feb. ‘15 , 2 months as well
Luke Cage was also announced in Dec. ‘14 for Jessica Jones, so again, 2 months turn around time.
Therefor, it’s pretty safe to assume that we won’t know who’s playing Daniel Rand until 2 months before filming. It’s how Marvel television has operated thus far, with no exceptions.
We can also look to the way filming has been scheduled between shows:
Daredevil season 1 - July ‘14
Jessica Jones - Feb ‘15 (6 months after DD)
Daredevil season 2 - July ‘15 (5 months after JJ)
Luke Cage - Sept. ‘15 ( 1 months after DD2, 7 months after JJ)
Each new production is 6 to 7 months between one another, meaning Iron Fist should start filing late spring/early summer of 2016. So logic would dictate that as long as Marvel continues to do what they have always done, we will get Iron Fist casting in the Spring.
On top of that, we just got very significant Iron Fist casting news in Carrie Anne Moss’ character, Jeryn Hogarth, the gender-swapped version of Jerry Hogarth:
an attorney who works for Wendell Rand, the father of Danny Rand (a.k.a. Iron Fist). After the death of the elder Rand, Hogarth became the executor of the Rand estate and shadowed Danny Rand when he returned from K'un L'un. Coincidentally, Hogarth is the one who put Rand in contact with Colleen Wing and Misty Knight. The character eventually became the attorney for Heroes for Hire with Rand and Luke Cage.
And let’s not forget the easter eggs/set up in Daredevil season one via Madam Gao and the Steel Serpent’s logo all up in Hell’s Kitchen. This makes Iron Fist the only hero to be heavily hinted at in Daredevil.
So basically….. take a page from the man himself, and calm down.
Marvel is doing exactly what they have always done. Iron Fist is being treated the same way as the previous 3 series is a really good sign, and the best indication that things are going well and right on schedule.
