I'm so sick of the "big tent" narrative coming from democrats. It's so goddamn stupid and it will be the reason they continue to lose.
You cannot stand for everything and everybody. You ultimately end up standing for nothing when you try to do that and it's exactly why the democratic party has no message and no real platform outside of "vote for us cause we aren't Trump" and it's why they haven't had one for 15 fucking years. They think that's a broad statement that is appreciated and liked by most people and yet it's a losing message. There's a reason the democratic party has a lower approval rating than Trump and it's because they stand for nothing.
You cannot say you don't support or condone genocide and then vote to give Israel a blank check of American taxpayer dollars to continue one against Palestinians with bombs we paid for.
You can't say that you want campaign finance reform and to get dark money out of politics until it comes to AIPAC.
You can't say you are anti-corruption and then pretend like that doesn't apply to investing in companies whose value you can directly impact with your committee vote.
You can't say you're anticorruption and then have your DOJ do absolutely nothing to charge Trump for his coup attempt on Jan. 6th despite having years to do so.
You can't say you want to codify Roe, spend 30 years not doing that, and then refuse to do anything about the Supreme Court to prevent it from being over turned and then act like a shocked Pikachu meme when it actually happens.
You can't march in fucking pride parades and then go on national television and say you think the reason democrats lost is because they've moved too far left on trans rights issues by saying kids should be able to play sports with their friends.
You cannot say you think we need to move towards greener energy and take money from oil companies.
You cannot say you want everyone to have affordable healthcare while saying Medicare for All, a public option, or even just forcing private insurance companies to be not-for-profit companies is too pie in the sky.
You cannot tell people to "vote blue no matter who" while endorsing a deeply unpopular sexual harasser who lost the primary to the candidate you didn't like. They did this with AOC. They did this with Mamdani. They will continue to fucking do it.
You can't refuse to hold a presidential primary only to then watch your presumptive candidate have a sundowning dementia episode on live television during a nationally televised debate that was so severe his wife thought he was having a stroke (according to her own book), scramble to get a new candidate that no one got to vote for through a democratic primary (because your party refused to have one), and then have the audacity to tell people to "vote blue no matter who".
You cannot say you're the resistance and then immediately give republicans whatever they want every single time you have any leverage whatsoever.
You cannot say you are pro-union while saying that a $15 minimum wage is too much and would bankrupt companies who are constantly reporting record profits. And you say this for so long that a $15 minimum wage is no longer high enough to provide a minimum to survive.
You cannot say you understand the housing crisis and will build more homes while completely ignoring that private equity firms are buying all of the most affordable ones.
You cannot say you think climate change is a serious and existential threat while arguing that tech billionaires should be allowed to build data centers over our largest fresh water reservoir with zero oversight or regulation.
You cannot say that you understand people are struggling while constantly pointing out that covid-driven inflation under Biden was lower than other countries so you should all be fucking grateful and stop complaining that you can't afford food or heat.
You cannot say "vote blue no matter who" while crushing any potential candidates to the left of you with more ferocity than you've ever shown towards literal Nazis and fascists.
You cannot critique ICE while also saying there's a crisis at the border (there isn't) because it's easier to go along with republican talking points than seem weak on immigration.
The democratic party wants to be able to do all of these things at once which is why they have no party platform, stand for nothing, and will continue to fucking lose.
