One of our regular players for DnD is a lot more… corporate than the rest of us. He’s generally sweet and occasionally bizarre and he’s fit in pretty okay for the last several years. Back in early campaign he’d make little doodles and character art and got really weird with it and we were all down with that.

But since the ascendancy of AI he’s been all about it. In the early days several of us expressed discontent with how AI was stealing intellectual property and horrible for the environment and in general is just pretty terrible.

It started with him presenting AI character art for his new character and progressed to him trying to get specific images of our characters during climactic scenes with little to no luck.

The other day he posted an AI song based on the campaign featuring Kahriq and Orion and the lyrics “When we are together we are together”. It’s gotten to the point that we don’t want to shit on him engaging with our characters but we’re extremely uncomfortable.

So now we’re trying to have a conversation about it and it’s going about as poorly as expected.

Well he just quit the group chat and dumped us. So that’s fun. Trying to text him to ask if we can at least talk about it or finish the campaign but we’ll see.

It’s awful, I’m horribly anxious over this and getting friend dumped is always wretched.

I hate this. He was just quiet for days before sending us a message on our discord and then quitting. I'm honestly shocked and really sad about it. I didn't want him to just leave our lives. I like playing D&D with him because he's weird and fun and kinda whacky. I hope he responds to our texts...

I'm also wrapped up in this hell situation and I woke up in disbelief. I can't believe this guy is willing to throw away five years of friendship, four people who care about him, and a slot in a D&D campaign that ACTUALLY plays every week. All over a polite (and reasonable) request to not bring AI into our game space. It sucks to learn that this garbage is more important to him than the actual humans in his life.

I swapped out the colloidal silver nasal spray info for xylitol nasal spray info. I originally included colloidal silver spray because of the linked study and recommendation from RTHM, but I don't want to be pointing people toward something with notable health risks. Xylitol spray (Xlear) is also cheaper and more widely available!

My friend @supernovasolace has been sharing some stories from their partner G’s eating habits and each one is funnier than the last so I finally begged permission to write about it and they both agreed. His actual permission was: “I want you to make whatever art your heart desires. Get as weird with it as you want, give me a fever dream.” This man is so much funnier than I could ever be.

The first story shared with me was fairly innocuous. The couple likes to split up who gets the last crumblies in bags of treats. If they polish off a thing of chocolates one of them gets to tip the bag back and inhale the ghostly whispers of flavor left in the container.

But the item in question was one of those tubs of chocolate salted caramels from Costco.

“Can I finish this?” He asked.

“Go nuts,” they said.

It’s worth noting that N knew this was a terrible idea but it didn’t occur to them to warn him. They simply accepted that their partner wanted to take a face full of sea salt.

He threw back the container and was immediately assaulted get it with the massive granules of salt instead of the chocolate dust he’d been hoping for.

He coughed and choked while N started laughing hysterically and realized a moment too late that he didn’t think about the contents before tossing it back.

But today they shared another story. They were settled up in bed. He was making eye contact with N when he popped a catnip Greenie treat into his mouth. The horror, they informed me, was instantaneous.

“Worse than the caramel salt?” I asked.

“So much worse. Because he did this in a bizarre power play and committed way too hard to the bit.”

When I asked his motivation the sum of it was that he’d been compelled by forces outside his control. He simply obeyed the exhortations of his soul. As a result he stared into his partners soul as tears and regret filled his eyes with each crunch.

The best thing though was that apparently one day N came home to find G in the workshop. He was crouched over an array of M&M’s like a mad scientist, X-acto knife in hand. But he only had green and yellow on his operating table. He was carefully cutting each color in half and sticking yellow to green in a freakish Frankenstein of green and yellow candy coating.

According to N it was a not insignificant number of candies that had been surgically spliced together, an assembly line of confectionary madness.

When they asked what he was doing he informed them he was, “Making Sprite flavor.”

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

My WIPS from the tiredest day. @supernovasolace made a great joke about being in jello jail after being sucked into an ooze in our last session of DnD, so I'm making a sticker design for them to list in their shop.

And then I sketched a giraffe.
