A sigh rolls past his lips for the third time since he started talking. Five is this close to just ignoring the other completely. How long until Klaus realizes he doesn’t give a shit about his weird personal stories? Does he even care?

“ I’m not going to ask what that means . “ He grumbles after a moment of expectant silence.       “ But something tells me you’re going to explain it to me anyway . “

The exact feeling of how he felt back then still lingered through his mind when Five showed the tiniest amount of interest into the meaning of Klaus’s comparison to an old cardigan.  “You know, that feeling of being used the whole time? Getting all grey and saggy instead of shiny and interesting?” his eyes tried to lock with his brother’s as he tried to explain that even the ‘unstable’ person of the family could feel horrible after getting hurt.  “.... an old cardigan is just like that.”

Could that even be called good news? Could Five actually call that good news? When he stopped to think about it, a little time behind bars might sober Klaus up for good. (Or it might traumatize Klaus beyond description, as prisons did tend to, but these things were never predictable, and the chances were fifty-fifty. Five liked those odds.)    

“But the bad news is,” he picked one of the many, many little golden jars up off the table, “you were so high, the only thing you stole was a hell of a lot of honey. And no, I don’t know why, either. You never cared to enlighten me last night.”

Klaus could barely get his eyes open while his body decided it needed a couple more minutes to recover from the vague events that happened the other day. “My head..... it feels like a load of elephants is still making love on top of it.” his words worked their way through his mouth and out in the open while his eyes couldn’t bare the weight of his hangover. It had been a long time since he’d felt like this but in some way he liked the familiar feeling.  Klaus ignored his brother’s first words but when the mention of honey became the subject of the way too early morning he opened one of his eyes.  “Honey?” his eyebrow slightly went up while he tried to get his focus on Five who stood near him, studying one of the many jars filled with honey. “So that’s what those are” he said with amused tone.

"i just killed a man for you."

Unlike any other person he knows, Dave could always make him speechless. Even the first time they met, Klaus had only been able to tell the man his name while his eyes tried to comprehend the beauty and attraction of that man sitting only a few seats away from him at that army transportation bus.  From then and there on, the both of them shared a connection he’d never had with someone else before. It must have been the Vietnam war and fighting for the same cause that brought a bond between them that couldn’t be broken.  Only this time Klaus became speechless by Dave in a different way. It was the combination of the man’s words together with the dark red color of blood on his shirt that made him do a double take. “Dave? Who... who did you kill? Why? You...” Klaus struggled with lots of words, struggling to get out of his mouth and forming sentences. Dave wasn’t the killing type. His heart was way too big and loving to even think about killing someone if he doesn’t have to.

Why was it that every time he spoke the truth, people questioned his honesty?  Djeez....  Alright alright.... he had to admit, not only to others but also to himself that he wasn’t exactly the school example of an honest person... But about the apocalypse he definitely wasn’t lying. 

“No one knows if you are going to be the bomb again that’s going to destroy the world Vanya. Maybe.... maybe you find a way to control yourself this time?” he said with a compassionate voice. “Besides, maybe Five is wrong about this new upcoming apocalypse.”
