the most helpful thing i have ever seen from neurodivergent internet spaces is “THERE ARE OTHER TIMES OF DAY TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH”. this has genuinely saved me from executive dysfunction spirals so many times.

soon may the wellerman come
your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
Me: desperately trying to avoid a migraine over the next few days by getting as much sleep as possible.
My ADHD at 11:45pm when I’ve got shit to do first thing in the morning because it’s fucking Christmas: pst, hey.
Me: …
ADHD: You know that plot hole you’ve been stuck on for over a year?
Me: …
ADHD: wouldn’t it be wild if you suddenly figured out how to fix it AND had the motivation to work on it.
Me: …
Me: God fucking dammit.
Everyone always talks about adhd and 100+ tabs in a browser, but no one talks about all the saved posts on tumblr we save for future reference that we never look at either
Having ADHD is like,,, I need a new hyperfixation to feel normal but if I get a new hyperfixation I won’t be able to focus on sorting my life out. So I guess I’m just stuck here
Well the Bluesky discussion has, at least in my corner, specifically turned to ADHD meds and accommodations and now I have multiple people trying to tell me that the idea that people without ADHD abuse these drugs is totally made up and I'm just blindly believing things I saw on TikTok (an app I don't use, I know about the TikTok shit from other people with ADHD discussing it and from news articles). Yeah, it's totally just invented by us meanie bear ADHD gatekeepers with "internalized ableism" that people abuse a drug that has....multiple common street names that you would know if you spend any amount of time around people who use recreational drugs
I didn’t realize/consider ADHD was a disability until I was in my 20’s. I was diagnosed when I was 7 years old. Isn’t it wild that the conversation around ADHD starts and stops with it being the “can’t pay attention disorder”? Instead of the “lays in paralyzing fear because I don’t know where to start that neurotypicals categorize as laziness”? Instead of “I pick up on anything and everything around me that other people don’t that neurotypicals categorize as distraction”? Instead of “making eye contact is not only painful at times as well as I cannot understand what you’re saying if im looking you in the eyes that neurotypicals categorize as rudeness”? Instead of “my brain works too fast for my body to catch up with so things like writing may take me longer that neurotypicals categorize as stupidity”? I could go on and on.
Isn’t it wild that one of the most common disabilities is not actually seen as a disability, but rather as an annoyance to people without said disability?
I LOVE it when people associate me with my favourite characters or special interests like yes that character is me!!!
