The Things We Never Finish
There is something strangely comforting about unfinished things.
A bookmark resting halfway through a novel. A sketch that stopped after only a few lines. A letter never sent. A scarf with the knitting needles still tucked inside.
For a long time I thought unfinished meant abandoned.
Now I'm not so sure.
Some ideas simply need longer seasons. They sit quietly in a drawer until we become the person who can continue them.
Creativity doesn't always disappear when we stop making things. Sometimes it is only waiting for the pressure to leave the room.
I've noticed that my best ideas rarely arrive while I'm searching for them. They appear while washing dishes, walking home, watering plants, or staring out of a train window.
As if imagination prefers open doors rather than deadlines.
Maybe we don't lose our creative voice as often as we think.
Sometimes it just becomes impossible to hear beneath all the noise.
