Meet the crew
I Don’t Want to Write This Post
But let’s pull the big kid pants on and give it a go.
I’m going to preface this by saying that I’ve been doing a fair amount of active work (though less lately) in the UK poetry and spoken word scene on safeguarding for something like ten years. I used that experience to help write safeguarding guidelines (based off the Edinburgh Horror Festival’s guidelines) for a couple of organisations. I’ve helped raise profiles of serial abusers, stalkers, and paedophiles to the consciousness of our community, as well as encouraging discussions about how and when to step in... instead of just applying Missing Stair principles. And I help maintain networks that work to ensure that the kind of person who turns up to poetry events and is T.R.A.S.H (transphobic, racist, ableist, sexist, and/ or homophobic... a non-exclusive list of cyst-like behaviour which also includes creeping on vulnerable people) is well-known among other promoters.
This has proved especially useful when we started running more and more events online, and problematic folk were no longer confined by geography. We have to be pretty hardline about that.
And I’ve also borne witness to a lot of people who, after telling me the nasty things they endured or encountered, decided not to go any further. They didn’t want to make a fuss, or get into trouble. And when I say “a lot”, even one is too many, but it’s a great deal more than that.
So this is all to say that, not only do I know what a variety of Unpleasant People look like in communities, but I also know which early warning signs blossom into more concerning behaviour. And yet still I’m generally minded to give people the benefit of the doubt.
So now we come to the crux of the matter: the fact that I’ve found myself increasingly involved in efforts to keep the audiodrama community (which is even more online, and even more likely to involve vulnerable – especially very young – people in unsupervised scenarios) safer. And the fact that we’ve recently come across someone who’s been very prone to making use of people (time, effort, talent, sympathy, patience) and then abandoning them.
First of all, we thought that maybe Theo (as he was known then) was just brash, naïve, and a bit flaky. But the more we looked into it, after a couple of us started paying attention to our feelings of unease, the bigger the pattern got. And the more we asked, the more people we found had been hurt, from mild annoyance and inconvenience, to much deeper upset, or professional mistreatment.
We took our time, did our due diligence, talked to a LOT of people, gathered as much evidence as we could, and put what was safe to share (redacted where appropriate – which was a lot of places) into a surprisingly long dossier. You can see it here:
From beginners to full-time professional creators, from visual artists to composers to audio engineers to voice actors, from people in their forties all the way down to people in their early teens (the youngest person we’ve come across so far is apparently 13), the thing these folk have in common is someone known variously as Theodore (Theo) Powers, Vincent Whittman, Jack O’Constellations, Nigel, and (more recently): Frankie, v0xt3kk, and Tracey, to name a few.
We’re not telling anyone who reads this to do anything. We’re advising people to be wary about getting into new projects with him. And we’re advising him – if he chooses to read this – to engage with some key changes to his behaviour, in order to improve his professionalism... and thereby the experiences of the people around him.
Creating should be fun. It’s dangerous enough to pour your heart and soul out into creative output, let alone to share it, flirt with that heady risk of Being Perceived, so it’s important to proactively keep the environment in which you create as safe as possible. Collaborating should be fun. It’s dangerous enough to pour your heart and soul out into the hearts of other people, let alone to let them carry it in their hands and take responsibility for it coming to life, so it’s important to proactively keep the environment in which you collaborate as safe as possible.
We don’t believe that Vincent/ Theo/ Frankie/ Jack/ v0xt3kk, etc., have put enough work into being safe to create and collaborate with. We hope to see that change with time.
The wonderful @doctorloup has written a great post on this that covers ground I neglected above.

Oh hello there! It’s me, your favorite hot mess writer and voice actor!
Since season 2 has come to an end, it is time we open up for our Q&A!!
So hello, do YOU🫵 have any questions about this universe, the production, the characters or even bring back another fuck, marry, kill to spice it all up. Then drop a comment and we will give you an answer!
The due date for bringing in your lovely questions is the 25th of January!
Ask away!
Hey everyone!
First of all, thank you for more than 1K followers of our show! It is beyond our wildest imagination!
Secondly, Season 2 has just come to an end and with that, we are slowly beginning our preparations for season 3.
In this break we also have to wait a tad longer before returning since our lovely Jay (Malakai) and Luke (Christen) are having their top surgery in December, so we will give them time to rest up.
We will be back in your ears again in 2026!
This week, we wanted to highlight @surceasepod
Surcease is a weekly, queer, horror anthology podcast in which… Ellias Short has been put on the task to digitize current patient files of the inhabitants of Sunshine Valley Mental Institution, and to his dismay, he is forced to work with none other than Kairo Timor, the newcomer who stole his dream job from right under his nose. As the piles of casefiles stack up, and the more mysterious disappearances happen at Sunshine Valley, they start to wonder if everything is as it seems? Or they have just gone mad
I (Doodles) feature in Surcease as a guest Voice Actor, so if you want to hear more of me, you can find it there, along with other great VAs :D

Who can you trust when everyone seems to be out to get you? Can you trust even your best friend to be who they say they are?
The gang find themselves in possession of some horrific VHS tapes, depicting their last moments on this earth…
We have prepared a 5 episode S2 finale, it involves our largest cast to date, with a surprise collab!
With that, we have had to admit this was more of a challenge than first assumed, so we will be switching over to a biweekly (every second Sunday) schedule, to assure the best result for you all.
We have to drop the first of 5 episodes this Sunday!
Be ready to be spooked! 👻

does anyone have any audio drama recommendations that have prominent characters that are trans men/masc? (That aren’t Hello from the Hallowoods, The Silt Verses, or Camp Here and There)
Heartglass recently started releasing (ep 2 coming tomorrow), and one of the MCs, Allan Coleman, is a trans man. Allan is one of a trio of characters trapped in a strange version of hell, trying to make the best of his afterlife by working in an ice cream shop. (I’m Allan’s VA, and I’m also transmasc).
Our At the Bottom of the Garden does.
It’s a fake non-fiction podcast a guy is making about his family, specifically his great, great aunt that is also slow-burn folk horror. Aidan’s explicitly, talked-about-on-screen trans, with that playing an important part in his story, though probably not in the way most people’d expect.
…actually, Arcadia, CA does too, in that case a supporting character/love interest/antagonist.
That one is YA suburban fantasy /also/ about fairies.
(look, i know what i like, & it’s trans characters and fairies, ok?)
HI HELLO ME I DO ok let's do this
Trans Masc Representation in Audio Fiction
Spirit Box Radio by @hangingslothcentral - so Eira who writes, sound designs, composes and performs all the Hanging Sloth shows is a trans guy, but also SBR's protag is explicitly a trans guy. The other shows: Not Quite Dead and Remnants don't explicitly have trans male protags but are entirely voiced by Eira. Clockwork Bird is fun for gender reasons in the same way Frankenstein is. Go listen!
@eelerschoice ! Is both written by a trans person, Dr Lou Sutcliffe, and one of its leads is our beloved B Narr, who you may know from The Silt Verses. Also it's a creepy ocean horror story. What's not to love!
@theholmwoodfoundation is both co-written by a trans man, Fio Trethewey, AND has a major character who is a trans man - namely Van Helsing's grandson, which is delightful to me. Also Mina Harker is possessing a trans woman and they're both being lovely about it, so bonus points.
@nightshiftpodcast has a lead who is a queer man played by a trans man, and the story is an urban fantasy about his enemies to lovers romance with a guy who is essentially the PR man for urban fantasy Meta. It's so much and I love it so much god bless.
Love and Luck by Passer Vulpes productions is a love story between two men, one of whom is played by a trans man and wheelchair user. It's a very sweet magical realist / light urban fantasy about the queer community in Melbourne, Australia. Extra points because the two leads are played by irl husbands Lee Davis-Thalbourne and Erin Kyan, which is charming to me.
Kind of a deep cut but The Blood Crow Stories Season 2 is a wild west horror story that stars a trans man and it makes me really happy listening to a wild west 1800s setting where a badass outlaw lady gives a guy rags for his monthly bleed without making a big deal of it.
Moonbase Theta Out by @monkeymanproductions has a morally grey (french!) trans guy antagonist from S2 onwards and it's like, A Whole Thing. Also in general a buttload of excellent queer rep including the show's leads from S1, a person who figures out they're non binary, and their husband.
@iriscasefiles stars Brian Jeeter, one of the core cast of a motley crew of space rebels and outlaws, he's a xenolinguistics specialist married to a non-binary alien called Krejjh, it's delightful, he's delightful, they're currently releasing their third and final season!
@dosafteryou is a fucked up and toxic love story between a trans guy and essentially a god? It is tasty and terrifying and very fun, bonus points for being written by a trans guy too, about out to David Orion.
@folxlorepod is a smorgasbord anthology of queer horror stories, including episodes with trans masc protagonists. It's generally full of queer and trans joy and also wrath, and is made by a queer and trans team. You should check it out!
There are more but I am currently at a train station so can't do proper research. I think Evelyn Glass in @pasitheapowder is trans? And the very definition of haunting the narrative. Also I'm sure The Pilgrimage Saga by @starstrider-productions must have a trans dude protag but I cannot remember (it definitely has one of my favourite trans women in all of fiction.) I'm also sure @innbetween has trans guy protags but I cannot remember which series. I suspect The Gospel of Haven has a trans guy protag too but needs more research.
One thing that makes me sad is I can't think of shows with trans guys of colour as protags. I'm sure they exist, hopefully folk can recommend some.
Happy listening!
(Also a heads up that whilst a popular fanon for the eldritch demon John Doe in Malevolent is that he's a trans man, the creator has explicitly clarified that none of the show's protagonists are textually queer or trans. Still, if you want to have fun Supernatural-style, you absolutely can.)
@surceasepod has one transmasc main character (who i love so very much) as well as one cisgender character that i'm pretty sure is played by a trans guy and a couple of more minor characters who are trans men (either heavily implied to be dead or just showing up for one episode) they might have more i don't know
@technicallyeldritch in our main cast (all 4 played by trans people) we have: Ellias who is a cis man, but gay (played by a none binary person), Kairo who is Intersex and pansexual (played by a trans masc person), Malakai who is a trans man and Bi (played by a trans man) and Christen who is none binary (played by a trans man)
There is many minor and more major trans characters in the show, including Ruby grace that is a trans woman and Conrad who is a trans man.
We pride ourselves on having a queer and trans crew, which includes trans actors all over the spectrum.
But thank you to everyone who recommended us in this thread!

MORE TO ADD !
@hinaypod ; transmasc character with special episodes and cool story! hi nay is also queer BIPOC story in general. it's horror but it's wholesome horror, if it makes sense.
@surceasepod is mostly transmasc cast and crew with many transmasc characters! it is anthology-to-plot horror, deals a lot with mental illnesses as it takes place in mental institute.
@asbestos4president is a comedy of transmascs (afaik? please confirm if true. they're trans-something) and I have deemed it the best comedy out there (sorry to other comedies)
I can name more but these are the ones that pop up to my name (except the ones already mentioned in these posts so far)
Listen to @surceasepod
This will never not be funny
I totally didn’t forget to post these for a while, hush now! Take this lil sweet horror sandwich!

Christen and Malakai from @surceasepod my beloved <3 their friendship means everything to me
Malakai is the only one allowed to touch Cristen's wheelchair. Itd be covered in spikes if it wasnt for the purpose of this 1 drawing
Doodles being behind the first ever Christen and Malakai fanart, was all we could have ever wanted
Ever heard of @surceasepod ?Well i drew the 4 main characters as toys. Dont ask why. You had to be there (the discord server)
We got: Ellias as a cursed porcelaon doll, Kairp as Blahaj, Malakai as a ken doll and Christen as a worm on a strinh
Fun details: kairo has bleach stains like his vitiligo abd Christen's string has been cut cuz amputee :]
Can’t get enough of Doodles art!
Simply obsessed!
