Happy Halloween @syfjade!

A flush bloomed up the back of Danny’s neck all the way to his ears at the sound of Jia’s praise. It wasn’t for him—well, it was, but she didn’t know that—but that made it even more impactful. It wasn’t empty praise. Not that Jia was the type of that, but his anonymity meant Danny knew she wasn’t just saying that to be kind. His writing was the thing Danny felt most proud of and Jia’s words pulled at his heart in the same compelling way they had that night. Danny felt lucky he was sober. Otherwise, he would probably do something equally ill-advised. Maybe he would anyway.
“I’ve-I’ve been fine. I mean good, yeah, great even. Totally awesome.” Danny fumbled his way forward. He always seemed to lose control of his mouth when he was nervous. Jia certainly made him nervous. “You’ve, been, uh, working on your comeback? That’s cool, that’s cool… I can’t wait to see what you do with it. The choreo and stuff. Since you, uh, like the lyrics, you know. That’s why. No other reason.”
Jia felt the pit in her stomach sink even deeper. She was overthinking every moment of what they had done and Danny was... fine. It had been of little consequence to him. The thought was painful, so she pushed it aside and kept talking about the safe topic of music.
“Yes, it’s a bit different than my first single,” she said. Jia blushed for a moment, though she wasn’t sure why. Danny had probably seen “Full Moon”, just like many others. It was no big deal. “I really wanted to meet him in person, but they told me he was very private. It’s too bad, I would have liked to buy d.NA oppa dinner to thank him.”
It took Jia a moment to realize she had referred to d.NA by her private nickname as a fangirl. She had been so caught in her awkward rambling, she had bypassed what was left of her filter.
a knight in shinning tricycle
@syfhyunjae
Jia had met Hyunjae at the set of “Full Moon”. It had been a pivotal moment for her, the first solo music video she would ever do. It was unpromoted, but had become a cult classic. She still performed the dance for v-lives and during some FL0R H4NA concerts. Perhaps it was all that excited energy that gave her such a positive view of Hyunjae. It even made her forget the initial awkwardness that always came with doing a romantic scene with someone.
She had seen Hyunjae sporadically since then, depending on what their schedules allowed. They were good friends, though she still wasn’t sure why. He was a member of Imaginair, which, despite any potential faults, took its art very seriously. Jia had wracked her brain trying to figure out what he saw in her work. She landed on the fact that Hyunjae was probably just that nice.
Unfortunately, their lovely platonic relationship was sometimes overshadowed by the shipping. It laid dormant, only to rear its head every time they interacted in a mildly friendly way. It had happened since the music video and as often as she tried to quell the rumors, there was never a rectification on the matter.
Jia had not expected to run into Hyunjae while coming out of the bookstore, much less invite him to lunch. But, there were a lot of books and she really did need to thank him.
She raised an eyebrow as she walked alongside him.
“I have to ask... where did you get this?”
supernatural afterparty
for @syfxjia
(tw alcohol)
Chaerin takes a deep breath as her car stops in front of the venue, letting a smile settle on her expression. Though she’s tired from the charity concert StarbrighT performed at earlier, she always looks forward to the afterparties. The chance to socialize with other idols is a treasure she covets, and she won’t let a little fatigue get in her way.
She pushes open the wide double doors and steps inside, greeted to a large gathering of the other idols from the concert, as well as models, actors, and other celebrities. Having only debuted a year ago, Chaerin hasn’t personally met many of the celebrities present, but she recognizes quite a few of them. Most people are already clumped together in groups, drinking and socializing, and Chaerin can’t wait to join in.
She makes her way to the table delicately stacked high with a tower of champagne glasses, taking one for herself and sipping at it before making her way around the large ballroom. She mingles with a few celebrities, greeting people she knows and introducing herself to people she’s never met. Most people receive her with wide smiles and friendly words, but some hear her name and their expressions twist into a look as they recognize her name, and though Chaerin should be used to it, it still stings enough that she slips back to the edge of the crowd for a moment to collect herself.
There’s a table full of wine glasses on this side of the room, and Chaerin takes one after finishing her champagne. She sips on it as she observes the crowd, and her eyes are eventually drawn to a figure hanging back against the far wall. Chaerin can’t help but stare, squinting as she tries to place the familiar woman. Is she from one of the girl groups Chaerin had met backstage earlier?
Then it hits her all at once. Jia Acosta, FL0R H4NA’s main rapper. Chaerin’s eyes widen—no way.
Chaerin had been a fan of FL0R H4NA since their debut. Their unique, powerful concept had inspired her through the roughest times in her life, and Chaerin had always dreamed of performing with them in some capacity. It seemed unreal to see one of the members standing just across the room from her—and for it to be Jia Acosta, no less. Chaerin had always held special respect for Jia, and now she feels more than a little starstruck.
Her legs are moving before her mind realizes, and soon she’s crossing the room and walking up to the other idol’s side. She stops just in front of her, giving the unsuspecting woman her brightest, beaming smile.
“Hi, Sunbaenim! I’m Park Chaerin—I’m a huge fan!”
Jia was not prepared to be accosted by a ball of energy. She was not exactly the most popular member of the group domestically. Sure, Latin America liked her, but they couldn’t even collect themselves together long enough to create a fandom. There were also the few that accused her of being an actual witch (some positively, others negatively; admittedly, her grandmother was a curandera, so maybe there was some truth to it).
So, it was a pleasant, if unexpected, surprise that someone recognized her and called themselves a fan. Particularly, at this event where she had fully planned to disappear into the wallpaper. Her most recent poor life choices had left her abstaining from alcohol for the time being, so she was clutching a glass of water. It was very much a reminder of every party she went to as a teenager, except at least no one would probably vomit on her shoes here.
She had listened to StarbrighT quite a bit (they were very good for such a newly debuted group). Her mind quickly placed her as the main vocalist, Chaerin. She had truly enjoyed her pre-debut single. Her face exploded in a smile.
“Hi! That is always so nice to hear!”
She looked around for somewhere to sit and chat with her new acquaintance. She gestured towards a small table in the corner, empty as there was no one important anywhere in its vicinity. Everyone knew this was a networking opportunity. However, Jia couldn’t bring herself to make the effort today. She was already burning the candle at both ends as it was.
“I can’t wait for your next comeback. You all sound so great together, it is almost magical,” she gushed.
Jia thought for a moment. “If you want, I can give you a reading. Let you know how it will go.” Some of her friends had discouraged her from bringing her tarot deck, knowing it would give her another reason to play in a corner, but she had brought it anyways. Hopefully, Chaerin was enough of a fan that she would appreciate the gesture and not find an excuse to run off.
Jia smiled at the other person. This cake was not as good as the ones she had in her childhood parties, but it was delicious nonetheless. She also appreciated the fact that they had gone out of their way to do this for her. It was nice in the chaos of her current life and with the impending comeback. “Thanks. This is a great birthday present.”

STARTER ❦ — 11:00AM. KCB STUDIO. w/ @syfxjia
❝It’s just a formality, Rose. Show up, look the part, and the deal’s all yours.❞ It’s a promise that came with a pumpkin spice macchiato and an exhausted smile, a smile telling Naeun, “I don’t get paid enough for this, so please.” She accepts the audition for some newbie brand’s foundation out of pity for the staff and nothing more.
These days, commercial requests for Naeun—endless emails asking her to show off this lip tint or pretend to like that new, overpriced bubble tea flavor—stack up more than can be ignored. Although the idol thinks she, and any so.ar member for that matter, is beyond auditioning and in the realm of being cherry-picked for opportunities, she’ll do what she’s told. Give Chimera, the corporations, the people, the nation, the world, what they want. She lives and dies by the motto.
Still, Naeun is hardly the most ungrateful and avaricious talent in the network broadcasting studio’s small waiting room. Sure, she carries a professional air about her, and a certain impatience that only those who truly know her could suss out, but some of the other talents reek of overconfidence. There’s almost nowhere to avoid sitting next to a brat.
If you told Naeun that Jia, who she chose not to notice when she came in, would be her saving grace in the sea of amateur models, she’d scoff. And yet, Naeun hastily walks to claim the only seat next to the rapper, pretending to take interest in the nearby vending machine.
After a moment of staring down soft drinks and candy, Rose decides to break the ice. A little small talk can’t hurt.
“Jia? It’s been a while. I didn’t think you were into this kind of…thing. Are you really trying to become a model these days?”
Jia had been made fun of for being tall her entire life. It had only gotten worse in Korea, where the average height was shorter than America. At 5′8, she was even taller than a lot of the guys she had grown up with. Of course, that had changed with the industry. Yes, she was still tall, but it was now an asset. Specifically, it made her desirable in modeling circles.
Jia did not care for modeling. She respected it well enough and liked pretty clothes, but she had never felt a calling for it. Unfortunately, with her height, people usually saw it as a given, then were surprised to find she preferred acting. Bobby, in his infinite patience, did not care what she focused on. Unfortunately, the rest of the company still liked to bring it up. This commercial was the middle ground.
She had done exactly one web clip before, but it was hardly a formal affair. She had tried on lipsticks that would normally be far too couture for her. However, this was different. This was an actual commercial. She was a bit nervous, as she always was, but she was confident. It was a method of acting and she had sold product with FL0R H4NA. This would be fine.
She was surprised to see Naeun there. This was probably beneath her. Jia tried to figure out if they were still fighting or not. She supposed they were on speaking terms, since Naeun had approached first. Jia smiled at her, mentally preparing herself for a battle of wits.
“They twisted my arm into it. You?” she asked. “Isn’t this a bit... different than your usual style?”

What are you doing here? That was a question Danny encountered frequently. From his teachers, his manager, his members… Somehow it seemed so much worse spilling from the lips of the last girl he’d spent the night with. It stung of the embarrassment he felt the next morning, running away from the consequences of his drunken actions with a now buttonless button-up and rope burns on his wrists.
“I, um, well—” Danny could barely manage to form words. Of course, he had a perfectly legitimate reason to be at the Orion building. His managers wanted him to do a variety appearance with Bobby. They thought it was an organic match. So much chaos could only result in entertaining television. Danny had come along to the meeting discuss the logistics so he could meet Bobby. Just to meet Bobby. No other reason. There wasn’t a beautiful girl he was hoping, but not hoping, to run into.
“Uh, you know,” Danny said with a shrug and a shakey voice. “Just… hanging out. How are you, I mean, what are you doing here? Or like, up to? Things been… good?”
He cringed as soon as the words left his lips. If there was a cliff available for him to jump off, he’d do it in a heartbeat, just to get away from this situation. He was an idiot. He knew it, and Jia must have too.
Jia wondered if the ground could just swallow her whole or if the rapture could just happen now. She didn’t care where she went, just as long as it got her away from here. He probably regretted it. That was the only explanation for how he left. Admittedly, she had no other basis for comparison. Maybe this was normal for a one-night stand. Maybe that really was all it was.
“I have just been rehearsing. You know, for the comeback. And that song I told you about. The lyrics are really good.” Jia started blushing as she realized the similarity to their last conversation. The exact same talk that had ended up with them in bed. Danny was really into d.NA. Was that his mood music? “I, um, wanted to make sure the choreography worked well with it.”
Jia shifted between one foot and another. Where was Bobby when she needed him? At the very least, his eccentricities could provide a distraction. "How about you, Daewon?” She suddenly slipped into what she called him that night and the blush spread even farther. Somehow, even though it was just his name, it felt more personal than calling him Danny. “Have you been... okay?”

Jia had been told repeatedly there would be a second season for the Arthdal Chronicles. It’s just that no one ever bothered to tell her when it would be. She was as in the dark as her fans, with resurgences every few months. The rumors would start all over again. One week she was supposedly fighting with the actors. Others she was in love with them. Sometimes it was because of her schedule and she was solely holding back production. It was chaos and she knew she was not the only one who received comments.
Her relationship with Min was that of very friendly colleagues. She also suspected Min wanted to dress her up more than once, but she couldn’t blame her. After all, Jia was tall enough to meet model standards, though it had mostly made her feel insecure growing up.
The two had come up with this virtual little fanmeet just to quell some of the rumors, but also to give back to the fans. Besides, it really had been a fun project, at least for her. The locations were beautiful and because of her role, she got to see most of them.
Someone had asked her to clarify whether she had actually been spotted in Signapore. She laughed.
“Yes, that was me. I took a slight detour during my break time.”
