okay so anyone who follows me knows I am always always always bitching about artists depictions of trans women but like holy shiiiit this is REALLY good. Like soooo much art that isnt by trans women fall into two camps of "draw a cis woman and later say shes trans" or "draw the most virulently transmisogynistic caricature possible" but this piece is just so..... real? Sometimes I see people on this site, while arguing that transandrophobia is real (it absolutely is!! don't misconstrue me!!), say things like "what transfems have experienced forced pregnancy?"

And like, I need to remind ya'll that transfems with functioning uteruses & ovaries exist!! 😓 Transfem =/= has a wolffian duct (prostate, testes, seminal vesicles, etc)!! Transfem says nothing about your anatomy!!

i still don't fully understand why people act like believing in gendered socialization means you think socialization is immutable. no, by believing in "male socialization" i am not saying "every single person socialized as male is hard-wired to behave one way and cannot learn a new way to behave." infact, believing in the latter is actually closer to bioessentialism than any actual socialization argument. all i'm saying is that when you are raised as male, you are socialized as male, and that comes with different learned behaviors than someone raised & socialized as female. you can, however, very easily replace those learned behaviors with new ones. i implore you to do so, in fact.

I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.

Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."
