social media has made the internet so...local, and made everyone in your real life so connected,to the point that the internet doesn't feel as anonymous as it used to. 10-15 years ago when we all started going online, you had maybe one friend you could connect with on some obscure online game, or a ghetto ass instant messaging program, and that was really it, but you still got a kick out of it! because that was the first instance you had of this ‘other’ online version of you that could be whatever you wanted, Cause that dinky messenger system didn't possess this digital-ironclad permanent facebook-encyclopedia of your life, that other people could access whenever. It was A picture, and A status you could write (funnily enough though we still managed to make asses out of ourselves with just that LOL) But I guess the point i'm trying to make is that it's strange that we have to go out of our way to find something that noone knows us on. I can make a tumblr with a random made up name, and ‘heart’ and post everything I like and truly feel, without any worry about how it'll make me look. It's very freeing, and i’m glad we still have that to some degree.
