“Well, I certainly wouldn’t turn down protection in that circumstance,” George replied slowly, dark brows furrowing intensely enough that his entire countenance seemed to darken for a hair’s breadth of a moment before his features shifted and softened again— still tired but infinitely less worried for the time being. “Is there anything you all need? You may not be my wolves but you’re on our side in this and I don’t want anything to happen to any of you,” He paused for a moment, running a hand across the growing length of his beard, “I ought to be talking to Valentine and Susana about this, shouldn’t I? Gods, I feel like I can’t think straight these days and we’ll be running around with no plans at the rate I’m going.” The wolf exhaled slowly, bright eyes slipping closed for a moment before he offered Tatiana a brief, sheepish smile. “I think I’m being a little dramatic, but we can plan out some things for protection on new moons and such. Assign clan members to look out for a few wolves and you know I’ll always be willing to look out for all of you whenever you need it. Not that you can’t take care of yourselves, but…” He trailed off and shrugged, broad shoulders flexing with the movement, “I guess it’s the principle of it all. No one needs new enchantments on their rings or anything of the sort, do they? I’m sure I could talk to Grace about it if they do, and I’ll admit I’m not entirely sure how any of that works but I can make it happen.”
“Protection” Tatiana repeated with a nod of her head. “You got it.” She figured it was a fair trade; her vampire strength and speed in exchange for the loyalty and shelter the wolves were providing. Then sh shrugged. “You can talk to the queen if you want” she said. “But I figured while I was here I’d ask.” She was more than willing to play messenger between the two leaders. Provided, of course, nobody tried to shoot the messenger. “Of course you know the clan won’t leave you on your own on the new moon.” The vampires were only as strong as their allies at a time like this, which meant the wolves and witches needed to be looked after when they were vulnerable. She showed him her ring. “I can’t speak for the whole clan, but so far mine has held up.” She’d had the same daylight ring for nearly two decades now, having changed it when the one she’d worn before had gone out of style. Part of being immortal meant keeping up with the fashion trends, so that you didn’t stand out like a sore thumb. Blending in was essential. “But I appreciate the offer and I’ll be sure to ask Susana.”
