Marika Echachis Swan - Deep In Our Bones (woodblock print, 2018)
“The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.”
— Tibetan Proverb
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.”
— Oscar Wilde, The Soul of Man Under Socialism
They (great bodhisattvas) cultivate practice for an unutterably long time, but are ineffably enlightened in a single instant…
Avatamsaka Sutra - Flower Ornament Scripture 901
Note on the image: Amitayus is the sambhogakaya form of Amitaba. He is visualized in princely attire. His practice is for “long life.” Amitayus translates as “Infinite Life.”
The Tibetan Amitāyus mantra reads:
oṃ ā ma ra ṇi dzi wan te ye svā hā
Tibetan script: ཨོཾ༌ཨཱ༌མ༌ར༌ནི༌ཛི༌ཝན༌ཏེ༌ཡེ༌སྭཱ༌ཧཱ།
This would correspond to the Sanskrit:
oṃ amaraṇi jīvantaye svāhā
ओं अमरणि जीवन्तये स्वाहा
The body is not the Buddha,
Nor is Buddha a body:
Only reality is the body,
Permeating all things.
If one can see the Buddha-body
Pure as the nature of reality,
Such a one has no doubt
Or confusion about the Buddha.
If one sees all things
As in essence like nirvana,
This is seeing the Enlightened
Ultimately without abode.
Avatamsaka Sutra – 451

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.
Helen Hyde
“If your work in life is humble, do not apologize for it. Be proud because you are fulfilling the duty given you by the Father. He needs you in your particular place; all people cannot play the same role. So long as you work to please God all cosmic forces will harmoniously assist you.”
Paramahansa Yogananda
