how do u tell the difference between executive dysfunction, procrastination, and laziness bc fuck idk how to
Idk if you were actually looking for an answer but I talk about this with my therapist a lot so heres his wisdom:
Laziness=You don't want to do a task, so you choose not to, and you're fine with that. You either dont care if it gets done or you figure someone else will do it.
Procrastination=You want to do the task, but you put it off because it seems difficult/boring/time consuming.
Executive dysfunction=You want to do the task, and intend to at that very moment. There is no significant reason not to, but you can't because your brain is having difficulty transitioning between activities.
The key difference, he points out, is that if you experience guilt or shame from not doing it, then it's NOT laziness, because those feelings indicate, on some level, a desire to complete the task.
The latter two have more overlap imo, but for myself, I think of it as whether you are having trouble confronting the task itself, or just the transition.
An excellent explanation!

How to grow baby succulents from only leaves!
Growing new succulents from the ones you already have is super easy- simply twist a few leaves off of the mother plant (or use already fallen leaves), let them dry and callous over for a few days to avoid rot then place on soil. Spritz with water every 3 or so days and youâll see progress like mine above in around 3 months- be patient!

HOW TO APPROACH CLASSES A guide to getting the most out of your classes and lectures
By Eintsein
Design inspired by this post by @journalsanctuary
Some quick batch reactor problems from environmental chemistry I am 2.5 weeks into the new semester and I think Iâm starting to finally get into a rhythm and make a weekly routine. I donât really like my class schedule everything is too spread out, but Iâm working on making sure I spend my hour breaks productively.
How do you spend your time between classes?
reblog this if youâre a university level studyblr
most of the ones i follow are high school level and i need more people my own age/education level!
Penguins attend classes on the first day of school at the University of Antarctica, 2007
Update: itâs 2019, the University of Antarctica has melted
Remember when I said something about updating every day and then didn't? Sorry but summer school has been so crazy its hard to post. But heres the true engineering asthetic engineering paper (which i couldnt stand bc I found it hideous freshmen year and now find lowkey sophisticated) with bad handwiting next to my teachers notes who has even worse handwriting. I swear its a prerec for engineering teachers to have ugly penmanship. Yesterday I studied Statics in the library from 11am to 11pm. I had a pizza delivered to me and everything so I didn't need to a take break that requiered me to change locations. And i think i rocked my statics test! Yay! But today i was suppose to prep for my Environmental Engineering (Water 1) test. But i was so burnt out I didnt hit the grind until 4pm. Which is bad, bad, bad i know!!! I made a B on my first test by some merical and now im getting over confident. But funny story about my first test: I literally blacked out when I went to turn in my test. Like full on collapsed uncontious infront of him. My professor made me sit in the classroom a good 15min afterwords bc i was so shakey. This is all to say TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF WHEN STUDYING!!! I made some mistakes i didnt eat much the day before or the morning of the test, i didnt fall asleep until 4am putting me at 2.5 hours of sleep (that was more due to anxiety), and i didnt make an effort or hydrate at all throughout the week. So dont be me actually take care of yourself that means:
HYDRATE
EAT
STREACH
SLEEP
HUMAN INTERACTION
Dont cut yourself off from the world!!! I seriously learned my lesson and prioritized my health better this week. And my anxiety is so much better (aside from the anxiety im experiencing bc of my procrastination). So seriously if your browsing tumblr on a study break right now get up and touch your toes, i dont care whoes watching, get your blood moving before you get petrified in your chair and drink some water! đŠ
Sloppy enginnering notes are my asthetic. I know it's been a hot minute since I've posted, but the spring semester was a blur and i took a break from most social medias. Despite this wonderful community tumblr was more of a distraction than anything. But I'm letting myself on since I'm in summer courses. I'm currently taking Statics and Environmental Engineering 1 but we call it water 1 for short because theres about 5 classes in my program with environmental engineering in the title. Im seriously lacking motivation this summer and its only day three of the semester. I really need to dig in and get serious bc summer classes are always really hard for me since you have learn so much in 4 weeks. And this is my first time taking classes with out any friends or familer people I can study with/have as an accountability partner, so everything is super dependent on my motivation. So i decided to start posting again as a way to document my progress and hold myself accountable.
Today i took a longer break for lunch than I initally planned. That happens though.
I have a goal of doing 6 Statics problems which is ambitions bc my indurence the past two days has left me at solving 3 before I walk away from it. And studying for my Water 1 exam I have Friday. The pictures i posted is of my work for half of a practice problems and a quickn outline I threw together as a brain dump to get my wits anout me and make sure I understand all the concepts. I have a goal of doing at least 3 more Water 1 problems before i go to the gym tonight. Wish me luck!
Can i get a step by step on how to do this?
So far for me itâs been something like:
1. Become aware of how and when you tearing yourself down.
2. Now that you can catch yourself doing it. Offer counters to the negative self talk. A really useful thing I read was to talk to yourself almost the way you would child. Gentle and patient. Even when they fuck up.
3. Take time to celebrate your small accomplishments. Youâve been attacking yourself for every little mistake. Apply that same fervor to the positive things in your life. Did the dishes even though you didnât want to? Fuck yeah! Got up and took shower? YES!!! You are taking positive steps to feeling better. Celebrate it.
4. Make lists of things youâre good at/ like about yourself. The first time I did this the only two things in my list weâre that I liked my hair and I had good friends. It was start.
5. Donât beat yourself up if you screw up steps 1-4. Itâs counter productive. When I catch myself calling my self stupid for some mistake or other my response now is,âWe donât talk to ourselves like that anymore. Whatâs something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.â
Most of the time that seems to work. Not always. But more and more Everytime.
I hope any of that made sense.
oh my goodness there are instructions!!
Omg I was doing this without knowing
