Ā You and Jihoon had been dating for almost two years. Of course your relationship wasnāt perfect but you were completely supportive of his career. You knew how hard he worked and how much dedication he put into his dream. You were so proud of him, but a part of you wished you could be with him every step of the way.Ā
Recently, Jihoon invited you to Seventeenās comeback showcase. You checked your schedule and you were disappointed to see that you had a final exam that day.Ā
āAhh, I wonāt be able to see you anytime soon due to promotions. This was our only chance.ā Jihoon sighed through the phone which only made your heart ache.Ā
āIām sorry love.ā You felt terrible.

You check the time, you had literally 10 minutes to make it to the showcase on time. You didnāt hesitate to run off without bidding your friend goodbye.Ā
You swore youāve never ran and caught a taxi so fast in your life. The thought of seeing Jihoon made your heart flutter. This would be the first time in a month that youād be able to see him.
You havenāt really had an opportunity to see him due to his preparations for this comeback. However, every moment he had free, he would spend it on calling you or texting you.Ā But that didnāt suffice for the hugs and kisses that you missed so much.
Finally arriving at the showcase venue, you hope that you havenāt missed anything. Luckily, you make it in time.
As Seventeen begin to perform their stages, your eyes are locked on Jihoon. He had no idea you were even there. You were able to see all the energy and effort he put into his performances. He was focused on every move he made. You were more than proud of him.
All of their performances leaded up to their title track, which you anticipated. Seventeen looked so in sync and you can definitely see all the nights of hard work pay off.
Once the show came to an end, you quickly pulled your phone to text Seokmin that you were there:
you: Hey! I came but donāt tell Jihoon! I want to surprise him, is there a way you guys can distract him?
seokmin: yeah, im on it! iāll let staff know youāre coming
You smile and make your way backstage. You were so excited to see Jihoon again. You were so excited to be with him again.Ā
As soon as the staff recognize you, one of them guide you towards the rest of Seventeen.
You cautiously walk up to them, not spotting Jihoon.Ā ā_____! Weāve missed you so much!ā Chan sees you first and quickly envelopes you into a hug. He was soon followed by the rest of the members.Ā
āI missed you guys too! You guys did amazing! The song, the choreography, everything was perfect.ā
"Seokmin took Jihoon to the snack bar because apparently he needs help carrying snacks?ā Hansol informed you and you only laugh.Ā
āI told him to distract him while I made my way back here.āĀ
ā_______?ā You quickly turn around to meet the eyes that youāve missed so much.Ā āYou came?ā Jihoon was standing next to Seokmin, who was smiling widely at the both of you. Jihoonās face lit up and thatās the reaction you wanted. You wanted to see his beautiful smile again, in person.
Jihoon slowly walks up to you and you meet him half way.Ā āOf course I would come.āĀ He pulls you into a hug and suddenly everyone disappeared. It was as if you and him were the only ones in the room.Ā
After a whole month of not seeing Jihoon, you were finally able to hug him again.
āI missed you so much.ā He mumbled into your hair as you hold him tightly.Ā āI missed you most.ā You whisper to where only he heard.Ā
āImpossible.ā He chuckled as he pulled away to study the face he missed so much.

You figured he was most likely busy practicing for an upcoming comeback. Regardless, you still went out of your way to pick up lunch boxes for the hard working boys of Seventeen.

You thought to yourself as you continued your way over to the Pledis building. Soonyoung was forgetful sometimes so you understood. Especially with all the pressure heās been going through for this new album. Maybe he needed to see you so he could lighten up.Ā
Finally arriving, you walk in the building to be greeted by staff.Ā āHello!ā You greeted everyone before explaining what you were doing there. Everyone at the company was really nice, from the trainees to the staff. They all made you feel super welcomed.
You showed your way upstairs to the practice room, already knowing the ropes around the place. Youāve brought the boys food and snacks plenty of times before. You heard music coming from the room at the end of the hall. So you slowly make your way down the hallway, trying not to shake the food anymore than you already had.Ā
The music starts to end, the closer you get. Your heart starts to race and as crazy as it sounds, you were so excited to see Soonyoung. Despite the fact that the both of you had been dating for more than two years, every time you got a chance to see him, it made you so happy.Ā
You peek into the room with a smile on your face. You stay hidden behind a crack in the door, searching for your boyfriend. Once you spot him, your smile fades. He looked so upset and tired as sweat dripped down his face.Ā
Everyone was panting, trying to catch their breaths. The vibe in the room seemed so tense, youāve never seen them like this before.
āHyung, are you sure you want to do this?ā Chan looks up at Soonyoung from his position on the floor.Ā

You furrow your eyebrows, curiously listening to the conversation that obviously upsets Soonyoung.Ā

At this point you wanted to run in there and ask them what was going on. But you figured they needed their space.Ā

Your heart dropped. Those words Soonyoung spoke, broke your heart into pieces. How could he say something so cold, so normally?Ā
You dropped the bags of food with a loud thud as a tear left your eye. All thirteen boys snapped their heads in your direction. They all met your pained eyes, who were only locked with Soonyoungās.Ā
āY/N....ā He whispered, making his way over to you.Ā
āDonāt.ā You backed away before turing around and rushing down the hall.Ā
The rest of Seventeen were left dumbfounded in the practice room, dying to know what possible explanation Soonyoung would tell you.Ā
You were able to beat Soonyoung to the elevator, closing the doors before he could stop you. In that moment, you wanted the elevator doors to never open. You wish you couldāve just stayed in that elevator forever. How could Soonyoung just want to throw away 2 years so easily? How could he hurt you?
Before the elevator doors open, you wipe the never ending tears from your face. To your surprise, Soonyoung wasnāt waiting for you once the doors opened. But you did catch worried looks from the staff that greeted you before.Ā
You made your way outside, pulling your sweater closer to your body. Youāve never felt more pain than the pain that pounded in your chest. You wanted to crawl into your bed and never see Soonyoung again.Ā
āY/N!ā Soonyoung calls after you, finally catching up.Ā
You didnāt bother to turn around. However, that didnāt stop him from stopping you. His hand held your shoulder and turned you to face him.Ā
His eyes met your sad ones filled with tears.Ā āY/N....baby...ā His voice cracked as he wiped your tears.Ā
You pushed his hands away, earning a sigh from him.Ā āPlease listen to me.ā He pleaded.
āWhy? So you can break up with me?ā You finally spoke, earning Soonyoungās eyes who were now on the verge of tears.Ā
āItās not like that.ā Soonyoung tried to hold onto your hands, but you pulled away.
āThen what is it like?ā At this point, just looking at Soonyoung made you sad. It made you want to break down in tears.Ā
āThe company talked to me, and they said this relationship canāt progress because they think Iām getting distracted and that my priorities arenāt set straight. I tried telling them that Iām perfectly fine, but they wouldnāt listen. They told me I had to break up with you or -ā
Soonyoung stopped mid-sentence, earning your eyes.Ā āOr what?āĀ
āOr theyād terminate my contract.ā Your heart dropped. A part of you was angry that Soonyoung would choose his career over you. But another part of you knew you were being selfish, that he had 12 other members to think about. This was his dream, this was his passion.Ā
Even you didnāt want him to throw away his career for you. You loved him too much to just let him throw it all away.Ā

That was all you could say. As much as it hurt, you knew you had to let him go. You didnāt want to do anything that could jeopardize his or Seventeenās future.

But you loved him so much and he only loved you more. It was saddening to think that the two years you spent with him, meant nothing to his company.

It was finally summer and you had just graduated from high school. You were set to go into your dream college after your summer vacation. Your parents promised you a trip anywhere you wanted to go, as a reward for your hard work. Youāve always wanted to visit South Korea, so your parents paid for your ticket and you decided to bring one of your best friends along who was Korean and able to help you get around and have a good time with.
ā__________! I found your suitcase!ā Hyejin yelled from the other side of the airport. You look up excitedly, relieved of stress. You thought youād never see your suitcase again. You ran up to where she stood with your precious suitcase. Ā āThank you! Where was it?ā You finally stood in front of her.
āIt was in the wrong place. Itās okay! At least you have it!ā She gave the handle to you and you both make your way out of the airport. āIāve been having such bad luck ever since we got on the plane.ā You look down and question your luck.
āThatās not true!ā Hyejin of course being a good friend, tried to comfort you.
āReally? So the four year old that spilled his juice all over me isnāt bad luck? Not being able to use the restroom on the plane isnāt bad luck?ā You provide enough evidence for Hyejin to shut up.
āSo weāre going to take a taxi to the hotel and then we should go visit my grandparents.ā Hyejin changed the conversation swiftly. Ā āIām so glad you came - ā
You were interrupted by screams which made you and Hyejin turn around quickly. Your first thought was something dangerous, but you were relieved when you saw a swarm of fans surrounding something.
āItās just an idol. Get used to it, that happens a lot in Seoul.ā Hyejin rolls her eyes and continues leading the way out of the airport and you follow.
āI wonder who it is though.ā You spoke.
āSeventeen!ā The fans chant as if they heard your question.
āThereās your answer.ā She scoffed and waved her hand out for a taxi.
As soon as you and Hyejin arrived at the hotel, you changed into a nicer outfit since you were going to meet Hyejinās grandparents. You wore a flowy sun dress and matching sandals.
āOkay, just in case we get lost and you have no way to contact me, remember we always meet back at the hotel.ā Hyejin explained as she put her shoes on. āYes, yes I know.ā You felt like Hyejin was your mother.
āYou ready to go?ā Hyejin stood up and grabbed her purse. āReady as Iāll ever be.ā You grabbed your purse as well and followed Hyejin out of the hotel room.
Hyejin decided to walk and use bus stops to get to her grandparents house so you can see and tour Seoul better. You saw food stands and people smiling. It was a beautiful place, especially with the sun shining on everything, it made you happy. You even forgot about your so-called ābad luckā.
āI shouldāve used the restroom before we left.ā Hyejin stops walking. āItās okay! Look thereās a park with porte-potties!ā You point ahead. Hyejin nods and walks quickly ahead.
She tells you to wait for her and not to wander too far and you nod. You look around and see people jogging, having picnics, flying kites. It was nice.
You look ahead and see the famous Han River. You wanted a better look and began to walk closer. On your way over you hear a voice shout, āWatch out!ā You turn back quickly and see a man on a bike speeding towards you. You throw your self out of the way landing on all fours. But that didnāt stop the biker from falling as well.
You were wearing your dress so your knees were exposed to the concrete and you were all scrapped up. You groan in pain and immediately rethink your bad luck. You sit on your bottom and examine your scrapes.
You look over to the biker and he was also in pain. āAre you okay? Iām sorry.ā his voice was soft and you werenāt expecting him to speak english so fluently. āI think Iāll be okay.ā Your skin was freshly exposed to the air and it stung.
āIām really sorry, I -ā He was interrupted by screams and he quickly turned back. A swarm of fans with cameras were about a good mile away. āOh no.ā He panicked and stood up quickly.
You were confused and looked up at him. āHop on.ā He said quickly. āWhat?ā You asked. You didnāt even know who he was, how were you supposed to hop on his bike. āUnless you want to stay here and be questioned by a ton of girls, I suggest you hop on.ā he swung his leg over his bike and waited for a response.
Like an obedient person, you followed his directions and hopped on the bike. He quickly pedaled through the park and you looked back to see the girls get further and further.
Thatās when you remember Hyejin. She would worry so much if she couldnāt find you. āWait! Where are we going? I have someone waiting for me!ā You shout so he could hear you over the loud city, but he didnāt respond.
He eventually stopped in a wide alley and he was breathing heavily. āIām sorry I had to take you.ā He gets off the bike and waits for you to get off before letting it go. āI would feel bad if I left you there injured. And then all the carats would stop you and ask you questions and maybe even assault you.ā He spoke between breaths as he was still trying to catch his own.
You were no longer angry, understanding his kind intentions, but you were confused. āCarats?ā
He met your eyes and laughed to himself. āMy name is Joshua, and Iām in a - ā He finally looked up and caught your eye. He studied your features and realized how appealing you were, he mesmerized.Ā
āYouāre in a ... ?ā You waited for him to continue.
āIām in a boy group known as Seventeen. Since youāre a foreigner, I trust that you wouldnāt know anything about k-pop, but I could be wrong, we have a lot of international fans.ā He explained and it all made sense to you.
āSo those carats are the fans? I mean, the fans are carats? Like the vegetable?ā You laugh and he joined you. āNo, but letās get you inside and cleaned up, I feel really bad.ā He walks towards the only door in the alley and you follow. āThis is where you live? An idol like you lives here?ā You follow him inside and you see all the stairs you have to walk. āDonāt worry, thereās an elevator.ā Joshua points over to the corner, and youāre relieved.
āAnd yes, I live here with my friends.ā He answers late as the elevator doors close.
You dig into your purse and look for your phone to call Hyejin. However, the deeper you search, you canāt feel your phone at all. You begin to panic and Joshua looks over. āWhatās wrong?ā
āI canāt find my phone.ā You look in your purse and find nothing. āI think I dropped it when I fell.ā You lean back on the elevator wall and take a deep breath. āI really am cursed with bad luck. Ever since I got here in Seoul, nothing but bad luck.ā You rub your temples and Joshua just giggles silently to himself.
āItās not funny! Iām serious!ā You whine.
āIāll let you use my phone.ā Joshua says after he laughs. The elevator doors open and it reveals a big loft. You see a bunch of boys running around and shouting. Once they look over, they all freeze.
āJoshua brought a girl!ā One of them shouts.
āIām sorry, theyāre always like this.ā He sighs and takes your hand which surprises you. He leads you into the loft and into the bathroom. āWait here while I get the first aid kit.ā He walks out leaving the door open and you sit on the toilet seat.
You look at your scrapes, you had forgotten all about them. You were too busy thinking about Joshua. He was so sweet and so kind. You were lucky he spoke English because if he didnāt, youād be struggling.
You hear a knock and look up to see an unfamiliar face. āSo youāre the lucky girl Joshua brought home huh?ā Your cheeks flush because this stranger was just as handsome as Joshua.
āIām Hansol by the way, but they call me Vernon.ā He smiles and you introduce yourself as well. Soon enough, more boys come behind Vernon and take peeks at you.
āGuys! Leave her alone!ā You hear Joshuaās voice come and youāre somewhat happy to hear a familiar voice. The boys clear out and reveal Joshua with the first aid kit. āAgain, I apologize for them. Theyāre very extra.ā He closes the door behind him and opens the kit.
āSo why are you in Seoul?ā He bends down to your level as he opens the kit. āI just graduated high school and it was a reward to travel.ā You explain and Joshua nods understandingly.

You thought itād be easy as pie to go back to the hotel without trouble, but you forgot you were in Seoul. You werenāt in your home country where everything was easy.

Joshua finally turns on a corner and finds a narrow alley. This is the second alley youāve been in today.Ā Ā Joshua turns and puts you against the wall first before putting himself in front of you. Both of your hands were still together and he put himself as close as he could to hide from anyone that could pass by.Ā
You try to catch your breath but Joshuaās chest was in your face. You then look up to get some air, but you end up catching Joshuaās eyes instead.Ā āShhhh...ā He whispers and you swear you melted underneath him.
