How Lance Comes Out to Shiro
They had landed on a planet and Lance and Shiro were assigned to look for some fruit or just something to eat
Lance : Shiro, I've been, uh, I've been meaning to talk to you about something
Shiro, an easy smile on his face : Yeah, of course! As long as it's not about staying relaxed because, I obviously don't know how !
Both laugh as Shiro motions to his white hair, though Lance's is a bit forced
Lance : Um, well, I've been thinking a lot lately, you know ? About my feelings, untangling my thoughts to try and make sense of them
At this point, both of them have stopped walking and are in a clearing. Animals are making noises all around them but neither of them notice
Shiro is listening but not starting directly at Lance, not wanting to make the teen uncomfortable
Lance : I was confused for a while. Like, I would um, I would see a girl, right ? And she'd be pretty hot. But then, a guy would pass by and I'd have the same thought. Of him being hot
Shiro's smile turns into a small, understanding one. He doesn't interrupt, only let's Lance continue as he looked up at the sky, his brows furrowed together and slightly frowning
Lance : I used to think I was just admiring their appearance, you know? That it was fine because it's not like I actually had feelings for the guy
Lance took a pause at that point, keeping his Bayard pointed down. His face was full of conflict and Shiro's heart broke at how Lance's thoughts of assumed rejection stopped him from continuing
Lance, taking a deep breath : Until I met Keith. Like, truly met him and was basically forced to work with him for the better of the universe. He may not have been the most level headed person but I still, I dunno, I liked him. I thought it may have just been platonic but I realized that I'm feeling for him the same way I felt for Allura
They are both quiet after that. Shiro is taking in the new information, not exactly surprised but unsure how to react
A sigh from Lance snaps him out of it
Lance, shaking his head as his Bayard shifts to a gun : Nevermind, this was stupid. I shouldn't be- you already have enough on your plate with the whole getting back home and Keith is basically your brother so this is kinda inappropriate-
Shiro steps forward, placing his real hand on Lance's shoulder and squeezing
Shiro : I'm honored that you would come to me about this. I realize how difficult this journey has been for you and I respect you even more now because you feel comfortable enough to speak to me about it. Lance, you are such a brave young man. Bisexual, pansexual, I don't care. Just, I want you to know that you're not alone. I'm actually pansexual and I was, um, engaged to Adam before-
Lance, eyes wide : WAIT, ADAM ? AS IN ADAM, YOUR PARTNER IN LIKE EVERY SINGLE GARRISON CLASS AND BEST BUD ? ADAM, THE ONE WHO HELPED YOU BREAK EVERY SINGLE GARRISON RECORD
Shiro, chuckling : Yes, Lance, that Adam. He showed me a type of love I had never experienced before and well, we ended up together. But point is, I won't judge you for who you decide to like. And I know that the team will accept you. Especially Keith. He may be like my little brother but I won't tell him your secrets. They are yours to tell and when you are ready. And if you don't want to share them, that's alright too. I'm always here for you, I want you to know that
A few tears fall from Lance's face before they're suddenly streaming down. He drops his gun to the ground and it shifts back to his Bayard right before it hits the ground
He hugs Shiro tightly for a few seconds before pulling apart, taking the older by surprise
"Thank you Shiro, really, thank you."
"Anytime sharpshooter. But if you and Keith do end up as an item, and you ever hurt him, you will have to answer to me."
Lance stood quiet for a few seconds before the two started laughing
Shiro stopped first, hearing a branch snap
Grabbing the black Bayard Keith equipped him with, it transformed to a daggar
He shot it at the animal, making it go still as a sort of orange blood began trickling down from the wound
