Not only was Bedknobs and Broomsticks one of my first introductions to the idea of actually doing magic, and a movie I watched repeatedly and obsessively as a kid, but it was my first introduction to Astaroth:

Also, as far as I had known, the “magic words” meant nothing, but apparently the writers of the song equated them to five core elements!

Also back a couple days ago I was tryna think of a good symbol for anti-Nazi efforts and floated the concept of the Captain America shield… the Star of Astoroth there is a very similar design. And both have been charged over the years with profoundly anti-Nazi sentiments that would be hard to override, and are also similar to the pentacles that’re standard fare for witches and tarot cards. Maybe it’s time to go with the absolutely obvious.

Omg I’m so glad people know about this movie! This was literally one of my favorite Disney movies growing up, but most people had never even heard of it.
