"Oh no ––– one more drink and you’ll have to call in the calvary to escort me back to my dorm. It’s in everyone’s best interest if I don’t. You on the other hand, what’re you drinking?”
“Because I so need lessons from you on how to have fun.”
"Oy, knock off that tone. C’mon.”
“hey, you try putting together a patrol schedule for prefects. i mean it, seriously please save me from the masses?”
Septima rolled her eyes as she tugged on Lily’s hand, “The only help I can offer is erasing my name from the bathroom rotation. I mean, honestly, why is it always me dealing with the crying girls? Not to mention the boys trying to get away with smoking before Myrtle tattles on ‘em.”
“– Have you always been this pushy?”
Her giggle was innocent and whiskey fueled as she lifted his arm up in order to ｓｐｉｎ beneath it. If it weren’t for the charm that silenced the room to the outside world the party surely would’ve been busted by now. “Oh, c’mon ––– I’m assertive. Me mum always said it was endearing.”
"I’m president of the arithmancy club, if I have to tell you to live a little? You have ｂｉｇｇｅｒ problems. C’mon, it’s not so bad.”
marlene had only heard bits and pieces of what occurred between septima and severus, although it was enough to get her blood boiling. she desperately wanted to reach out to her cousin but she had never been good at consoling people during rough times, mainly because she couldn’t even begin deal with her own feelings, much less someone else’s. so she opted to giving comfort to septima in her own way, one that septima should have seen coming since the beginning.
“oh, my dearest septima !” marlene cooed as she entered the hufflepuff common room and flopped down next to her cousin on the couch, dramatically engulfing her in her embrace. “you won’t believe what i have in store for you tonight. i’ll give you a hint ––– it includes me, you and my entire stash of alcohol. oh, and you’re not allowed to say no !” she raised her eyebrows expectantly, moving to reveal the several bottles hidden in the small bag slung over her shoulder. “there’s also a chance i might already be slightly buzzed.”

The vegetation in the Hufflepuff Basement was getting a bit out of hand, there wasn’t a single cushion on any sofa that would leave you ｕｎｔｏｕｃｈｅｄ by the plants. Leaves and vines tickled at the back of her neck as she sat with her knees pulled to her chest and a textbook across her lap. She wasn’t sure who she trying to fool with her homework splayed out all around her when she knew for a fact that ｐｒｏｄｕｃｔｉｖｉｔｙ was a thing of the past. There was much more important things at hand. Like boys––and Death Eaters invading the school––and getting attacked by a hook nosed Slytherin that hadn’t heard of a shower. You know, just teenage things.
"Marls Barls,” she sang before bracing herself at the incoming body flying her way. Septima could smell the alcohol on her before she even went on her tangent, scrunching her small features. “A chance? You smell like a ｖｉｃｔｏｒｙ party. It’s giving me flashbacks of when you pulled me on top of a table to dance and instead I hurled on James Potter’s head,” she shivered at the recollection of pure embarrassment, if it weren’t for the amount of vodka in her system that night she might’ve ｋｅｅｌｅｄ over and died right then and there. “As promising as that sounds,” she began with sarcasm dripping off the words, “I really don’t feel like hiding in a dark, cobweb infested corner of the castle and having to deal with worrying about getting caught and keeping my stomach contents inside of my body all at the same time.”
time didn’t appear to pass as he held her, sheltered her from harsh realities and the cards she’d been dealt with that night. his head rested atop hers and a sullen sigh slipped past his lips– a sigh that acknowledged that he’d let her down, that he hadn’t been there when she needed him. “hm?” concern set deep onto his features as his eyes met hers, dark and comforting in a stark contrast to his own cerulean hues. “you want to leave?” he asked carefully, stroking back her hair, unsure whether it was the best idea. she hadn’t allowed him to clean the blood from her face or restore her to some kind of order and her current state was gasp-worthy. but it wasn’t relevant, benjy reminded himself as his fingers laced between hers, what she wanted was far more important. “where’d you want to go?”
Her irises dropped in avoidance, the warmth of his familiar hand enveloping her much smaller one and she secured it with a tight squeeze. The pain had mostly settled. “I just––” she began, her voice cracking. “Lily, James, Sirius ... they all have this look on their faces.” The humiliation she felt was surreal and the pitiful stares did nothing but fuel it. “They’ll ask if I’m okay,” her eyes met his, “and I really don’t want toｌｉｅ to them.” She didn’t know what to say to them, what was there to say? But it was different with Benjy, it had always been different. He was her constant, through and through. “Anywhere ｎｏｔ here,” she plead in a small voice, searching his eyes desperately.

benjy merely raised an eyebrow at her quip, biting his tongue to hold back the retort brewing. after the events of that night, he felt like he owed her a comment at his expense. his hand practically itched at his side, wanting to reach out for her but feeling as though it wasn’t his place to do so. a heavy sigh left him as burrowed back into his chest, his arms enclosing her in his warm embrace and winding around her torso. “it’s gonna be fine,” he mumbled into her hair, unsure what else would provide her with solace. her boyfriend perhaps, the thought left a bitter taste on his tongue. “the others will be back soon, you can see sirius.”
Unsure if it was the ｓｅｒｅｎｉｔｙ of knowing he couldn’t see her expression as she was tucked against him or the untethering of nothing more than a child, a low and unsteady breath rattled from her lungs and her fingertips curled into his back. The lower tier of her lips began to quiver and she choked back the tears she resented herself for having. You’re not going to cry, she silently said to herself, don’t do this to him. If there was a way to tell someone I love you without the use of words, this ｅｘｅｍｐｌｉｆｉｅｄ it. Her knees wobbled, hands curving down the indents of his back that she’d memorized with ease. The idea that this moment couldn’t last forever was incomprehensible ––– if Benjy Fenwick’s coiled arms were the only thing life allotted her, she’d be okay with that. He was stronger than every bad thing hiding inside of her. The ｂｏｉｓｔｅｒｏｕｓ common room commotion flooded into the dorm and she withdrew her head to look at him with swollen eyes. “Can we go?” Her voice was soft, large eyes flickering over either of his with her plea.
Damien hadn’t slept a wink the previous night. Too exhausted to go to classes the next day, he was instead in a back corner of the library. It wasn’t like Damien came here to study- he simply liked the isolation. No one would expect for him to be at the library so no one ever bothered him. He was leaning back in his chair, absentmindedly sketching on a parchment when he saw her taking out a book from one of the nearby shelves. Suddenly feeling a little more awake, a tired grin flashed across his lips, “Haven’t seen you in a while.”

Characteristically, Septima was over prepared for testing, almost ｏｂｎｏｘｉｏｕｓｌｙ so. What she wasn’t prepared for was extraordinary circumstances that lead to migraines and gut wrenching agony at her decision to expedite her classes by taking double the load. An attack on the school ––– an attack on ｈｅｒ, she nearly forgot what the world looked like beyond the castle walls. An all too familiar voice sliced through her thought process, brown tendrils permeating across her back as she spun her head. Damien Avery. “There’s a reason for that,” she chimed in a faux sing-song voice, tossing the large textbook on the desk. The acoustics of the library caused the contact of the leather bound book to the table to rattle loud enough that she feared Irma Pince might have her head at any moment. “Why aren’t you in class? I am a ｐｒｅｆｅｃｔ, you know.”

“Lily Potter? You’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. Anyways ––– that’s entirelyｎｏｔ fair. Lily’s my best friend. Marlene is family. Though I think Marlene would cause less physical and emotional damage for not picking her, we’ll go with Evans.”
a frown creased his features at her barely audible apologies, shouldn’t it be him that ought to be apologising for not being there when she needed him? a sigh of contentment escaped his lips as hers met his skin, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end at the thought. it was terribly hard to think straight with the scent of her hair intoxicating him in such a manner. shifting upwards, one of his hands rested against her cheek as the other tentatively explored her face to see the damage done in an attempt to distract himself. “we should get you cleaned up,” he said softly, untangling himself from her to sit at the side of the bed, his thumb still stroking along her skin. “yeah?”
As he studied her injuries, she studied his eyes. She still saw theｕｎｂｌｏｏｍｅｄ little boy in his face. It used to be easier ––– hormones mixed with a looming war tended to stir the pot. She sat up as he did, burying her bruises and shielding them with a sarcastic quip, “Yeah, I know how you are about dirtying your sheets.” As she stood up and escaped the protective and secure hold of Benjy Fenwick, all the problems that had been reduced to nothing swiftly resurfaced. James, Lily, Sirius ––– ｗｈｅｒｅ were they? She tried to stop her mind from wandering to the worst-case scenario and reached out for him, grabbing a fistful of his jumper and pulling herself into him with hunger for the comfort he was capable of washing over her.
he shook his head, “don’t worry. i was just kidding.” sirius could tell the despite the time spent on the broom, she still wasn’t having any part of it. “awe, the poor squid. he’s not half bad.” he joked with her, hoping that it would help her with being in the air. “but if that was your sneaky little way of asking me to go skinny dipping with you, you can count me in,” he teased her, chuckling.
"You said that ｗａｙ too fast –––– lots of experience?” Septima inquired, shifting her head on his shoulder to glance up while raising a skeptical brow. Her eyes immediately fell on his lips and trailed their way up to study his features, a hand lifting from his in order to cup his jawline and turn his head in her direction. Without any warning she pushed forward to connect their lips and she was no longer sure if the turning in her stomach was solely due to the flight, her fingers curling into his neck as she pushed in even closer.
