OMFG HOW FUCKING DARE YOUTUBE HIDE THE RESIDENT EVIL MOVIE TRAILER FROM ME FOR 12 HOURS
If you canât tell, Iâm extremely normal about this movie. I canât properly format my thoughts so Iâm just going to have a bullet point list in no specific order
⢠DID I CATCH A RESI2 REMAKE INTRO REF??? Roughly 40 seconds in, he hits a- most likely zombie- woman with his car, feels EXTREMELY similar to the re2 opening.
⢠AAAAAAGGGHHHH THEY INCLUDED THE TYPEWRITER!!!! IT LOOKS SO ACCURATE OH MY FUDGING GOD
⢠Dude the no ammo and struggle reloading is so accurate oh my god
⢠The main character really does feel like just A Guy. It looks like itâll be a lot like resi7 but set in the resi2 universe, which sounds awesome (ethan winters my beloved)
⢠The director being a genuine fan of the resident evil series already gives me so much faith in the movie, i think the atmosphere will be great and he really understands what the resi games were trying to achieve
⢠movie movie movie yippee :3
⢠Silly thing to get excited about BUT THE SHOTGUN SHELLS HAVE THE EXACT SAME BOX AS THEY DO IN THE GAMES HOLY SHIT THATS SO COOL
^ sorry I donât want this whole thing to just be pointing at shit and going âWAOW WAOW WAOW OMG THAT WAS IN THE GAMES!!11!!1!1!â but it feels like they really appreciate the source material and have worked hard to make it feel as close to the games as possible and I love that :D
⢠I know i kind of mentioned this with another point but I love that the movie doesnât centre one of the main characters like Leon or Claire. Having a regular civilian get caught up in this and desperately try to survive with no military background or training is SO much more terrifying and I love it (and like the director said, the whole point of the games is that theyâre SURVIVAL HORROR. not action- like some of the other movies have beenâŠ)
um yeah anyway it looks awesome and iâm very excited to go see it (if that wasnât obvious alreadyâŠ)
Yay me

Diomedes wtf happened to your companions
The kids were in literal cages.
okay. completely doxxing myself here because this is absolutely worth it
we got five emergency kinship-placed foster boys two months ago with no notice, and it turned our lives upside down. I love them so so so so much, but we need to be able to afford to keep them just one more month until school starts and I can get a job again (I've been having to stay home to watch them since no daycare will take them)
They've been neglected and abused and forgotten, and I will NOT let them be separated. If we can't stay afloat and get into a new house (landlord just told us to move out. haha. isn't that great.), the kids will be split up into separate foster homes.
Absolutely anything you can give will help us, otherwise, reblogging would mean the world to me and these kids. We just need to get the word out there and get a little help to get past this month. We're already through all our savings and I've started selling all the furniture to keep up.
We have food covered for the kids through different programs, but rent and utilities has been / will be going up a LOT.
I will write quite literally anything you want. I don't care if it's a squick at this point. Or draw. Whatever you want. Commissions are open, the go fund me link is here. You have my kofi in my bio. If paypal or venmo works better, just let me know and I can get that to you, too. Anything at all helps.
Help us keep five brothers from being separated by the foster system! ⊠Shannon Teske needs your support for Keep Five Brothers Fr
I like the idea in fantasy that humans are better at maintaining things long term because they set up societies or professions to do it whereas dwarves and elves and stuff are like âjust get bob to do it heâs got a good few hundred years leftâ and then bob doesnât teach anyone else how to do it
Elf: How have you kept this castle maintained for a thousand years if your lives are so short?
Human: We just train new people how to do it?
Elf: *gears visibly turning in their head*
Human: Are you alright?
Elf: I just realized that we didnât have to let that whole city fall to ruin just because my grandfather died.
Human: What?
Human: Wait thatâs why thereâs ruins of elven cities even though you live for so long? You just keep not asking people how to do things? How do you learn anything?
Elf: Thereâs a lot of âyouâve got time to figure it out on your ownâ attitudes floating around in our society that Iâm starting to question somewhat.
Elf: That sword, where did you get it?
Human: My cousin made it.
Elf: Impossible! Those metalworking techniques were lost a hundred years ago!
Human: What do you mean lost? My great-grandmother learned to make these swords from an elven smith, then taught it to her kids.
Elf: That's ridiculous. No elf would give such secrets to a human.
Human: They didn't. Meemaw delivered the metal to the forge, and no one kicked her out when she stayed and watched. She always said they barely acknowledged her even when doing business with her, like she wasn't worth noticing.
Elf: Come to think of it, my great-uncle always was rather single-minded when he started working.
Human: So he wasn't ignoring her, he just forgot she was there?
Elf: Oh, he was definitely ignoring her, too. He was super racist.
Incidents Around the House ð
I watched the trailer for Other Mommy and I was jumpscared so badly I fell off my chair. At the same time, on my screen, the dad in the movie was startled so badly that he went through a glass panel and I have never related so hard to someone in my life.
naomi ackie just keeps collecting science experiment boyfriends and i love that for her
According to interviews regarding the movie, Matt Hagen in the new Clayface movie grew up in one of the violent, impoverished parts of Gotham, but due to his acting talent and looks was able to forge a way out for himself with his new career... Until after sleeping with a woman that turns out to be a gangster's girlfriend leads to his getting disfigured, resulting in his acting career collapsing and (according to the trailer) even unable to get justice in the courts for his assault.
I think that it's interesting that even with this small description of Matt's backstory, it both establishes him as an eventual sympathetic villain (Bat rogues being people who turned to the dark side due to reasons outside of their control are a common theme in the better parts of the franchise) and lays more of the groundwork for this version of Gotham we caught briefly in Creature Commandos.
That evidently the Mob are evidently a strong enough presence in the city that they can do things like make deals with foreign governments to trade nuclear secrets (as Rupert Thorne did in Dr Phosphorous' backstory) and also have the clout to get out of maiming a popular public figure that the movie studio would logically have invested a lot of time and money into (actors can get recast, but if Matt was already lined up for multiple projects that would have caused a big issue for them) while not receiving any kind of legal consequences for it...
Which when put together, does explain why, someone like Batman would exist in this universe.
Like, in a city that so corrupt and incompetent that violent criminals are just allowed to get wealthier and more powerful, of course people would eventually snap and start fighting back against them... Plus it has the implication that as the Mob effectively rule Gotham, Batman going after them has a different vibe than his going after the people who may have turned to crime as a consequence of poverty as some incarnations do.
More like his Zorro inspiration and punching up, maybe, and less as one charming commenter on this blog ages back put it "crime is a result of moral degeneracy and poverty is never an excuse" in their defence of Batman beating up muggers etc.
it actually is insane to me that it's a cultural norm for men to suck ass at getting their wives/gfs gifts. especially when they whine about how they have no idea what women like.
man, you're not getting a gift for Female Domestic Partner. you're getting a gift for Natalie, a person whom you have been married to for 7 years, whom has lived in the same home with you for a decade, whom speaks to you every day about her thoughts and interests, whom you presumably love, and whom you can directly or indirectly ask what she wants. it's not that you don't know what half the human population wants, that's irrelevant. you don't know what Natalie wants and that is inexcusable.
critical role fandom misogyny can sometimes feel even more egregious than regular fandom misogyny because the usual suspects can't even fall back on the usual 'well the female characters are all underwritten and unrealistic while the male characters get better writing' excuse. the female characters are almost all "written" and played by women. obviously people are allowed to have favorites, but thereâs a pattern in the fandom where the womenâs struggles and importance to the story are often downplayed in favor of the menâs. male pcs are allowed to be flawed and emotionally complicated in ways that female pcs often arenât given the same grace for, without getting relentlessly criticized for it
beau and thaisha are both major drivers in their campaigns but often get treated as supporting characters in the stories of the men around them rather than protagonists in their own right

i thought the âthis is the face that launched a thousand ships, although now it would maybe be five-hundred.â line was just an internet joke but apparently that's a line Menelaus actually says in Nolan's Odyssey??
Not only that the language itself sounds straight out of a marvel forcibly funny haha moment, but Menelaus? The Menelaus who all thoughout human history, from Homer, to Sappho, to Euripides, to Virgil, to Shakespeare, to Brooke, to Barth; from Classical vases to Medieval poetry to Reinessance art, has been known as the man whose sword fell from his hands at the sight of his wife after 10 years apart?
"What joy for me to hold my wife" Menelaus?
"He flung the sword away, and kissed her feet" Menelaus?
"I believe all. I understand nothing. I love you" Menelaus?
"I have no fault to find; my wife, he daughter of Zeus and Leda, is mine again, she whom her brothers on their snow-white steeds, whilst torches blazed, made my happy bride, but gods removed her from my home." Menelaus?
The Menelaus who was picked out of the suitors by Helen herself? The Menelaus who couldn't kill a begging Trojan so his brother had to do it for him? The Menelaus who rescued Odysseus and got out Patroclus' body? The Menelaus who volounteered to fight Paris one on one so everybody could go home? Who kept expressing his guilt about himself being the cause of war through every assembly he spoke at in the Iliad? Who after 10 years away at Troy, took his wife through a 7-year long journey at sea back home, where he reinstated her as the queen of Sparta? Who wept like a child in front of Telemachus recalling the war and his brother and all the friends he lost and the only consolation being his wife' gentle hand on his?
You want me to believe that man scarred Helen's face and called her only worth half the ships because of it?
I'm actually physically sick just thinking about it.
"Mario Mario" is an anachronism. He and his brother were only ever referred to by mononyms in their lifetime, like most residents of the Mushroom Kingdom at the time - multi-part names were typically reserved for members of the Toadstool dynasty, and even these were more like titles or Roman cognomina than what we would call a surname today. His putative ennoblement as founder of the "House of Mario" came centuries later as the collapsing feudal order sought additional sources of legitimacy
#mushroom kingdom folklore says that he sleeps beneath a warp pipe to arise in the time of the kingdom's greatest need #he's definitely shown up a few times but it's hard to tell if he has risen from the dead or is just in the middle of some time travel shit #historians hate him.
While the historical evidence for Mario having a younger brother is quite concrete, the name of said brother is less certain. "Luigi" is generally held to originate with a separate figure from a series of chthonic myths, who originally served as a sort of psychopomp charged with capturing spirits that escaped the underworld. The strongest case for a contemporary figure named Luigi comes from the Waffle Kingdom sagas; however, this Luigi's brother is a gladiator named Gonzales.
now I know that there's no way for me to respond to this without a bunch of fans of the modern adaptations ruining my inbox for the next week, but there's no evidence of Waluigi - or indeed Luigi - in any of the contemporary versions of the Mario-Wario sagas. The name "Wario" itself is a later invention, held to be a pun on warui that likely emerged after the adoption of Japanese scripts in the Koopa States.
The conflict between Mario and his "boyhood rival" was one over political influence on his home island and Mario's long absences - in particular his trip to Sarasaland. While later Sarasan sources would heavily reference Mario's brother, he is absent from both the preceding narrative and the unrest in Mario's homeland. The historical consensus is that the Sarasaland journey was one of Mario's earliest wanderings, with his brother attempting to manage affairs in his absence and proving unfit. The invention of a separate "Wario" character and its development into an explicit coup d'etat were later poetic creations, as is distancing of the "Wario" figure from the later depictions of Mario's brother as the more cowardly and reserved "Luigi".
(As an aside: "Mario Land" is a mistranslation. The original Mushroomer and Sarasan chronicles are better translated as "the land of Mario", without connotations of ownership. The modern scholastic consensus is that it refers to Yoshi's Island, where Mario and his brother spent their youth and later established a small manor, not, as commonly depicted, a "Mario Castle". The emphasis on Mario as king of "Mario Land" was a mostly successful political maneuver by the Yoshis to retain coequal status with the Mushroom Kingdom heartlands in the face of 18th-century expansionist pan-Mushroomism.)
The later emergence of "Waluigi" is an ironic recombination of two figures from the same historical source, and may have originated as a farce parodying the Mario stories. (The name "Waluigi" is also conflated with the early Norman figure Varr Yngwi, who is generally credited with the invention of tennis.)
